Gowdy would have been a 1000 times better pick than the statutory rapist. The Flavor Aiders get all bent out of shape of folks comparing Chump's style to fascism. However, the pattern of these cabinet picks clearly is an indication of Chump trying to subvert the cabinet departments operating on its own. With these cabinet "yes" men and women, Chump can run an authoritarian type government the best he can. For example, folks in this board have said that Gaetz pick as AG was a good pick to shake up the DOJ. Folks in this board have said the the Dept of Education pick's purpose was to shut down the department.
I hope the federal department of education gets shut down. Anyone have any idea what they do?

Great loss

In any case, Purdue will get a heavy dose this whole year.

agree, BB.....Penn State, Rutgers, Maryland, UCLA, Northwestern, Wisconsin and Indiana among many (might as well just list everybody.....haha). Painter can't say it enough times - embrace it and be ready to deal with it and counter.....and don't lose your poise. It's a mindset that can't waiver if you want to be successful. It will take a little time for the freshman, but that's where the leaders need to help them understand quickly.

Expect conference season to be it's usual war.....

We shall see.

Why Trump Needs to Drain the Swamp

Even if Gaetz's qualifications were the best in history for AG, The mere fact that he is being investigated for the serious crime he should not have been selected.

Quite an allegation.......
Please document the police or FBI who are investigating Gaetz of this moment?

Also still waiting for you to document where you objected to 1 DEM cabinet appointment....the way you have these Rs.

Gowdy has never lost a case as a prosecutor. He would be my favorite pick

Physical, athletic opponent that pressures the ball and takes away post ups. Exactly the type of opponent that has given Purdue trouble.

Braden was out of his mind the first half (in the worst way), too many turnovers across the board, couldn’t keep them out of the paint, living in help on defense. This Purdue team needs to get much better and they will. Good for them to lose this game.
We are a long way from competing with these guards , UCon showed us this last year.

If Indiana gets in while losing to Ohio State, I think the blueprint is there.

1. Have a decent team.
2. Schedule nobody in the non-conference. Remember they bought out the Louisville game they had scheduled.
3. Have a conference schedule in one of these new mega conferences where you miss most or all of the best teams and beat the lower level teams.

Personally, I would not reward a team sitting on the fence that schedules so poorly out of conference. You can't control the conference schedule but if you happen to have a really bad one and don't beat any quality teams, and didn't play any out of conference, I don't think that should be rewarded. If it is, we're going to see some really boring Septembers in college football in the near future because if all that matters is wins then there is no incentive to play decent competition.

Reminds me of qualifying for the NCAA tournament and the Quad wins. The value of your opponents and wins matter. They should in football as well. When a team is on the bubble in February and March, beating the last place team on your homecourt doesn't move you. It shouldn't in football either.

That said, I think it's absurd that any conference should get more than 2 teams in the playoffs. Certainly not 4. The conference season should determine who the best teams are in each conference. If that's impossible because we now barely play half the other teams in the Big Ten and SEC each year, that's too bad for those conferences. Find a better format or way to determine your champion.

Of course that's exactly why the new playoff format skipped right from 4 teams, over the logical number of 8, and directly to 12. The Big Ten and SEC run the show now and want to flood the field with 3/4 teams each for money. Just a terrible setup from the start. I don't care to watch SEC football in the regular season and I certainly don't care to watch them rematch in the playoffs. And you know when Indiana and Penn State should play? During the conference season. Then one of them would have a quality win and we would know who belongs in the playoffs.
Saban and (I think) Rece Davis said on Game Day Nov 16th that with IU's 100th -rated schedule strength, if they get their clocks cleaned by OSU then they would not be worthy of an at-large 12 berth. No argument here!

