I'm not sure of that. If Satterfield had not jumped Brohm wouldn't have left. Satterfield knew some wanted Brohm and were looking to fire him no matter what. Satterfield had done a decent job in recruiting and got them to a bowl game so it was questionable whether he would leave or not. But obviously he had heard the rumbles and bolted. If that was the case Bobinski was truly in a box. Not able to truly call anyone to get real interest until Brohm said he was leaving.

what hole in the lineup would Painter need to fill next year to make serious run at a NC? Is it that 6'7 wing scorer who can get you the tough bucket on a clear out in crunch time?
Is it a 6'4 ball handling guard, Ivey type, where you can give him the ball and tell him to find a way to get a score?

With that info flying around the recruiting landscape, can you imagine the fuel that is creating for other coaching staffs to undermine CRW's recruitment of players....
At the end of Hazell's last recruiting class, I recall a Gold and Black article where Purdue was trying sway a Western Michigan 2 star WR in the 11th hour of the signing date..... That's what happens when everyone on the street knows more about the state of your program than the admin does.....

I never thought that Brohm as a good hire. Whenever you hire someone who makes it clear that they have a specific dream job elsewhere and they will jump as soon as it is open, you should pass and look for a long-term investment.

What does Purdue do? They hire a young inexperienced coach that may have potential. They needed to hire a veteran head coach that could take over the remainder of what Brohm built.

I think I'm to the point where I don't want anyone to redshirt ever. With the transfer portal, it's unlikely guys will play 5 years for Purdue even if they do redshirt so I'd prefer guys get whatever minutes they can and/or be ready if injury happens.

Jacobson and Burgess will see more benefit from getting some run in games early in the season than redshirting IMO. And with Furst being the only projected loss next season (and the Final Four being in Indy), I want everyone to get as much game experience as possible. The lone exception would be Benter because he may be 2 years away from contributing given the logjam we project to have at the wing.

With the CRW hiring having gone so poorly, we need a winning coach that has momentum. Our football program is dead in water and it needs a coach that has a record of rebuilding a program.
When Brohm left,his departure and prior two years of recruiting hurt our program....
In CRW, his lack of experience in various coaching and program building facets were no match for the job at hand.
