Benson only made the IHSAA State Finals during his sophomore season losing in the afternoon at Hinkle Fieldhouse to Elkhart Central in OT, lost to Yorktown (Parkinson) his junior year in the New Castle Regional, again lost in the New Castle Regional during his senior season.
was at the game in New Castle when Yorktown beat New Castle, Parkinson took it to Benson

That is not true at all. Many have been vaccinated and still get COVID. People wear masks and still get COVID. Some don’t wear masks and don’t get COVID. Some don’t get vaccinated and don’t get COVID. So which way is the science right?

Don’t forget to stay 6 to 10 feet in spacing from people during the pandemic. Lol

I find it amazing that @BB62 hasn’t replied to this post. (When the exact scenario is written about in an AP news article).🤔

WBB starting Lineup 24-25

With less than two weeks away before the first exhibition game, I thought I'd throw out my starting lineup prediction with some thoughts compared to last years main lineup.

1. A. Reynolds
2. Spider Jones
3. Swanson
4. Bass
5. McCarthy

Overall, I believe this lineup is more athletic and talented than last years starting lineup. Although we lack the experience, I think we may be a better team because of the upgrade in athleticism.

I'm excited to see what Amiyah can bring to the table. No doubt we'll miss Terry's rebounding, but I think Amiyah will bring more of a scoring punch to the PG spot. I also like her length, as long as the quickness is there, she could be a hell of a defender.

I'm expecting a noticeable jump in development from Jones and Swanson.
Bass should be a steady presence for us with all the experience she brings.

Mccarthy has good height and reports are she moves well for her size. I'd guess she would be a upgrade defensively from C.Harper based on those two points above. Hopefully she can communicate call outs as well as Caitlyn did.

Tough schedule, but I'm looking forward to seeing the team play.
I agree with your lineup except I think Alaina Harper will be the starter at the 5. I think Bass will be the leading scorer and rebounder on the season. Followed by Swanson as the second leading scorer. I'm most excited to Amiyah Reynolds play....I've been hearing about her for two years now. I'm anxious to see what all the hype is about.

I'm expecting a winning season. Anything below .500 will be disappointing to me. Can't wait to get started.

Tbh, I trust painter and his evaluation for what’s best.
Agree. This team was always going to be about how far Braden, Fetch, and Trey could carry them and who are the best players to complement those three.

What if instead of Myles and Cam providing upside on offense, your other two starters are Gicarri and Caleb with a focus on just playing smart, nasty defense, great effort on both heads of the floor and rebounding the heck out of the ball?

Myles, Cam and at least one of the bigs will have their roles. For anyone to assume that they know better than MP how best to maximize the upside of this team is either pure hubris or the Sleepers type of hot take clickbait nonsense.

New helmet for Oregon

if our O is unable to stay on the field much, I really don't know how the Ducks don't score 3 TD's in each of the 1st 3 quarters then call the ducks off. Our D doesn't generate any pass rush and Gabriel should be able to pass at will. The thought of Johnson going against Green is like taking candy from a baby
And Oregon will only have their first and second string players.......... Oh my..

If IU pulls off this class of Sisley/ Mullins/Haralson/Reibe.....

A question for the old timers. We often talk about IU always wining the off season.

How highly thought of were the recruiting classes that included Isaiah Thomas. And Buckner and Benson and Landon Turner and Scotty May

I remember following Buckner from his high school days in Chicago. I remember other guards had a lot better stats, but he produced wins!

I remember Thomas was pretty highly regarded. But how great were May and Benson in high school?

I recall Bailey and Alford had great high school careers. But how high were they rated nationally?

I’m just curious , were these players awesome players in high school? Did the IU coaching staff develop them or elevate their game?

I wonder how these players would have done if they had played for Keady? And how many of these players were actually recruited by Keady?
Thomas, Alford, and Bailey were 1st Team AA. Not sure about May and Benson.

