Indinia is 6-0 and . . .

Indiana is 6-0 because of schedule but also, being a good team. It's both. Before last week, Indiana actually had a better SOS than Ohio State(like 108 to 109). Cignetti just told dudes who didn't want to buy in to leave. Dudes who wanted that soft Tom Allen coaching. Brought in some guys like Rourke, Sarratt and Fisher who were really good at Ohio and JMU. I don't think Indiana is anywhere near the level of Ohio State or Oregon or Penn State but they seem to be on the same level right now as at least Michigan for the moment.

Purdue picked to win Big Ten

You just named 7 teams, and indiana is probably the lowest Brand of those. You’re proving my point that indiana is not a top 5 brand. By verifying everyone I said plus Louisville is above them. Forbes also said Kentucky and Louisville are $20m+ more valuable than indiana now. Is that really true? No one knows how they come up with their numbers. Are they even relevant? No. Case in point is kentuckys coach left to get more money somewhere else and Louisville hasn’t done anything in 10 years and had a meh hire. Let’s be honest woodson was not at the top of indianas list either. I did think crean was a good hire back in the day but their past hires have been underwhelming and deep on the wishlist.

My other point you have not addressed is who gives a crap about brands. It doesn’t win you games, land you elite recruits, bring in top coaches, or get you big matchups or bring in the revenue like football does.
Louisville and Kentucky make crazy money. Duke... No clue. I don't think they put their numbers out. But it's Duke. Kansas is another great. North Carolina obviously and they have the image of their past NBA greats(and the GOAT himself). But Indiana is right up there with them. Does Indiana has the success on the court? Not in the last couple decades but just as a brand itself? Yea. Indiana elite in that. And hopefully that brand can allow Indiana to start winning again in the NIL era.

Why Trump is appealing to a higher % of Minorities

Please name a politician that doesn’t.
Perhaps they do all lie but you are severely a Flavor Aider if are comparing the gross mishandling of the truth of Chump to any other politician. During a national presidential debate, Chump is spreading conspiracy theory lies that the Haitians were eating cats was the most ridiculous statement I have ever witness during a debate. I’ve been watching presidential debates since 1980.

6.5 min of scrimmage yesterday…

If this is the case, I predict Daniel takes Berg's spot at some point in the season. I think he has more weapons to his game.
There’s been a lot of speculation on that but based on the video I thnk he’s got a lot to learn on defense. If he can let the game slow down, be more physical, and understand his defensive positioning better he will be very good. He just doesn’t have the quickness to overcompensate for not being in position. But he had good movement and his shooting looked great. In an offense with a lot of movement I can see him thriving if he can improve his screening so I do think with Time we can build an offense around him.

Sebastian Williams-Adams official visit this weekend

I went and checked on3. Most recent article was from an SMU reporter that he did an interview with. SWA said he's entering decision mode after his Vandy visit, and isn't gonna go into 2025 w/o making his college commitment. Fingers crossed.
As of this moment, SWA 247 sports profile says "warmer" for Vanderbilt and Auburn,
"warm" for Oklahoma State and Texas A&M, and "cool" for Purdue and Kansas.

Any chance Furst has a breakout year?

Good interview I didn't catch last week. What stands out is Painter is ALL in on low TOs and outrebounding opponents.

It makes sense why he is favoring Furst/Berg/Jacobson with TKR over going small with Heide at the 4. He wants to continue pounding teams on glass.

Also makes sense why Harris is rumored to start. The added ballhandling and defensive hawk to potentially win the TO war.

Interesting side note from interview is that team did not want to play in the B1G tournament last year. Don't tell Illinois fans there should be an asterisk next to their title, lol.

6.5 min of scrimmage yesterday…

I watched this several times. A few takeaways:

Love all the passing. We have a lot of good shooters, high IQ players, and good passers. I think that will be a much bigger part of our offense this year, perimeter passing.

Braden is freakin good. Anyone who says he’s going to lose a step without Edey doesn’t know basketball. He can play!

