OT: NFL Playoff Trivia Question

Just heard this one on the Greenberg show: The 3 last CFP champions (LSU, Alabama, Georgia) each have a QB starting a playoff game this week (Burrow, Jones, Stafford). Who is the last QB for each of these schools to win a playoff game? (Google has really ruined trivia but it might not be so easy to google this hopefully) Admittedly I knew none of the answers off the top of my head.

Basketball gimmees in the B-10

After watching Northwestern take out Michigan State I was looking at the remaining schedule trying to see what easy games are left in B-10 play. Not much there. We only got to beat up Nebraska once and maybe Maryland will roll over? So we only hit the two weakest teams in the B-10 once.

If you have a weak effort almost any team in the B-10 can beat you this year. Nebraska was pretty bad, Sasha and Isaiah go 1-13 from three and we still crushed them. If we don't find more consistency I think getting a piece of the B-10 title is going to be a real long shot. I'm guessing we need to take two from Illinois to have a shot. Kofi scares me, I hope Zach can slow him down and draw a few fouls.

Purdue women's basketball Upon Further Review: Purdue's win over Nebraska

A closer look back at Purdue's 92-65 win over Nebraska ...

DEFENSIVE EFFECTIVENESS
This is going to be kinda quick, because the game was what it was, but here are a few snip-its ...

• For one thing, Zach Edey's presence around the basket clearly got between Nebraska's ears. He may not have gotten a ton of blocks or anything, but he really did a good job protecting the floor and running back on defense to do so.

• Isaiah Thompson and Eric Hunter did a nice job staying into Alonzo Verge, both full-court and in the halfcourt, and rendered him a non-factor. They had a lot of help from their help, but Thompson gave Verge little space and Hunter did the same.

The best sequence of the night for Purdue defensively might have been its coverage of this first half side screen, which starts with Nebraska trying to put Trevion Williams in the screening action for Verge.

Williams doesn't quite complete the trap on Verge, but Williams does take away his path forward and forces the over-dribbler to retreat.

Verge does retreat, but can't separate from Hunter, who shoots back over the screening congestion to meet Verge and take away his chance to take a (bad) shot.

Playing off Hunter's closeout, he tries to drive again and hit Lat Mayen rolling to the basket, but Williams drops back to not only choke off Verge's path to the basket but deflect his pass to Mayen.

Williams collects the turnover and gives off to Hunter to key a break. Williams sprints the floor off the turnover he forced and Hunter rewards him with an assist on a two-handed slam, very nearly dunking on Mason Gillis by accident.

Great defensive chemistry and tenacity and concentration there between the two seniors.

Thompson and Hunter were both very good on Verge, but Kobe Webster — who's not as talented as Verge, but might be a better play — did get away from Hunter a few times in an Indy-on-Indy matchup.

Here's another strong sequence, which started with Isaiah Thompson directing traffic in transition defense, talking and pointing out other players' (Brandon Newman's) bases to cover.

Nebraska tries to give-and-go with Verge and Derrick Walker, trying to back-door Thompson, who does challenge the pass, and stays right in Verge's shirt on his cut. When he tries to shake Thompson with a half-hearted shot fake, the pursuing defender manages to keep two feet on the floor and forces Verge to give the ball up, completely knocking Nebraska out of what they were trying to do. The possession ends with a turnover.

• The 4s were excellent in help.

At the tail end of Purdue's blitzkrieg to start the game, Nebraska went screen-and-roll with Eduardo Andre and hit him diving into an open lane. Gillis was Purdue's low man, though, and got to his position in an instant, walling him to cut off Andre and forcing him to make a pass he's not equipped to make to a back-side cutter. Turnover caused by perfect help D.

A few possessions later, one play after Derrick Walker scored one on one against Zach Edey, Caleb Furst comes in and absolutely blows up this post touch with a suffocating double team, forcing Walker to dribble out of it and try to reverse the ball. He throws it right to Isaiah Thompson.

Later, Furst gets to Walker again, pins him against the baseline and Walker throws it away.

• Jaden Ivey was just energized and attentive and didn't allow himself to be screened easily. He played the same way against backups as he did Bryce McGowens.

His energy really showed up on that one play where he bounced around like Spider-Man for a low-percentage challenge on a pass, managed to deflect it because he's a freakshow athletically, then ran it out and threw it off Derrick Walker.

WORTH NOTING
• Nebraska is an awful defensive team. They played Purdue one on one in the post to try to take away Purdue's shooters and did nothing effectively. When their bigs were on an island with Williams or Edey and the ball went up, they stood there.

