I was reading some comments below and got to wondering, does a defensive unit like their offense to be balanced, use the clock, and drive down a field in a slow and methodical approach. This keeps the defense (and other team's offense) off the field, which I understand is the best defense in and of itself.
But, with the WRs Purdue has, it won't (I hope) be long before that a connection between QB and WR begins to produce longer throws that move us down a field faster.
When that happens, does the defense like it
My opinion is that depends on the defensive personnel. If you have enough depth to go full steam ahead then yes, the defense would prefer a "score at will offense" and get back out there to play aggressively and challenge the other side.
