IU basketball won't leave Atlantis empty-handed, finds stroke vs. Providence for 7th-place finish

Always, always look at the bright side. They didn't finish dead last. And they had 2 good losses. All that NIL money wasn't COMPLETELY wasted.

Jacobsen Update Anyone?

I am not saying that we would want him to do it, because he would have to get back in condition.

However, it seems that he is doing really well, is there a chance that he could possibly come back this year or is this injury a normal 6 to 8 month turnaround?
even if there is a chance, he was very weak to begin with. Now he's not played or run in a month or more and will have to strengthen the muscles just to get BACK to where he was as a very weak, true freshman. And that's not touching on how long it takes for a bone to heal and why it broke in the first (furst?) place. When healthy.
Or on team chemistry and everything that's changed since he went down. He'd be back playing as true freshman with 3 or 4 games experience without all these games since and future that everyone else has gone through.
Let him R&R.

2024 OLd Oaken Bucket Game: MASYTER DISCUSSION THREAD

Purdue is trying to avoid its longest losing streak in 116 years. The last time it lost 11 in a row was all five games of the 1906 season, all five games of the 1907 season, and the season opener in 1908 before Earlham 40-0.

It could be worse. The 1906 season was so bad Purdue scored a grand total of five points.

Smith's shooting

Still gotta knock em down though. And he hasn’t hit the open ones as much as he did last year. He has tried fading more and while he can hit it, he’s making it hard on himself. Pretty sure he will start to get more open looks once teams go to drop coverage more to stop TKR on the dive from the PnR.
and as they continue to pick with the forwards, leading to more pic and pops for them.

It's hard to say how this Indiana team will break. The way they roughed up Providence shows the potential is there for an elite team. Recent history, on the other hand, suggests inconsistency and frustration.

My gut tells me this: Indiana's season will be defined more by their toughness than their talent.
That providence team finished playing their previous night game a little over 12 hours before the tip before IU….they probably were a bit more tired than IU and I think they were missing a key player all tourney.

Non-freshman 3P shooting

As always tends to happen, our freshmen (excl Burgess on 4 shots) are struggling from three. The freshman class is a combined 9-38 (23.7%) from three early, with Gicarri contributing just 15% (3-20) to that number.

But the non-freshman have been tremendous. The five non-freshman on the roster are all shooting 40% or better and that group is a collective 58/121 (47.9%) from three. That's tremendous.

Neb 10 Iowa 0 half

They will be mostly walk-ons. The new 105 scholarship rule going into next season is also limiting total numbers on the roster. Seems silly the NCAA would care about walk-ons, who cost the schools close to nothing, but Nebraska has appx 65 walk-ons, some who may look to go elsewhere. Most will probably just stay there and become regular students.

Lots of smoke Raiola may be looking around. Also, newly in-season hired OC Dana Holgerson might be looking for another gig either as a HC or OC.
lol. People didn’t scream at the top of their lungs about transfers without sitting out coupled with NIL. Now you have increased schollies so the blue bloods can horde players? Sweet

I think he’s out for the year…not sure it’s worth it for him to come back.

IU fans must be in meltdown mode!!

Up or down 20, the defensive pressure eases up, as does the pressure of making shots when they are more important to a team win. Assuming team wins are important to the shooter. Not a new concept.
Okay so how many 3s do we need to take away from Loyer over the last 3 years? How many 3s do we need to take away from Steph Curry over his career?
