The art of the deal

The trump admin says Russia doesn't have to give back territory gained in the illegal invasion and NATO membership for Ukraine won't happen. Good job lol.
The reason that Russia invaded Ukraine was that Biden foolishly signed an agreement that would allow Ukraine to join NATO (link). The far-left news media won't report this but the WSJ did. For years Putin had warned that any former Warsaw Pact nation joining NATO would be an act of war. That's exactly what happened.

To end the war in Ukraine, we need to reverse the stupidity of Biden and refuse to allow Ukraine admission to NATO.

IU's Next BB Coach is

No, Tom Izzo currently holds the record at 26.

Krzyzewski had 24 and Smith had 23. Think Knight's longest streak was the last part of his tenure - '86 - '00 (15 years).

You have Self and Few I think as the next longest who are active coaches.

Impressive for all of them. I think the only realistic knock on Izzo's tournament record is his Final Four record of 3-7, lost six times in the semi-finals.....but hey, you get there eight times and at least win one - that's a helluva job in most people's view....
I know this is a lazy reply, but do we know when Izzo had his best run? I feel like CMP is right on the cusp of doing the same. Yes, we didn't win it all but we got there. We are expected to be there every year it seems. He has us an a special place and that's comforting.

QB battle only beginning for Boilers

A perhaps lengthy quarterback competition could be in store for Purdue football, and has already started prior to spring practice.

The art of the deal

Good, you’re supposed to lose the land if you lose the war.
And we might be very close to pulling out of NATO anyway, so it won’t matter.
That will all save the American taxpayer billions. $$
You have to lie and speculate to cover trump on this one?

They aren't losing the war.

If we're still in NATO while negotiating and end to the war, why does that matter?

Where's all the swinging d/ck bravado as trump COMPLETELY contradicts what he has said over and over about negotiating and not showing your hand? Why would he give away the store if he was serious about negotiations? Let's hear it. You can't get to your keyboard quick enough to tout his ability to strike a deal and outmaneuver the opposition when you think he has. Now you're deflecting as he screwed the pooch. Or is that the plan anyway? Who really believes he's not simply caving to his buddy yet again?

We're paying 2 billion A DAY in interest on the debt. Congrats. You just payed it for a week.

Purdue set for home-and-home series against Iowa State, starting next season in Mackey Arena, followed by a trip to Ames in 2026-27.

Keep that non-con schedule tough... I love it

YOUTUBE TV Losing CBS

Just to be clear, Paramount plus will not get you CBS live TV. You have to have Paramount plus with the Showtime package to get it live. An extra $5.00/mo. Just for anyone thinking of going that route. YTTV doesn't tell you that in the email you get from them.
Are you sure? I have basic paramount + (and yttv) which by the way I get for free because I have a Walmart + account, which I also get free through Amex. Just checked paramount for live tv and I was able to watch….regardless this isn’t going for more than a few days if at all. The last long conflict was Disney and DirectTv and that didn’t last more than a week if I recall correctly.

Braden’s NBA aspirations

1.157Mil. Is the minimum salary in the NBA which is close to the top pay overseas excluding China. I don't recall how much he is said to be making but he is the top selling NIL player in D1. Carsen a guard deemed too small for the NBA is making over the NBA minimum while playing less than 1/2 the games. With much less stress and fatigue to his body. And no taxes to be paid. So, the gamble to go early isn't as much a gamble as it once was. I read on another board how much Braden could expect if he enters the portal which could exceed 5mil. that is more likely than a non-guaranteed NBA contract. If you're a coach hired to turn around a program Smith would guarantee success and 5Mil. of someone else's money would be well spent IMO. As a lifelong Purdue fan, it's in our DNA to expect something bad and only one thing could be worse than losing Braden which would be losing Paint. It's always something.
Still has to pay taxes as a US Citizen.

