Lots of teams looking for HC's right now.

I don't think you are necessarily wrong but a coach at this junction will be looking at a 3 to 5 year window. UNC could offer a good mix of decent enough current roster, good nil, etc.

If I was Dan Mullen I'd prefer UNC over Purdue. Win 10 games in a weak acc and become a top SEC hire in a couple or so years.

Going to purdue will be a 5 year rebuild to get to that spot.

Now a younger coach with less track record may prefer purdue since he is basically going to have a few years to right the ship.
I disagree on the 5 year rebuild. NIL and the portal have shown a rebuild can happen in 1 year.

Lots of teams looking for HC's right now.

I disagree UNC being a better job. The ACC is in no mans land and likely to lose there 3 premier football programs. Purdue has the advantage in $$, stadium size, student enrollment, etc. UNC wil always be first and foremost a bball school.

Unforgivable.

Do we have big NIL donors? From what BC told us all year we don’t! lol.

I think our ticket to being competitive is the revenue sharing route. Dump “marketing” money into the football program and get guys that way vs being worried about 50k of NIL funds here or there.

Start payment “Tiers” of players and move them up or down based on performance. Fill in with actual NIL deals for the good players and we should be pretty competitive NIL wise overall.

Then all we need is a solid coach!
I suppose the NIL people controlling the $ only share the financial details if you're a mega donor?

My choice for next coach is….

Dolly Parton! Think of how great our half time shows would be. The games would all be sold out. The press conferences would be fun to watch. Dolly is a proven recruiter. And money raiser. She has tremendous organizational skills. She has success written all over here. Sure, she’s old, but I believe we need a more mature coach. She could bring in Miley Cyrus to be our offensive coordinator. Purdue’s offense could be known as the wrecking ball. Just think what our locker room would be like with Miley yelling at you and getting in your face. And we could have Hank Williams jr as our defensive coordinator.

Ask yourself, what’s the purpose of college football? It’s no longer about building ethics and leadership. It’s about entertainment. It’s about generating revenue. So let’s bring in some people who know how to entertain! Rather than catching passes, the players could make passes. Just bring the entire grand ole opry to Purdue on Saturdays and entertain people .

Ask yourself. If you had $100 to spend, would you rather spend it watching a college football game? Or a 3 hour country concert?

I know what you are thinking. He’s crazy! But in reality, this would reduce the costs of facilities and training. We could sell more tickets and charge more. People would be happy and go home entertained.

We need to follow the lead of the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl is no longer about the game of football. It’s about entertainment and producing revenue!

And for guys like Cho Cho, just think of all the different ways you could generate money Placing bets on totally random things!

Give it some thought! Maybe Dolly as our new AD instead of head coach. She could sure turn this program around! Give the fans some chicken while the horse stampede the field. People pay over $100 to watch that in Gatlinburg!

Sure a couple of you would complain! But you would complain anyway!
You have an imagination. Doesn't really relate to the problem at hand
I would never take credit for posting this.

Biden must have forgotten he pledged not to pardon Hunter

I blame this on Trump. He should have told Joe he would pardon Hunter to unite the country.

Actually, Trump did this in 2017, when he did not pursue Hillary. Hillary did the same as Hunter and Joe with her pay-to-play foundation. I believe Joe is not that smart and copied her when setting up his process.

The problem is that the media never credited Trump for helping unite the country; hopefully, Trump will force out the much-needed crime and corruption in the DC Swamp, and this will trickle down to the Global Corporation that owns the media.

I look forward to the country uniting again.

Not really...

P5

Purdue

UNC

WVU

We are currently the only P2 school

Likely cost will be 6 to 7 million a year

Which would be top Big 12 or ACC pay.

Id say right now UNC is a better job but I think we edge out WVU.

Being a coach in b1g or sec will be a huge advantage after profit sharing. I think UNC can edge us out given their bball blue blood status will lend itself to a better nil system. WVU doesn't have that and will likely be 1 to 2 mill cheaper than purdue.

We may have to wait a while or go low to the lesser coaches. Speed to hire killed us the last time. So I don't mind waiting to get a good fit. What about Dana Holgorson? He is on a temporary hire at Nebraska.
Holgorson was not well liked by the folks I know in Houston. Seriously doubt he would even be thought of.