Baylor-OKState

Watched about 10 minutes of first half .. tthings initially struck me

1. We better be good on offense against a 1-3-1 zone that pushes up high

2. On D, with only Tre or Edey on the court at a given time, we will struggle rebounding as they are tall, strong and athletic at the 4/5

3. Our PG’s are gonna have a hard time

Trevion Williams

I love Tre! He will go down as one of my favorite Boilers of all time. His unselfishness alone is incredible. His positive attitude and energy is so contagious. The way he has developed over the years is such a testament to how hard he has worked on his game. The shake on the block is becoming impossible to defend. His rebounding is relentless. His passing (although sometimes a little risky) is so much fun to watch. He looks like he just loves playing basketball. I hope he plays the best game of his career against Kofi, he deserves it.

PURDUE FOOTBALL

A few notes on the football staff ...

Assistant O-line coach Neil Callaway’s retirement wasn’t a surprise. It’s believed he told Jeff Brohm before the Indiana game that he was stepping down.

The 66-year-old has a desire to spend more time with family, but could be retained as a consultant. Dale Williams will remain as the offensive line coach for a sixth season. But Purdue will look for an assistant O-line coach. Or, the position could be assistant o-line/tight ends coach. Or, the position could be a tight ends coach.

It just depends on who Purdue hires and how they would best fit in.

Expect Purdue to be methodical in hiring a replacement for Co-DC/LB coach Brad Lambert. The option to promote Ron English to play-calling duties would seem to be on the table, and the James Adams situation has to play out before Purdue knows how many spots it has to fill on the defensive side. The more spots, the more flexibility. It's been thought that Adams could follow Lambert to Wake Forest, but there would have to be an opening there, obviously.

And it also won’t rush to replace Co-OC/WR coach JaMarcus Shephard. A two-week recruiting period begins on Friday, so staffers will be on the road. One potential candidate for the WR job is thought to be Taylor Stubblefield, the former Purdue All-American. He is the receivers coach at Penn State. It’s believed Stubblefield and Brohm have already talked.

The wide receiver position at Purdue should draw considerable interest, too. (TD)

PURDUE FOOTBALL RECRUITING

Recruiting visits can start back up again, and the only visitor we're aware of for Purdue this weekend is nose tackle Connor Lingren, a priority sort of prospect for the Boilermaker staff and one they've been willing to wait on.

You'll recall Lingren unofficially visited Purdue for the Indiana game, but never made an official prior to the early signing date. He did officially visit Vanderbilt prior to the December signing date, but held off on making a commitment and signing, seemingly intent to visit Purdue at all costs.

Arizona State has also since offered Lingren, but we've been unable to touch base with him this week to see if he has a visit scheduled with them or not. (BN)

PURDUE FOOTBALL RECRUITING

Purdue doesn’t anticipate landing Minnesota running back transfer Ky Thomas. He is a native of Topeka, Kan., and could end up signing with Kansas.

Purdue is still on Stanford running back Nathaniel Peat. But with classes starting on Monday, Peat would likely be unable to enroll for the spring semester, even if Purdue landed him.

Bottom line: Any portal addition Purdue gets now likely won’t be able to join the program until the summer. (TD)

PURDUE BASKETBALL RECRUITING

Camden Heide
is supposed to be sidelined for about three more weeks due to the foot injury that's sidelined him much of the season at Wasatch Academy in Utah.

He and Dravyn Gibbs-Lawhorn were both in LaPorte this past weekend for a tournament hosted by LaLumiere, but neither could play.

Gibbs-Lawhorn was sitting out due to Montverde's requirement that a player attend six days of classes before he can play. He debuts tonight against Camden High School from New Jersey.

Fletcher Loyer's season stats for Homestead: 26.9 points, five rebounds, 3.4 assists, 2.2 steals, 43% from the field and 34% from three. Those last two numbers are down from last season as he has to shoot more and take more tough ones without as much help offensively around him. Injuries haven't helped, either.

Braden Smith's season stats for Westfield, winner of seven straight: 19.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, six assists, 2.3 steals, 50% from the field and 44% from three-point range (wow).

We still have Hall of Fame Classic video from those guys we haven't been able to finish editing yet. (BN)

Question on "Conversations"

So somehow I stumbled on a "Conversations" tab that is like private messages. Stuff going back 4 years, ranging from "meet me at locker #3 you ahole" to highly sensitive Intel that posters asked me not to share. Have never seen any of it before. So apologies for not responding to posters that sent me intel.

A) how do i know when I get one of these messages
B) how do I access it to monitor in future

Is this the direct messages everyone refers to when buying tickets.

And yes probably deserve some good Germans pictures or "I am an idiot" pictures.
