Went from a #7 vs. #25 matchup to a #4 vs. #17 in the first half.

Does this make up for the Rutgers loss in the Big Ten race? It's a big win no matter how you look at it.

This game could be an indication on how far Purdue can go this year. It won't be easy. Illinois has the bugs,,the quickness,speed, atheleticism and shooting to be very hard for Purdue to overcome. Especially at Illinois and with Purdue difficulties on defense. At least 7 of these ten things have to happen for Purdue to win,min no particular order:

1.Purdue will need to score 85+ point. Illinois averages 80, likely to do that or better against Purdue.
2.Bigs need to stay out of early foul trouble.
3. Ivey will need to score 20 plus and stay mostly under control
4. Some role player or two,Furst, Morton, Newman, Thompson, Hunter,will have to make a positive contribution.
5.Edey / Williams will need to total at last 30/15
6.Sasha will need to shoot 40% and hit at least three threes.
7.Ivey will need to play like Ivey.
8.Bigs and Ivey get Kofi in foul trouble
9.Purdue shoots close to 50%
10. Purdue turns it over 15 times or less, no more than 1 turnovers for touchdowns. ( Directly leading to scores)

Great game by Hunter today. Appreciate his tenacity and smarts in this game. Hopefully these last couple of games are indicators for the remainder of the season.

Some fantastic plays CMP drew up given the game situation. I think we got at least 4 easy points in OT with that play at critical times. Fantastic In-Game coaching, IMO.

Purdue had the rebound with around 12 seconds left and Ivey walked it up the court then threw up a L O N G 3pt when a 2pt basket (or foul and made free throw) would have done it. I would have ran it up the court and tossed it down low for an inside/outside play.

Maybe the plan was to take them to OOT and drag it out as the Purdue's bench is deep and CMP didn't want anything like the Rutger's shot.

I’ve been as disappointed with Hunter’s play as anyone, but he played really well today. Deserves a ton of credit. It would be a game changer for this team if he can keep that up. Fortunately they didn’t really pressure the ball any and that is when he seems to struggle with the most.
