There was no article posted with the original post. It was all Twitter stuff that mentioned a Frosh/Soph season so I assumed he had 2 years but was not sure how it works since he is a grad transfer. Again, had there been any article to read, I would have perused.

By adding an Ivy League player? 35%? I think we were 75% to make the tournament before today. Maybe 80% now. Hope his game transitions to better competition. Our chances for the tourney next year just went from 50% to 85%. This is a good day.

If no other reason, the averages- Big Ten got 4 this year, they will be more generous next year 6-7. I am pretty sure we can go Top 6.
im hoping wheeler takes the three spot. Haarms Buodreaux Wheeler Edwards Eastern. This is fantastic news! Purdue needed a solid 3 or 4 who could come in and fill some timing gaps between Vince and Wheeler/Williams. Or at least to add more depth.
interesting.Should it be a given Haarms starts at the 5 just because he is tall? I feel like he needs to improve to where he is either a really good rebounder or he can consistently knock down a 15 footer before people just pencil him in at the 5.
Nova's tallest guy is 6-9.
Michigan's plays with Wagner at 6'10 and then there next tallest guy is usually either 6'6 or Duncan Robinson at 6'7.
Wheeler is 6'9 now and a capable 3 point shooter and a far better athlete than Vince ever was...Boudreaux is 6'8 and rebounds much better than Haarms according to his stats and video.
Nova, Michigan, Kansas and Loyola all put teams in binds by being able to spread you out.
Purdue fans are so used to having massive centers....but that's not what wins you tournament games these days. It's being able to spread you out and shoot from the perimeter...as well as being able to defend a lot of ball screens well from your 1-5.
So if it were me...I'd be opening up driving lanes for Carsen, Nojel, Wheeler, Hunter by having Boudreaux be our Mo Wagner...even though he's a few inches shorter. There is a reason why Michigan keeps having tournament success.
Bring Haarms off the bench until he can consistently develop a pick and pop game.
Sounds like he was a great player on an awful team. Dartmouth stinks out loud and has for like 60 years. I want to say when I looked at standings they only had won 7-8 games.reloads rather than rebuilds now.
purdue can develop a lengthy tournament appearance streak, especially with some of the big ten teams down right now.

What about, "Can he play zone?"How many stars was he coming out of high school...........that's all I want to know. Oh, and who is PU's next head coach........and that's it.

He plays harmonica ...What about, "Can he play zone?"
I watched about 50 seconds of Ivy League basketball on Championship weekend. I think Penn won. Dudes in our conference will be a smidge quicker. We will see how be adjusts. I would think 8-10 ppg.If so, teams could 'key' on him and shut him down. No?

I'd sure hope so. They don't put us as a part of the POWER 5 for nothing.
So, they didn't shut him down?
Do you think they're any better than the America East conference?
I really don't think focusing on exactly how good he was two years ago matters. He has done something for the past year, who knows what, but I "assume" it was to improve himself - since he gave up a year just because he wanted to play on a team in the dance. He gets our strength coach and he gets better players ALL around him. How often does a player blossom when he doesn't have to do it all? ... or, admittedly, at times not ... but it just doesn't make sense to me that it will be not. Plus, let's consider who would be playing if he wasn't here. Now then ....I'd sure hope so. They don't put us as a part of the POWER 5 for nothing.

I would say America East has better athletes. Some decent tournament history as well.I'd sure hope so. They don't put us as a part of the POWER 5 for nothing.

I humbly suggest that what has been perceived as a rumor RE: Taylor was not a rumor. In my mind, I see a transfer, but when I study the roster, I don't see anyone leaving. One commitment down. two scholarships left to give. My thoughts are one more freshman, and one more grad transfer. probably a small forward, and a Pg.
I'm starting to see the rumors on this board about Taylor not coming back. That's his decision. I have no idea how hard it was for him to rehab after his injury and try to come back to the level of his previous skills.
I have to believe we will see more de-commitments and transfers in the upcoming weeks.
As for Boudreaux, I believe he's a good player and somebody who will fit into our system well.

im hoping wheeler takes the three spot. Haarms Buodreaux Wheeler Edwards Eastern.
That is very long, athletic in at least four positions, and has shooters as well.
interesting.
I hadn’t thought of this. They could play both ways, big or small, pick and roll or pick and pop, slips, motion either way. It hinges on Wheeler. If he can play, all lineups work.
Small:
Boudreaux
Wheeler
Cline
Edwards
Eastern
Big:
Haarms
Boudreaux
Wheeler
Edwards
Eastern
Let's be honest. You can't have Cline in if you need defense over offense. Not a knock on him ... he is what he is ... but you're giving up to get.Exactly. If Cline plays at a wing, you have to have Wheeler at the 4. You can’t have Cline and Bourdaeux in at the same time trying to defend top teams 3 and 4 guys.

Regarding more recruits, we do need a PG, at least for a year or two, but maybe not next year. I still like the kid from Fordham, but he seems to have gone quiet. I don't want a leftover freshman PG, although maybe if he were tall and defensive-minded and might redshirt.... maybe. I am still struck by the number of redhsirts on the final four teams.
Well......maybe Cline will go to Defensive College this summer and learn how to become a lock down defender.Let's be honest. You can't have Cline in if you need defense over offense. Not a knock on him ... he is what he is ... but you're giving up to get.
Yeah the rebounding at least should translate plus It seems everybody is forgetting that He has has had a whole redshirt year to practice He should be better than a 17 and 10 guy in the Ivy league next yearI don’t care what anyone says if you average 17 and 10 as a sophomore even in the Ivy League and especially as a 6’8” 220 dude, you can AT LEAST be serviceable. I will say he has the old school YMCA game. This is something that, besides his maturity and intelligence, will help. Sometimes those dudes who aren’t as athletic have sneaks had to find ways to score and contribute. When you pair that with the athleticism we have coming back/in, I think it’s a good combo. But IDK I’m just a dude
Yes he was a top target we started recruiting him early mainly for his defense and rebounding .So is this a two-year deal or a bandaid for a season? Were we on him out of HS?
So I think at this point I guess the line up would be
Eastern
C Edwards
Cline
Boudeaux
Haarms
Boudeaux ads shooting and rebounding which the team needs. Only thing that wories me is I don't know how good of a defender he is
Not going to happen and shouldn’tShould it be a given Haarms starts at the 5 just because he is tall? I feel like he needs to improve to where he is either a really good rebounder or he can consistently knock down a 15 footer before people just pencil him in at the 5.

Does this mean he feels some of the 19' fowards are going elsewhere? Do you feel they are willing to sit behind wheeler and Evan for a year?Yes he was a top target we started recruiting him early mainly for his defense and rebounding .
jacksonville averaged 7' wtih a 6'5" and 5'10 guard when gilmore played, but I was also mentioning Florida in 1987 and that team had may 3 that were drafted as well. That Jacksonville team started 3 seven footers.
That is another! If you're going to have someone grow a fro....it better be like Darnell Hillman.
No question that more strength will help him. However, it is more important for bigs than perimeter players and was more important for perimeter players yesterday than today...generallyAgree that Hunter doesn’t RS next year...other than Carsen, Hunter may end up being the one player who has all the big time shots right now and ready to go...and CMP and others have said as much already. If Hunter can add about being 15 pounds, there’s a real good chance he gets around 15 minutes a game as a scoring punch off the bench who can guard the quicker and shiftier guards like Rutgers had this season Purdue struggled with. Hunter is the total package...that package just happens to be a medium right now instead of a large, lol.
