IU Good for Them

In all seriousness, I know exactly one person who I would classify as an IU football fan (not one that cheers for ND football every season and pretends to be an IU fan when they happen to have a decent year) and I am very happy for that person to experience this season.

Also, thus far I have no real reason to dislike Cignetti. Seems like the kind of coach I wish we had hired or will hire next.

Having said all that, I think they need to beat Ohio State to deserve a playoff bid. Their non-conference schedule has been brutal and their conference schedule, which is admittedly is beyond their control, has been about as bad as it can be also. You can't tell me that if they finish with one loss and no BTCG, that they deserve to be in over some of those 2-loss SEC teams. I don't think they'd beat any top-half SEC team. And let's not forget they had Louisville on the schedule and bought that game out. I don't think that's what we want to reward with the benefit of the doubt.
Agree on beating OSU.

Don’t think 11-1 and losing to the only ranked team in your schedule will be or should be good enough. And if they lose to OSU they’ll be out of the championship game.

If they indeed make it to Indy it will be interesting to see if they show out and support their team. Sadly when we went, the CG was NOT well attended by Purdue fans even though we were an hour from campus and we mostly knew it would be our last time in a long time we’d go.

Bobinski needs to go before Walters

If the AD is bold enough to delegate the responsibility of hiring the next football coach to someone else and it goes bad, he deserves to go in addition to her.

And I don't think the decision to hire Grimes had much to do with NIL experience as other factors. None of which have seemed to play out very well.
I’ve heard she’s the NIL spearhead in the AD but could be wrong. I’m not connected to the bureaucracy

I'm talking about if they want to go to a college or community college to learn a trade like pipefitting, electrician, plumbing, machinists, etc.
if they were smart enough to go to a community college to learn a trade, they did not run up absurd debts like at private schools - and were able to get good jobs and pay off whatever they owed.

I heard story after story of art history grads and others with astronomical school debts whining that other taxpayers should pay for their foolishness. I didn't hear any stories of plumbers, electricians and others with valuable trade skills whining for the same.

Daniel Jacobsen likely to miss rest of season

Hope he heals quickly. Perhaps we see the small ball lineup now?
Possible, but I don't think so. I have to think the recent comments by Painter are directed at Heide. To play small-ball would necessitate Heide playing the 4 and playing 25+ mpg. I think we now see 4 guys for 2 spots, like we saw mostly last year, although Furst didn't play much behind Edey. Now we have TKR, Berg, Furst, and Burgess. I like Berg to start right away, but maybe not long-term.

I'm not a fan of DeSantis outside of being a governor. I think Vance and Vivek are in a different universe when it comes to intelligence mixed with swagger, ability to debate and ability to understand America.
Outside of being a governor? I am talking about his great record as the chief executive of one of our largest states, now called the free state of Florida. That is his proven and primary appeal.

The other two do not have that strong record of direct government executive leadership. As far as swagger, he has more than plenty - smacking down Disney, the feds by flying a plane load of illegals to Martha's Vineyard to expose liberal hypocrisy, and going against all the misguidance of Fauci and the others to open schools and business well ahead of virtually all other states.

Sebastian Williams Adams recruiting update

agree on Auburn, it's the first one listed, don't let the "culture" comment sway you, Khamenia mentioned that too and didn't work out for Purdue
But also these kids usually want to play right away and while he’d be a great get, we don’t technically need him. Again, would be awesome if he chose Purdue…just he’d have to (more than likely) take a back seat his first year.

Bobinski needs to go before Walters

I might also add that those NIL disciples on this board might want to consider that this is a new world that all of Bobinski's experience as an AD did not contain. It might be best to bring in someone younger who is less conditioned to consider everything from an old-school perspective that may not serve us well in this new landscape.
They did. Grimes the deputy diversity AD who basically made this hire is straight out of Alabama. If we keep Walters…which it’s looking like we will, it all falls on her.

Daniel Jacobsen likely to miss rest of season

Hopefully Furst steps up and gets more pt… I feel like he is the best option to start. I also could see us playing smaller more often now with TKR at the 5. DJ really needs to bulk up this year, hopefully he uses this time to do so. He’s going to have a great career, so a redshirt year will hopefully benefit us down the road.

Bobinski needs to go before Walters

Other than getting the no-brainer Brohm hire right, which he ruined by following up with Walters, what has he done besides riding some legacy coaches like Painter and Shondell to some success?

And this new thing about him threatening students for chanting about Walters is really bad. In the same ballpark as the Nancy Cross email about donors. My suggestion to the students would be to chant "Fire Bobinski" instead as I don't believe the AD was included on the list of people the students can't express their disappointment in.

And even if he does fire Walters eventually, is he the guy we really want hiring the new coach? The same guy who oversaw......or should have.....the Walters hire?

Fire Bobinski first.
I agree that Walters was a galactically stupid hire in hindsight, but what made Brohm a no- brainer?

Bobo certainly deserves derision for hiring CRW, but he also deserves praise for hiring Brohm ( even if he was clueless about Brohm ultimately playing Purdue like a Stradivarius 🤢😳) …
