Painter on Jack Benter

Or sooner if there are injuries but he’s not a bad guy to have on the team!
Or transfers. You need stars too to achieve at the highest level but having a bunch of guys like Benter who are good athletes, buy the team concept, can shoot and know the game is what I mean by a very high floor.

who takes over the offense?

The only person on the offensive staff who was here when we were winning. Was a decent TE…can’t be worse than what we had calling the plays.

Newsflash…we aren’t hiring somebody mid year to step in. The offense is already installed. We won’t be switching it up. We are only switching the play caller.
Jerry Kill is now a consultant with Vanderbilt, and see how they've improved. I doubt that he'd leave them for us, but we should try to hire a similar consultant to help call the plays. Always an overachiever with what players he's been given. In 2009 his NIU team whipped Purdue handily, and I'm sure he also beat them while coaching at Minnesota. Just a highly successful coach wherever he goes, and probably would be now a top name coach if it hadn't been for his medical issues.
What's Jim Chaney doing these days?

Truly feel IU is NOT…

Agree completely that coaching is the main difference. IU may be more talented. I can't claim that I know that much about their roster. But I think their coach knows who he is and what he wants to do. He knows what he needs to do what he wants to do and doesn't need 4-star talent at every position to succeed. If I'm not mistaken, he brought alot with him from JMU. That's what we had with Tiller and Brohm.
His team is disciplined. Ours is … not.

How do you even fix this offense?

They say in gambling, you should never bet more than you can afford to lose.

Obviously the Purdue AD never heard of that phrase. He paid Hazell way too much money to be a head coach after 1 good season. He paid Brohm too much money on his extension. When he first threatened to leave for Louisville .

And now Purdue will keep Walters for another year because they can’t afford to pay him the $9 million buyout And hire another coach.

Think about it. If Purdue buys out Walters, they will have to spend $9 million for the buyout plus another $8-10 million for another head coach. No way can Purdue afford to spend $17-20 million just for a head coach next year.

Like gambling, Purdue should have never given Walters the contract they gave him if they couldn’t afford to buy him out. They should have started out giving their head coach $3-5 million And then increase his salary based on His performance/success.

Admittedly no big name coach would have accepted an offer of only $3-5 million. But the reality is somebody would have. Hope was getting paid less than $1 million. I have to believe. There’s a coach somewhere out there who would have come cheap.

Two guys I would have tried to hire. Are Coach kill. And Tommy Bowden. They both enjoyed success at the division 1 level and both would have signed for half of what Purdue shelled out for Walters!

Why spend your money on a Lexus, when a Camry will get the job done at half the price!!! And a Camry is still better than 75% of the competition!

I've thought this all along. CRW would have come here for a lot less money. I was SHOCKED when I heard what they paid him to come here. He was defensive coordinator, and IMO, would have jumped at the chance to be HC for a lot less money.

Increase his pay if he's successful, cut him loose if he's not.

MBob calls the rest of the staff into his office tomorrow morning. “I’ve got bad news and good news. The bad news is you’re all fired. The good news is you’ve got 8 games to earn your jobs back.”
I don't think MBob was involved. It was pretty obvious that the O wasn't working and the guy in charge made a quick fire. What happens next will determine his outcome.

And I posted a reply. It is not easy keeping up with your lib gib.
Protecting allies is now a liberal concept? Hoo boy.

And as predicted, when you are exposed and owned, you revert to labeling and frustrated first grader name calling.

Can you not stop labeling and name calling even when just a few posts ago multiple people warned that’s where you will sadly end up?

Do better!

I just posted this, geez!

“Why do you think we are the world’s economic engine? It’s in a real part because we have agreements to protect our allies, which leads to innumerable trade deals. It’s also because the world’s developed nations consider us the best hope for the world and against tyranny.”

More talented than us but it’s pretty obvious that coaching means a lot to their success.

People on here over the summer got too tied up in recruiting rankings of this coach, recruiting rankings of the previous coach and not focused on the actual on field results.

Most every FBS team has enough talent to win 6…the true difference is what is the staff doing scheme wise to get the most out of what they do have?
Wouldn't be the first time that people have complained about recruiting rankings on here.

If we get someone that is not in the Rivals Top 75 in basketball, people are ready to say that Painter cannot recruit.

It may be in Europe's best interests, but how is in the US best interests?

Are you worried about an invasion by the incompetent Russian army?

I guess Walters was feeling the heat. People that thought that Walters would not be let go after 2 years might be convinced otherwise now. Walters will now be fighting to prove he deserves to be the head coach. I think he is over his head, but willing to give him a chance to show otherwise.

It was the right decision to let Harrell go. We were taking steps backwards on offense. If Card does not improve with a new coordinator, then he needs to be benched. There are no other excuses that can be used.

Hopefully, we will see the offense offer a little excitement going forward.