These hirings tend to move very quickly. We should not be starting from scratch. Feelers should have been out out weeks ago.

Hopefully, this time, Purdue has some meaningful criteria to go by, instead of just picking a warm body. It would be nice to have someone who has HC experience, is innovative, knows how to use the transfer portal and has had experience turning a losing program into a winning one. If this turns out to be another 5 day search, like the last one, than we know that Purdue is not making a serious search!

The December 5

I love and hate the tough schedule. One huge advantage we have is experienced guards. One disadvantage is we are the hunted and every game means so much more to the opponent. Another disadvantage is without a roster full of transfers we are easier to scout. I watched Auburn play Iowa St. and NC. They are beatable but unlikely to lose in Birmingham.
All true but this is how it’ll be in conference and March, so def better to experience it all now and be ready for it at the end of the season, rather than be shocked/have a let down in March.

As a fan, it’s awesome to watch such great games. I can’t imagine just playing cupcake after cupcake, winning by 15-20+, being so confident your team is good and then being so shocked your team gets mopped off the floor by a mediocre/decent team that can actually knock down shots and match your athleticism.

Colvin and Hiede

For sure. But it also changes the team greatly, going from small to very big. Can you imagine Trey in another season of progression going against 4's?? With him posting against 4's and DJ pulling the center out of the paint and 3 drop dead shooters around them?? Give me, give me that possibly dominating team size and makeup. either Cam or Myles would be fire off the bench. or pretty ok with Daniel being the X factor off the bench as needed.
I think he’s at more of an advantage vs 5s. Quicker and great footwork. Teams are going to start throwing everything at him, double teams, taller players, shorter players, different looks and he’s ready for it. He’s been going vs the NPOTYx2 for 3 years and was busting his ass in practice every day (according to smith, Loyer and paint). You could see how good Trey could be during the scrimmage last year, bur he just wasn’t the focal point of the offense.

Really glad everyone gets to see how great he is and can be. If he could hit his FTs at a higher %, he’d average even more points. Hope that improves and hope he keeps rebounding. Him and Braden are unstoppable in the PnR and TKR is so far, our second best playmaker.

The December 5

Only reason as a fan to hate it is for the stress of close games.
For the team getting better there is no debate.
Remember all those Boiler teams that were good, but seemed to lay an egg come tourney time?
THOSE results are the why.
None of these game results mean much come March.
What does mean something is the experience and toughness the team develops during stressful, close games.
Especially handling pressure in a hostile environment and keeping your composure.
Invaluable come tourney time.
Only way to learn it is is to earn it.
These games for sure mean a lot come March. We will be on here debating resumes and so will the selection committee. PU getting a number 1 seed the past 2 years wasn't just because we won the B1G. It was because we played very well in the pre-conference and beat some very good teams. These games do matter.

My Weekly CBB Top 25

You not having UConn and the Baby in the top 25 is surprising, especially after their nearly 100 point win over some community college. JK. I do see Purdue jumping back into the top 10, fwiw.
I almost put Purdue at 10, but Florida has been super impressive as well and are 8-0. Oregon also kept Purdue out but they've also been super impressive to begin the year. There were A LOT of changes. And yea, I definitely dropped UConn out. The AP will refuse to, but they don't deserve to be in right now. UCon , UNC, Houston, Indiana, Creighton all have a lot to prove going forward.

How attractive is the Purdue job right now?

I always find it weird how the biggest Debbie downers on this board were also the biggest Walter driders when everyone else was on the fire him bandwagon week 3 or 4.

Purdue is one of the best available jobs.

There is only purdue, unc, and wvu when it comes to p5.

Purdue is the only p2 school. That means a lot of revenue sharing in the coming years. UNC may be able to counter that with NIL money as they will have 🏀 blue blood status and have been paying Big bucks for players for a couple decades id guesstimate.

West Virginia isn't a rich school, it isn't a rich state, it isn't a blue blood by any stretch. I can't imagine their NIL plus revenue share will over take ours.

Unless there is a surprise firing (Stoops?), I don't see much changing.
Isn’t Stoops the best coach they’ve ever had?
