But when CKG first took the job, before SV was fired Katie said most of what she knew of coaching was from Versyp and she been calling her about once a week for advice. She runs all the same schemes as SV did, and they were played out 20 years ago. KG is just a mini Versyp with better people skills and worse ability to adjust in games.

I'd say you have to get creative in the portal and go find guys from P5 programs are are talented, just not talented enough to start on their current team for whatever reason. Mold that puzzle into a strong team. We already see that high school players don't believe in Walters so you can't go that route.

that was an unfortunate bump in the road for their fans and their "I'll never attend one of their games again" motto. Like I said after all that, a couple of 10 win seasons will make everyone forget about that fiasco because winning is what matters.

That's the contract extension for Cig. But I disagree, it is worth it to have a strong football team. Studies have shown it increases application, enrollment, donors, etc. There's literally no reason not to invest in having a strong football program. However, we also know the opposite is true.

agreed. My issue is more that our players and coaches didn’t seem to have a problem with it. Game was over at 38 nothing. If they are still passing, start laying people out. Penalties don’t matter at that point the game was over. Show some pride, anger, offense… something, anything. But no, they just let it happen and then happily shook hands after getting 4 unnecessary tds scored on them.

As a football fan I get it, but as a player or coach I expect some fight.

I think that is going to be the model of the future thanks to the NIL. At some point there will be NIL caps established and the NFL structure will start to get adopted into college football. I don’t like it but I think it’s clear that is where we are headed.

If iu, one of the worst football programs in NCAA history, can find $72M to commit to their head coach, money is not a problem for Purdue. iu has no, zero, none, football identity.

The right coach and staff can turn this program around fairly quickly... The good players that are invested on the current team will stay if the coach is a proven winner. The new coach will bring some of his own players and recruits with him as well.
Things are so fluid in collage sports today that we can see how fast a program can fall and rise....
