Yes, but don't give-up on Morton yet.
I agree. Painter sees things every day that the fans don't see. The players he currently has and will have down the road dictate recruiting priorities.

EDIT: He was being recruited by Shrewsberry according to the 247 link.

May not want to scare away Dravyn Gibbs-Lawhorn in 2023. He may be rusty though after being out this past year as a sophomore. He was a top 10 player his freshman year.
Will be curious on keeping tabs on him now that he is out in Utah....

With all respect for youth - right there is a poster boy for not physically ready ... and the importance of the physical development guy!!!
Yep but I read he put on 25 pounds between soph and junior year, using the downtime during the basketball shutdown to transform his body.

can he shoot the three? I'd like to see Painter going after bigs who are more than low post, back to the basket players.
He’s gone after some recently, just needs to land one. Probably a tougher sell with our recent history of traditional bigs. “Hey remember Brad Miller who played here back when your dad was in college? No? Well here are some grainy YouTube videos. We’ll use you like that!”

Good point. Recruiting and landing are two different things.
Tre's got a nice jumper and if he could become a threat from outside, he and Ivey would be a deadly pick n pop combination.

My Dad brought this kids name up the other day. He is in the know on a very local level (Morning coffee with the guys). He said he is going to be at Purdue??
Looks like he picked up an offer from PSU recently..... assuming that Shrews was involved with his recruiting. I feel like he would be a solid addition.

McMillan looks good and fills a need. Maybe the other scholarship goes to a big. I doubt Trevion comes back for a fifth year but that would be nice too. Then grab a wing or combo guard if Ivey leaves.

McMillan for Hunter.
Jalen Washington for Trevion.
Fletcher Loyer for Sasha.
? for Ivey. Heide? Trimble would be nice too.

I wonder if it is either or on Trimble and McMillan. Not sure you want to overload the 1 spot.

Looks like we got another PG offer out

Trimble is EXPLOSIVE. Some of his plays at and above the rim remind me of Ivey type moves. Would absolutely love to land him but it looks like the big boys might be starting to poke around...

True but the articles I read, thinking he was related to Melo, talked about his brother (Tokoto) and how he might not be swayed by the big lights of UNC types.

Watched some of the Smith highlights. Not sure he’s a B10 level athlete. Nice jumper but not explosive or a finisher. Reminds me of Ryan Smith.
He doesn’t have much of an offer or interest list.

Tyger Campbell is 5’11”. Smith would need to be a great distributor and have great handles like Tyger. Will he be able to defend the bigger guards? We would be switching up between Morton and Smith potentially.

My concern is more towards weight than height. Tyger Campbell looks very sturdy on the court even if he is shorter. Didn't mean to be a knock on Smith, I watched his highlights and he is very skilled. I just worry that some kids have trouble putting on weight. An example I would give is PJ Thompson vs Isaiah. It seems to me like IT is more skilled and has more potential due to his length, but PJ was very stout so he was able to find success even though he is shorter

Love an in-state underdog but 247 lists him at 5'10" 165lbs. That just doesn't cut it. Hope he's growing
According to this article, he’s now a legit 6’.

Makes sense. Brothers but genetics are a fickle thing. Looking at Smith - he seems to have a sturdier build. I’ll put my trust in the staff on what they see and use to make their decisions.
