Removing confederate statues does not change history. Honoring traitors to the US is just wrong. They lost the war and then allowed to have statues of Gen. Lee and Stonewall Jackson? Schools named after them. US military bases named after them? Why? These generals should have been hung from a tree the minute they walked out of that courthouse in Appomattox, VA. Those statues were only erected to perpetuate white supremacy intimidate blacks during the Jim Crow era.
Dude, I can’t believe that you are asking that question. That is gist of African American studies classes or learning about black history in history classes that is already being taught and have been for decades. That is part of what some white people are trying to get schools to stop teaching this stuff. The African tribe depicted in the 2022 Hollywood movie, “The Woman King” showed how they sold their captured enemy tribes to the European slave traders.
I can tell that you did not do well in high school history class did you? You don’t like to read, do you? You don’t watch PBS documentaries do you?
I recommend reading books and watching documentaries by the Harvard history Professor, Dr. Henry Louis Gates. All your questions will be answered about slavery in the US. You may learn something in the process. Another good book on this subject in particular is “Before the Mayflower: A History of the Negro in America, 1619-1962” by Lerone Bennett Jr.
The bottom line is there is no shortage of information on the topic of slavery.

It does change peoples knowledge of history. Many of the statues had plaques telling history of what went on in battlefields and other events. You and others may not like what they stood for, but history was told.

How about BLM erecting a statue of Nat Turner. And on the plaque it said “Courageous slave that led a slave revolt for 3 days killing many whites including women and children”.

Again it’s the story of what happened in a certain time in this country. That is history. When visiting different areas of the country, I enjoyed reading the plaques of the statues. When there I didn’t have a history book to look it up so it was nice to read the plaque.
My son used to deal at the Horseshoe. He dealt to Michael Jordan three times and never got a tip. Other white dealers were never tipped by Jordan either. Maybe Jordan is racist and we should tear down his statue? I have a couple more Jordan stories at a golf course not tipping people.
That is what history books and museums are for. I have no interest in going near a confederate statue, let alone read the plaque. I rather learn about that crap in a history documentary on PBS done by Ken Burns or Dr. Henry Louis Gates. You don't see no Nazi flags and statues of General Rommel in Germany, do you? Do these classes include any teachings of the great economist Thomas Sowell? noted-Civil Rights leader Robert Woodson? Maybe the academic scholarship of Shelby Steele? Any if their work required reading in these classes? I mean Sowell (next to Friedmann) is the greatest economist of our time. Yet he always gets missed somehow? If I was a black American I would ask why one of the greatest black minds of our time is never recognized and white idiot hacks like Krugman are on every cable channel.

Depends on the class as there are many different AA studies classes in the program. History, politics, social-economics to name a few. Enough classes to get a degree in.
As far as noted African Americans that were absent during the presentation. My first guess would be Clarence Thomas. He is definitely not thought of highly in the black community and rightly so. Dr. Ben Carson would be my second guess.

Chicago doesn’t have party affiliation elections. They have 1 general election and then a run-off if nobody clears 50 plus 1. And I don’t think you know what a fascist is. I know your side has labeled Rs fascist but Rs believe in government and personal decisions closest to the people and less centralized control. That is the antithesis of fascism.

Dude, what do voting recounts and audits, more than once in some areas, in 2020 don't you understand? There was no widespread cheating in any of the 2020 elections. No one is preventing Republicans to participate in mail-in voting. Mail-in voting works for everyone. As far as mail-in voting. if anything the repubs are the ones trying to cheat when they change the voting laws that reduced the mail-in boxes from urban areas and increased the mail-in boxes in rural areas.

2. Peoples mail in ballots (elderly) being filled out by someone else
3. People with no interest (young) in voting ballots filled out by others
4. People who have moved or died ballots filled out by others with biased interest
Many more reasons ( ballot harvesting) cheating is easy with mail in voting. People can’t fill out or get help at the polling place while voting.
Elections will be compromised from here on out more so than ever before.

Lost in all this talk are the important educational measures. Collectively, the USA could and should do better in measures compared to other countries. Even if you only compare the top 10% for those that think the difference in countries is that other countries have a selective few to be measured in previous TIMMS ( Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study ) you will see the USA needing improvement. Asian countries perdominantly prevail...which is not surprise since school is important as is age of people for influence.
Inside the educational measures for the USA are stark differences in academic knowledge. There is a huge gap between whites and Asians (close together) and Hispanics and Blacks (close together). Everyone would be better off improving through focus the core courses (math/science, history, English/reading comprehension) subject matter knowledge. This is even more important for Hispanics & Blacks who in some cities barely have anyone proficient in those areas. Care about the future of this country...care about all children...particularly Hispanic and Black children...be concerned about the core courses since accomplished understandings in those areas will propel each individual to greater heights than any other approach. Successful accomplishment of that core coursework has two parent home as the best indicator...which is also a choice...
In history, not eveything has the time available to study all important events and there are many...so many not included today. History representation should include those things of relevance in history...the importance of various events that shaped this country, not catering to one specific group over another. Sadly, performance in those areas are on a backburner as the politicians that know so little, even consider CRT as a importance in helping Blacks and Hispanics...and the beat goes on creating more dependence on the gov by not doing those things he or she could AND should!
