We need.......................

I think people are really underestimating how much development we are likely to see from Harris, Cox and Burgess. All three are trending favorably and another season working with Braden will really help them.

Do we need another player or two? Perhaps. But it's far from a given. Personally, I'd like to see a wing who can break people down as that's the most pressing need. I think we can cover the 4/5 with TKR/Berg/Jacobsen/Heide/Burgess. If someone in that group leaves, obviously you need to add a body.

Still waiting for that offensive development in Heide, Colvin & Berg not to mention Waddell and Mr. BB Furst. All have had 2 years or more. Can happen.....sure. And it's gravy when it occurs. But in each case fairly inconsistent or little development, other than Colvin's D.

I do like Harris, Cox, Burgess and DJs potential for what you are saying about developing. I like it alot. Not sure I am ready to bet next year on it though?

I agree on Wing.
I also see a need for a 5.
Or a 4 that can score, leaving TKR at tre 5.

In fairness to him, he's been pretty clear in saying that he doesn't really buy into metrics or strength of schedule.
It isn't that I don't buy into them, they just aren't the end all, be all for me. I don't really care to use efficiency numbers in my rankings. I'll reference NET a tiny bit. But even then, I'll use what I feel I need to. I'm not really sure what has been difficult to grasp here. I have my opinion on teams and how good they are but I also move teams up and down according to everyone else. I do the same thing every other AP voter does. Place teams according to where I feel they should be. Where I took out UConn and Houston for losing, the AP kept in. I also give more leeway to smaller conference teams like a Drake(who is now out) or a UC San Diego. Indiana State got in last year. James Madison last year as well. I have zero biases against any team while ranking. And sometimes I miss a team🤷

We need.......................

This is the same thing we heard about Heide and Colvin coming into this year. Unfortunately, they're incredibly inconsistent and sometimes disappear completely.
The hope is that guys develop and improve on their weaknesses, but it's definitely not a guarantee.
2, potentially 3 players (not necessarily all starters) from the portal and Painter can build a FF team.
I know I'm a broken record on the portal view, but any projection as to what any of the freshmen or sophomores will look like by the end of the year is an educated guess at best. I'm coming around to the view that MP will need to hit the portal in some way in the offseason but I don't think we have a clue as to how each of these young guys will develop over the next three months.

It is true that not all develop at the same rate or magnitude. Part of Myles slower development was just due to a really poor high school background and another part for him and Cam was that having Zach hindered the need for them to develop indirectly as a result of Zach. Bottom line Purdue has at least 8 weeks or half a season to witness any growth and by March it may not only reveal a bit about Cam or Myles, buy also any particular deficiencies that need addressed. I do like this freshman class a lot, but we will know more in a few weeks even if what we know carries no weight. ;)

"Objectively." Gonzaga just hasn't been very impressive to me. Not that SDSU has been super impressive. Gonzaga has wins over SDSU, Baylor(who I don't care for this year), Arizona State and Indiana. Then have 8 wins over bad teams who are Q3 and worse. SDSU has wins over Houston, Boise State on the road, UC San Diego and Creighton(who I don't really like this year. So yea, Gonzaga has the head to head but I don't consider that the end all be all when I feel I'm splitting hairs. Gonzaga continues to beat the crap out of that poop conference and they'll find their way back.
Yeah, that's definitely not objective, which is my point.

My bad, Mr. Gillis…

But do you twitch when they say X player would do well here because they are having a great season at Y team?!
Are they a good player? Then no. I will assume if they are here, Painter has a role for them that fits.

Good players thrive in good systems. The issue Gillis has is slightly different in that he's playing on a team filled with high level talent so he's lower on the priority scale for gaining stats than he was here.

If someone spends literally years proving their talent and then transfers to another school where their stats go down, I'm going to assume of the two options: he's not very good, those year's were all a fluke; or, he's a good player he's just not asked to do as much or as good of a fit with this new system...

That B is much more likely than A.

He is back before it is official!

Hey Bob, I didn't want you to miss this:

"Calls for Trudeau's resignation gained momentum after U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's announcement of a potential blanket 25% tariff on Canada and Mexico if they don't take stronger action against illegal immigration and drug trafficking concerns. Trump has targeted Trudeau and Canada in recent days, with the president-elect appearing to joke about Canada becoming the 51st state with Trudeau as governor. Some of Trudeau's critics have suggested he is unable to stand against Trump's economic pressure and bullying."

Well he is French Canadian so surrender is in his DNA.

I come to bury the playoffs, not to praise them

So, you are saying if Purdue would have beaten OSU. We would have deserved to be in the CFP? WHAT!!???

Totally, disagree. Take the top 8 teams regardless or you'll end up with teams like IU and get destroyed.
It was Michigan that year and if they beat them then yes, let them in.

In an 8,12,16 team format you e gotta prove yourself. I think it should be 8 and you could even make a conference semifinal that could be a playoff eliminator.

At the end of the day this format is better than the 4. More games, more product and a seasoned champion. My team lost and I’m not complaining. Gotta go earn it.
