Full Ride with Childers and Neuheisel (sic?) talked at length about the Oklahoma St situation this morning. Basically it's a disaster. Picked to be near or at the top of the B12 this year, they didn't win a conference game. So they made a deal with Gundy that instead of firing him, they cut his salary and his buyout, and that money seems to be funneling to the players somehow. They talked about the DC hire, but nothing about OC that I heard. But if his salary got cut, you have to think the assistant pool didn't get any bigger, so Purdue, with Odom, in the better conference, would have to be a better opportunity.

Like a lot of us more gravity challenged he (seems to) needs a running start to throw it down. Flat footed off both feet is not his strength. Agreed, he needs dunk it. But harder to commit if you know you cant' get there every time.
Or maybe he can throw it down flatfooted but shies from the contact? Seems less likely given his willingness to bang in the paint defensively. He definitely crouches down to collect himself for an all out effort. I'd like to see him just GO. RIGHT NOW, no hesitation or collecting of self. Speed to the rim. Plenty of those misses he could have gone right up and been there BEFORE the defender can react.
Watch Fletch in the lane, get it off QUICK can work just as well as going over people. Just not as much fun to watch.

He's definitely worried about getting blocked, which will happen. But he's got to commit and attack. Just go hard and try to draw contact.

I actually ended up agreeing with many people here by the end of the Walters era. We need an offensive innovator. Not a “football guy.” A leader of men will just end up getting beat by leaders of men with better Jimmys and Joes here

I definitely wanted an offensive guy, and my first instinct was a bit of disappointment. But I like Odom. Seems like the closest we could reasonably expect to get as a “can’t miss” competent hire, given our current circumstances.

When a guy is not in the offensive game plan (at this point he's not) then he's only going to get opportunity points. Offensive rebound put backs, run the floor dunks. When you are over 7' tall you should make most of those. But I do think you are right, he should play more until that drops. I suspect his lack of pt is much more on the other end and again, matchups have not been favorable for a slower big guy. Zach as a frosh would not have played much against Marquette or Bama or PSU or Maryland or Creighton or Miss St. (JMO)
That's more than 1/2 the games.
Dont get down, it's still early and Big 10 play will prove out a lot of guys. or not.
He's not anchored to the bench.

Of course it should have been brought to trial. He killed a man with his bare hands who had no weapon. Just because the jury came up with the correct verdict doesn't mean it it wasn't a valid charge.

His UNLV OC is a top innovator. If we can get him I think we probably win 6 year one.

His OC hires have generally been impressive. He revitalized Tennessee’s HCs career and has made some good hires.

There’s a lot to like about it…he’s the type of guy who can win here at a level that meets our expectations and sustain it for 6-8 years. Isn’t that what we want?

I'm liking what I've heard from him in the introductory press conference and q&a session on BTN right now. He sounds like he will be flexible in building the offense and defense around the skillsets of our players. "Not asking players to do something they physically can't." This is what I think ultimately led to Walters' failure. Too many players were being asked to do things they weren't capable of doing.

Credit? Biden doesn’t know what day it is. Our planned regime changes haven't exactly worked out well in the area. Assad was better than ISIS. Believe HTS is a designated terrorist organization. We'll see.

This is about the Spring of 2023. I posted that I thought we needed to go into the portal and get a player or else in my words "our ceiling would be lowered". I have no idea why you're asking about the Spring of 2024? I never said we needed to go into the portal this spring. We are talking about 2023.

My first reaction was that even though he missed it, that's a positive development for Caleb. In high school and earlier in his Purdue career, we saw that he could be a more explosive finisher than he's been showing. I'd rather see him try to dunk everything and miss a few than regularly get his shot blocked.

Agree on the explosiveness and also the willingness to shoot an open 3. Not sure what's happened but he doesn't get off the floor as quickly as he used to.

I was really hoping that Myles and or Cam would have developed a better handle and be able to attack when Smith is doubled. To this point they haven't shown that ability. I agree, it's most likely the freshmen that will need to do that. Texas A&M and more so Auburn will be great tests to see if we've made some progress. Both are quick, physical teams that don't stop coming at you on defense.