Braden’s NBA aspirations

If Braden leaves prior to a national championship run I will have much ill will. And as much to Purdue for letting him (and a possible NC) melt away. No, Braden is a Boiler by the grace of God. And a Boiler he shall remain. At all costs IMO.
I would pay to see him stay. Anyone else?
Yeah he is worth 5-6M, if that’s what he wants. And ya pay TKR and Loyer

Pressing questions for the home stretch

I worked for George. Good guy. Once let me have his seats for one of the BB games. I was sitting so close I could see the sweat running down Gene's face.

Good guy, for sure. While he was a Purdue assistant and the recruiting coordinator, he was our instructor for “Coaching of Basketball,” lecturing in Lambert and Mackey. The class valedictorian had to be Drake Morris. George still holds Purdue’s record for the most field goals in a game without a miss – 12 for 12 against Iowa in 1971. No fluke -- he went 7 for 7 against North Dakota and 6 for 6 against Michigan State as a rookie sophomore on the eventual 1969 NCAA runner-up -- but Faerber’s specialty really was cleaning the glass. He had 21 rebounds against Tulsa and averaged 10.0 per game as a junior and wound up averaging 8.4 for his three-year career. Then he helped coach the Boilermakers from 1972 through 1979.

Braden’s NBA aspirations

Excellent post showing the issue NIL can pose. I think Braden would definitly give a home town discount to Purdue but how much I have no idea. If he leaves for another school because they offered him 3 to 4 mil more than Purdue, I will have no ill will toward him at all to get his money.
But my fandom for any major college sports will be shot and I will not support or waste time on games that Purdue cannot financially compete in. And I am not sure how you even stop NIL. Its truly open market. If some crazy booster wants to overpay by 4 to 5 mil for market value, nothing can be done other than provide more incentives.

If you are a jr and going to be a 2nd round pick (low $$) we wouldn't you stay and try to secure a place in the 1st round?
We have NO idea what he thinks about leaving. And if he can be a 1st rounder, you gotta go I think.
Bur if a super senior year puts you in the 1st round, well not much of a decision.
And zero doubt in my mind that he's a 1st NEXT year.
My concern is a team desperate for a distributor takes him this year. (1st}
Zach set the standard for staying a late round pick to the lottery they have the same agent. Smith isn't listed in mock drafts much like IU's Balo last year it doesn't make financial sense for him to leave early. Balo's contract was 2X league minimum. TKR is basically the same story and will command huge NIL money the market loves 5th year guys of which he will be at or near the top available. The game has changed off the court. A real possibility we could lose both not only to the NBA but the portal. I wish them both all the best. And I personally wouldn't ask either to stay without maximizing their earnings. Purdue will keep both IMO but, it won't come cheap.

IU's Next BB Coach is

I love your enthusiasm, but don't be homer. I love CMP, but until Izzo is gone. He's the pinnacle of coaching in the B1G.

Izzo:
726-299 overall record
8 FF's
10 B1G Champs
1 NC
26 consecutive tournaments
CMP:
466-209 overall record
1 FF
5 B1G Champs
0 NC
26 consecutive tournaments might be the most impressive thing, to me. Did Coach K , Dean Smith, or Knight even do that ?

Hear Me Out: IU should offer to double Painter's salary (or drastically increase it)

As an IU fan growing up when Knight was winning, Purdue is so much fun to watch play. They have a style, they have roles, they compete, they're mentally tough and it all comes from Painter's leadership.
If IU wants the best guy for the job it's Matt Painter...now I KNOW THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN!!!!
But...if it did, it's the absolute best hire.
BUT IT WON'T so Painter can point to the hated rival IU is willing to pay that much more for his services, it would have to help him with his contract.
Plus, it would be fun to watch play out because there is no way Painter leaving for IU, heck, I don't think he's ever leaving for anywhere.
And there is something right with the world with Painter at Purdue and how they play and how they win.
Sad to say it, but these days, I'd fear for his safety potentially. Lots of rabid nutcase fans out there. And that would be akin to divorcing your wife to marry her sister.
