All Five Conference Champs Lost Their First Game In The Playoff

They are conference champions and certainly deserve to be in the playoffs. I'm waiting for the day in the basketball tournament when a team wth a losing record wins it all. Suppose a team never wins a game or just enough to qualify for their conference tournament. Then wins 4 or so games and is then the conference champion. They are then automatically in the tournament and if they win all of the rest of their games and are declared champions they may have only won about 10 games and lost 20. These championship games only award late season play and not losing any games then, not the entire season record. Are they really the best team? There can be any number of schemes to determine a national champion, the winner of that scheme is then national champion, they are that scheme's national champion, but are they the season's best team?

The warthogs get a partial dose of reality that is small enough to be absorbed

Are you suicidal in any way Bob? Do you have dreams of Black Choppers over your house at night? Can I help you with getting counseling? How about you quit watching TV other than sports? And stay away from any left-leaning radio news programs...please.

Brother, I'm here to help if you are willing to accept it.
Piss off. You MAGA rubes constantly complain about how everybody else believes what they are told by the media. And yet here's a perfect example of how you guys do that very thing. An obviously fake video that Tj sees and believes and then races to start a thread about it.

Similar thing happened with the New Orleans attack. Fox News, the MAGA equivalent of the liberal media, said like 20 times the truck driven by the killer crossed over from Mexico. It didn't. Trump making posts trying to infer the killer was illegal. He wasn't. Mike Johnson and other Republican leaders doing the same thing. Kennedy trying to turn a press conference about a horrific murder into some kind of political event.

Trying to paint me in a negative way is how you avoid the truth and deflect from the facts. You're an old man that's reverting back to childlike behavior.

Gene Keady was underpaid

Purdue Salaries (1987) - found this from the Exponent in 1987 while I was looking for something else. A decent salary back then, but basketball coaches have come a long way since. To think that Gene made less than Fred Akers and significantly less than Steven Beering! I imagine that ratio for basketball coaches:college presidents has now flipped (and then some) for major conference schools. Also, love the ad to watch the Purdue-Louisville football game at Quincey's. That was my first football game as a student. We ended up tying the Howard Schnellenberger coached team.
My guess is that $99K didn’t include all his income… camps, shoes, radio/TV shows, etc.

Drone warfare in Ukraine. Ukraine can now produce 4 million drones annually using 3-D printers.

This is a well-written article from the NY Times about drone warfare in Ukraine. This is the battlefield of the future. Tanks are obsolete. Field artillary is obsolete. And how long will it be before we have "drone infantry", drones capable of carrying a semi-automatic rifle that finds, targets and shoots individual enemy soldiers with AI accuracy?

Big Ten

And how many of those wins came during the historically bad Groce years and the two seasons it took Underwood to dig out of that? Shit’s ancient history and irrelevant, pal. Illinois and Purdue are much healthier programs than Indiana and have been for 5+ years now. Your “brand” died a long time ago.
Weber was 1-2
Groce was 3-6
Underwood is 6-6(4-3 vs Archie. 2-3 vs Woodson)

6. Wanna know how many during Underwood so far? 6.

We need.......................

Not to mention that schools can start directly paying players next year.. so Purdue can allocate a good amount to smith depending on the appetite. Granted that won’t mean anything if it means the rest of the team leaves and football sucks.
I think the team will remain together minus Waddell and Berg. Hope Paint gets some pieces in the portal.

We need.......................

Our problem is when it's Smith, Loyer, Heide and Colvin on the floor, you have 4 jump shooters. Only Smith has proven his ability to either create or get his own shot (with some limited success but struggles against bigger defenders), which means you have 3 other guys hoping to get an open look. When the shots aren't falling, you need to find other ways to get buckets and we don't have that.
One would think that NIL next season could solve the "create or get his own shot" problem..........

Personnel

Obviously Heide and Colvin are struggling right now, but my question is, for the rest of the Season, should we ever see them both on the court at the same time? They are very similar players that can contribute by defending, hitting open 3's, and rebounding. Neither is capable of ball penetration or hitting 3's consistently right now, so it hurts the offense when they are both on the court together. I think having only one of these 2 on the court at the same time will allow them to get out of their slump a lot faster and improve our offensive efficiency.

My opinion of this team is unchanged in that it is good team that is enjoyable to watch and support, but they are too flawed to be a top 15 team. If we lower our expectations a bit in this Post Edey transition year to what many programs would be thrilled with, I think everyone will consider a 20+ win Season a significant accomplishment for this program.

Not writing off this Season as we could certainly pull off a run this year if everyone gets hot, but for next year, I hope we will be looking to bring in a stud 5 and 3/4 hybrid wing in the transfer portal. I am sure that Jacobson can contribute, but counting on him to solidify our starting 5 next year coming off injury is too much of a gamble to take in what needs to be a big turnaround year. From the little I saw of him, he no doubt would have helped, but I don't think he would have been the savior. As much as Painter likes to develop talent, I think he owes it to Braden Smith to at least go after some big names that would have to be salivating over the chance to come in and play with him for a year.

IU did not deserve to be in CFP. Great article by USA Today

IU bought out UL and had the weakest schedule in the Big Ten and brought in a whole new team and coach. It worked. Won't work again. You caught your lightning in a bottle and used it up.

You'll have a decent record again next year against another weak ass schedule.
Solid job of stating that:
  1. IU Football is already toast going forward, and then
  2. Contradicting yourself to explain away IU Football doing well next year.
All in one post! Finishing by loading up on the future excuses for IU Football winning 7-10 games next season? Nothing like planning ahead.

Purdue at Minnesota: MASTER DISCUSSION THREAD

Gotta hand it to the Illinois coach. He seems to be a master at bringing in the right players.....portal or recruiting. Then after getting them to IL, putting the pieces together and making very good teams out of his pieces. Yet to see a great team, maybe this one is it??

They were pretty darn good last year, just no chance being in Connecticut's region, although they gave them a really good battle for the first 19 minutes, then the wheels fell off. Really good team in '22 as well, but I thought the best chances were with the Dosunmu team right before that in '21......until I picked them. :)

Underwood is maybe a little polarizing and might rub some the wrong way, but he is a really good coach, IMO. Think he has double-digit conference wins the last five years.....something like that.