Why Trump Needs to Drain the Swamp

Gaetz isn't qualified for the job of AG. As I stated he's never prosecuted anyone. My belief and hope are that he is rejected largely by members of his own party and Trump has to pick someone else. And even if she were only 17, that's still jailbait and if he did have sex with her, he's as guilty as if she were 12.
Even if Gaetz's qualifications were the best in history for AG, The mere fact that he is being investigated for the serious crime he should not have been selected. Unlike Hegseth, the Gaetz allegations were known for a long time. Chump most likely is going to bully and shame the republicans on the Judiciary committee to pass through these jacked up appointments.

"I've had enough of this so-called "House ethics report" on Matt Gaetz. The underlying allegations are so laughable and flimsy that the only purpose of it is to smear Gaetz.
Here are the facts:
The "report" comes YEARS after the DOJ dropped its investigation into the same claims. Why did the DOJ drop the investigation? The claims hinge on the testimony of two witnesses who have such gaping credibility issues that even the DOJ, which hates Gaetz, knew no jury would ever convict him.
Who are these witnesses?
1) Joel Greenberg, who has been described as "one of the most corrupt Florida politicians of all time" and has literally made false underage sex allegations against another politician before! He accused an innocent school teacher who was running against him for tax-collector of having sex with an underage student. Sound familiar? A judge called the lies "downright evil."
2) Greenberg became embroiled in a series of crimes and faced a possible 27 years in federal prison. One of these crimes was having sex with an underage minor, the same 17-year-old who is the central character in the claims against Gaetz. BUT, even Greenberg claims he didn't know she was underage because she LIED about her age! She is now active on OnlyFans, selling sexual access for money, and has appeared in porn videos. Go figure.
According to a 2023 lawsuit, Greenberg repeatedly begged Gaetz to secure a pardon for him, and when Gaetz refused, Greenberg vowed vengeance.
An inmate who shared a cell with Greenberg told two federal agents that Greenberg told him that the woman “would be willing to adopt Greenberg’s lie in hopes of a future financial benefit." Greenberg admitted to paying the woman's legal bills in a text to a friend!
Yes, this is all ridiculous. Yes, it is all clearly contrived lies. Will the media still use it to tar and feather Gaetz? Absolutely. Gaetz has made a career of picking fights no one else in Washington had the stomach to pick. They fear him at the DOJ more than anyone.
And that's exactly why we need him running the Department of Justice—he's the only one with the guts to fight the most important fights at the DOJ and root out the corruption we've seen on full display these last 8 years.
CONFIRM MATT GAETZ.

The ONLY concern these R Senators have about ANY of these picks is the $ they would have to turn down from lobbyist.

That's how the Senate works. The more lobbyist $ out there.....the more these Corrupt Senators will have concerns.

Both your concerns OR support doesn't matter, the challenge for the Trump team is overcoming the lobbyist cash.

The change in the non conference schedule was made by Tom Allen trying to save his job. Unless things change for 2025 their non conference schedule next year is just as sad. I do know they have tried to schedule other P4 mid level teams and have been turned down because those P4 teams "we have too tough of a conference schedule to play another (now P4 this year) team. That is also the reason UK dropped the IU football game years ago after the SEC went to an 8 game schedule.

Shaka

He is from Wisconsin and may have been one reason he left Texas to Marquette, or was Texas about to run him out of town? I can't remember. He is building a good program there, NCAAs every year .. but ... he might get tired eventually fighting UCONN every year in the Big East. You never know in college coaching or coaching in general. Some like moving around.
They were getting ready to run him out. At Texas, the number of stars associated with a recruit's name matter and many of those wouldn't buy into Shaka's system. So going to Marquette was a smart move for Shaka as it made it easier for him to recruit his players for his system.

No team is in a place, even UConn, Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, to go "man that 20 point loss was a great loss." Numbers matter, especially in the world of the NET.

Big wins over bad/good teams= good
Any win over a good team= good
Close wins over bad teams= bad
Big losses to any team= bad
Not all 20 point losses are the same (it was 18 btw). The Marquette game was a 6 point game at the under 8 timeout. They kept us at arms length throughout but the final score was window dressing.

Worst Purdue Football Coach in your lifetime

At this point, I'll say Haze.