I thought Furst looked really good. Hustle, great screens, good defense.

I liked Harris physicality and he has a good looking shot.

TKR, Heide, Colvin, and Fletch all looked like their usual self, nothing jumped out at me as they will make a big leap except TKR did really good cleaning up around the rim and without Edey I think he will score a lot of put backs.

Cox flashed potential but had 3+ turnovers from steals, and they didn’t show any turnovers from just bad plays. He was able to create his own shot and shoot but not sure he will be a plug and play in Matt’s system.

I was a bit disappointed in Jacobsen. I thought he was good but people here talk like he will be starting early on. He has a lot to learn, he was out of position a lot and seemed, well, soft. I thought berg played more physical, was in better position, and seemed to play more disciplined basketball even if Jacobsen looked more talented. All of this really should be expected of a true fresh especially going into a big ten program, and reality set in.

I’m no coach, but based on what I saw I actually wouldn’t mind a lineup of TKR at 5 and Furst at the 4. Nothing against Berg, I just liked what I saw out of Caleb. And nothing against Heide and Colvin, I just feel like Harris has the energy and the full package.

How much of it’s talent?

I can’t believe we have that much of a talent deficit to the point where we’re not even competitive.
Granted, we don’t have Bama, ND or Texas talent, but we’re not a MAC level either.
In my opinion, it’s a lot of scheme and just not having guys ready or in position or maximizing what they do well while minimizing what they don’t.
It is definitely coaching, but it is also definitely a talent deficit. That game last night showed both. Yes, they only beat us by 35, but it could have been so much worse.

We have no pass rushers. Their QB could have written a book out there last night. Their WRs had so much more speed and athletic ability than our secondary. Their DL had Browne running for his life all last night. Our WRs are the worst WR group in the BT. That is why we run the ball so much, because our OL is so porous and the WRs cannot create separation, catch the ball, come back to the ball to help the QB, etc.

The only positive on this team is that Mock and Love had looked good at times, because of the lack of WRs. Browne could be good, if he could get a line to help him out and a couple of WRs to catch the ball.

Pretty wide gap last night but on the whole no…there were 8 teams in Thais schedule we should beat or compete with.

How players feel now

Yeah, if you're going to do that you better run the ball like army and navy.

Speaking of: I actually give Walters some credit for reviving the run game. That always seemed like an afterthought under Brohm. Of course, you don't have much of a choice when the passing game struggles to complete throws longer than 10 yards.
Of course, he had to revive the run game. Our WRs are the worst WR bunch in the Big Ten. Klare is the only one that has any hands and even he fumbled last night. They create no separation, because they have no speed. They run wrong routes. They never come back to the ball to help out our QB. Even those idiots of announcers last night, Brando and Gardner, mentioned that.

Speaking of Brando, did any hear the last 2 minutes of the game about how Walters is doing a great job and you cannot judge a coach by his win/loss record?

He is creating a culture. Yes, he is creating a culture of mediocrity. Yes, you cannot always judge a coach by his win loss record. That is true. However, what is also true is that Walter's team is taking 3 to 4 steps backwards. You need to see improvement and be competitive, if you are not judging someone on their win/loss record. This team is beyond words and worlds bad.

A few people said earlier in the year that the Walters era was worst than the Hazell era. I initially disputed that. However, I am sorry to say that I actually agree with that now.

I took Purdue at +29.5 I am hoping for a win, not just a cover

One bet that I took for this one was over Oregon's team total of 44.5. Some places have it at 43.5. I don't know how we stop their speed all over the field.
Well, the refs helped that a little bit in the first half with making 5 to 6 additional plays on TDs. We ran the ball all the time, because there is no reason to pass with this group of WRs, so the clock did not stop much on our side.
Also, I think Oregon was a little tired from their big match up last week and flying cross country. Plus, I think they were not trying to do too much and risk getting any of their best players hurt. They knew there was no way we could remotely match up with them and win this game.