It's like MAGA is proud to question everything. It's cool to be white and cynical.......and flip the bird to the world. Anti government, anti technology, anti science. You can't watch TV unless the wind is blowing or the sun is shining. You only get a trickle of water out of the faucet. Rising ocean levels mean more coastline. Inject disinfectant. Nuking hurricanes. This is who you're believing. Lol

So proud to choose to remain so stupid........and tell the world about it. Unbelievable.

Do seatbelts protect people from dying in car crashes? Do bulletproof vests protect people from gunshots? Do helmets protect football players from concussions? Do door locks protect people from home invaders? Do condoms protect people from pregnancy and STIs? Just because protection can fail doesn't mean it wasn't protection. On COVID vaccines, the data is pretty clear that it does protect people from infection. And even when that protection fails (as all protections can), it also protects against the more severe possible consequences.
The data has been proven wrong about people being protected from COVID. Why do vaccinated people get COVID? People have still died and have suffered other conditions such as blood clots.

Gicarri Harris

There’s talk on the other board about how good Harris is already. Brian has gone as far as to say he will probably start and that he is a great defender, possibly one of the best we have seen at Purdue.
Some people (IU fans) are saying it’s a bad sign that a frosh is starting over Heide/Colvin but Brian has explained it as Painter wanting a second ball handler next to Smith and not a knock on the two sophomores.

My question is, for you, is it a bad sign or is it a good sign that a frosh is possibly winning a starters role out of the gate?

For me it’s a good sign. We are incredibly deep with talent and we all know that Heide and Colvin are solid players. It’s going to be tough for Painter to manage the minutes with this much talent. Harris being BigDogs son makes this turn of events even more reasonable to me. We knew he was good but to see him win a starters spot right out of the gate is a very good sign that we indeed have a ton of talent on this years team.
Great sign. When good reports started coming out of practice about Braden Smith his freshman year, some people thought it spelled trouble for Purdue. Let the IU fans think we are in trouble. 😁 Painter found his future Lance Jones.

100% true and accurate. And thank God it has been true.

My post awhile back , who fills Lance's shoes , was a critical pc..Lance helped take us beyond 1 dimensional, provided the X factor with ball handling , for CMP not to go the portal, perhaps he had insight hopes in this. We definitely need it , to maintain greatness.
sorry - probably missed it!

He certainly has the pedigree and I’m excited to watch his development.

Gicarri Harris

One other thing - Painter had Morton and Jenkins. Each provided something to the team but never 100% relief for Braden having the ball at all times. No knock on either of them but they were missing something.

Lance had that “it” factor to him. Hard nosed defender, balls of steel to take a shot when we needed it and a short term memory. I assume Gicarri has “it” as well.

Lastly, look at teams who make deep runs consistently and what they have in common - multiple ball-handlers who can go and get a bucket.

Is there? Examples?
COVID vaccines protecting people from getting it. The ice age coming back in the 70s. Running out of oil by a certain time and that time has passed a few times already. Weather forecasting is wrong almost as much as right. There’s only so many tons of certain minerals in the ground yet more is mined all the time. All kinds of space science bs has proven to be wrong over time too.

Radio just reported that K2 said Donald Trump's name 21 times in what was a 24 minute FOX interview.

Now that is what I call preaching to the base. Similar to Trump and these stupid rallies....preaching to the choir. Useless.

Thus, any reasonable person would have to conclude her Fox interview was a total failure IF the goal was a closing message for independents & last minute voters who are not lunatic Trump haters like the extremes on here, or her base is.
Who’s name is she supposed say, Spiro T. Agnew?

I’d say it means Gicarri is being rewarded for not being afraid of competing for minutes.

Has it? Any more so than normal? And, to the extent you're correct, the only thing that's shown science to be wrong is better science, not proverbs or "common sense." So, I'll offer the same to you I did Sky: if you think the scientific consensus is wrong on any of the three issues I've referenced in this thread, complete a study to demonstrate that consensus is incorrect. Your Nobel awaits.