Statistically, the worst coaches of my time are Jim Colletto, Fred Akers, Ryan Walters, and Haze---probably in that order with Colletto being the best of that bunch and Haze being the worst.

I don't think Bob DeMoss belongs on that list at all. Yeah, he followed Mollenkopf and couldn't keep pace. But, he did go 6-2 in the B1G his las year as Purdue's head coach. None of the other bottom tier of Purdue coaches have come anywhere close to that. I would put DeMoss in the same category as Alex Agase, Leon Burtnett, and Danny Hope as below average but not the bottom.

My take on Purdue coaches since Mollenkopf:

Top tier:
1. Jim Young -- Purdue's best teams since Fat Jack.
2. Joe Tiller -- Consistent success if not great.
3. Jeff Brohm -- Exciting while it lasted.

Average by Purdue standards:
4. Bob DeMoss -- Tough gig to follow Mollenkopf, but a true Purdue man.
5. Danny Hope -- Not a lot of institutional support.
6. Leon Burtnett -- Take out the '84 team, and this looks MUCH worse.
7. Alex Agase -- Competitive but couldn't get Purdue back over the hump.bs

Bottom Tier:
8. Jim Colletto -- Great running game but no defense and questionable game day decisions.
9. Fred Akers -- No defense, no running game, no real plan
10. Ryan Walters -- It's not looking good.
11. Darrell Hazell -- Three+ years spent in the Haze.
DeMoss WASTED numerous NFL talent that had long and noteworthy careers in the NFL by switching to the Wishbone!

Great loss

If your team lost by 20, alarm bells would be going off because IU made sure to not schedule a team that’s worth a damn. So if one of those teams did beat IU, it’d make sense for you to be “shredding your team”instead, IU would rather puff their chests out and try to talk about Purdue and how they’re not very good because “we lost by close to 20 for the first time in 3 years to a non conf opponent”.

In the last two years, IU lost by 20+ at KU, lost to UConn by 20 (without Castle). So MAYBE if you guys beat Louisville, you’ll have an opportunity to play Gonzaga or Arizona (who doesn’t look very good this year). But I’d have to imagine Gonzaga will wipe the floor with this IU team.

I know you’ll point to KU at IU last year and losing barely there, but that’s because that KU team hadn’t played together much and wasn’t very good/overrated all year.
Yup. Indiana got whooped in some games. Indiana got whooped by Kansas and there were clearly problem afterwards and they finally found some footing after figuring out their problems from getting blasted(that team ended up whooping up on Purdue twice remember). Last year got whooped by UConn and they never figured it out. But last year's team didn't have it figured out from the very beginning anyways because they were good. Kel'el Ware was good, but it takes more than one.

Great loss

I completely agree that that’s the response if you’re IU. Thank God that Purdue’s program is in an exponentially better place.

Liberals now telling truth about inflation

Dem lie #2 -- The Economy is good.

This was told by lib media focusing on all the minor points of the economy that were ok,......all but #1 thing to the people....... PRICES. And Clinton NOW tells the truth.

That's why I kept posting on the cost of Biden. $49,484 for 4 years. And the alternative media left here kept "attempting" to argue with me due to the media they consume.

With Trump sweep.....the argument is over.
Lie #2 bites the dust.

Great loss

If IU loses by 20 I'm shredding my team because that's bad and I see no positive light to be found.

I'm very nervous this loss is more representative of who purdue is than the alabama win. We will see. It really highlighted that we will get crushed versus hard hedges and have zero interior defense until proven otherwise.
Would you rather them play cupcakes/bad teams and be undefeated prior to playing a real team in December and then see how bad they are? This is a great way to learn and improve. This team is second youngest in the B1G, they’re still learning. We, as fans, have been soiled for 3 years with a Well established/veteran team that already knew the system. Typically, teams learn in November and December and start to ascend in mid January into February and carry to March. THATS what I want to see. If we are still like this consistently at that point in the season, then I’ll be disappointed.

But you learn nothing about your team if you’re scared and having them play vs teams that aren’t near your talent/skill level.
