Doing the impossible

How does this team beat Auburn?

1. Turnovers- They have got to cut these down to 10 or less. When the big 3 turn the ball over we lose. It’s that simple. Take care of the ball and play off of two feet.

2. Get to the line- This was the key for Duke in their win over Auburn. To do this we have to be more aggressive and attack the rim.

3. Three pointers- This was a strength of the team early on. They absolutely need to shoot a good percentage and probably take more than 25 attempts.

4. Embrace the physicality- I don’t think this team is soft but they have to handle the physicality of the game better to hang with a physical team like Auburn. This is where the tough games earlier in the season needs to pay off. Do they adjust?

5. Painter- Coach has to bring his A game Saturday. Auburn is the best team in the country and Paint needs to get this team ready to take on this challenge.

Anybody else or are we just accepting the fact that this game is a loss?

Yep that's it.

But don't bet the house on it.

My Cure (such as it is) for the NIL and Rampant Transfers

How would you transfer in the middle of the 2nd semester? Assuming the athletes are still in school.
You wouldn't. Would just wait for the end of the semester, as a typical student. The transfer, or commitment, could be facilitated without having to leave the current school immediately.

As I said, they have $ now, they can separate themselves from the program and still hire the training needed to go into Summer camp. What do NFL draftees do when they want to finish their degrees? They get drafted (transfer) in April, graduate in May, then join the team for their OTAs and Summer mini camps. Should be the same thing here IMHO. Maybe you simply push the transfer date back to April for all, which would make more sense. Once you eliminate Spring practice, there's really no need for a player to be on their new campus until Summer anyway.

How long can Boiler Basketball avoid being portaled?

I think that Painter will use the portal, as he did with Lance Jones, but what I don’t think he will do is overpay relative to the returning players. Doing so sets a bad precedent because the money effectively comes from the returning players. Painter would prefer to reward the guys who have been with the program all along.

All speculation but I do not think a portal guy(s) will be close to Braden Smith $ figure. I can see the RIGHT guy if it's a starting 4/5 approaching what the other top starters get though.

Wow, Stephen Smith borrows a thought from Aaron Neville to tell it like it is

I commend you for thinking of them and wishing them well at this time of holiday spirit and good cheer.

Merry Christmas to you, TJ, and all forum dwellers - even those who wear clown pants.
Merry Christmas to you, the other faithful, and even those that are gullible. Christmas reminds me of Christ and Christ reminds me of Rome and so in this season I find it interesting that when Nero set fire to Rome and blamed the Christians we too have experienced similar projection by the dems in what they actually did (and this goes beyond the summer of love). There is soooooooooo much we would never have learned had it not been for Trump. So in spite of those that voted to destroy the country...AGAIN...during this holy season I'm reminded of the famous words said 2000 years ago to other gullibles at the time which was Father forgive them for they do not know what they do.

I am a bit worried about that 95 guy that got on here and went to the basketball board to publically proclaim his superiority of knowledge in comparison to posters here to only to find out that he was wrong. I hope he is doing okay...

Are Purdue boosters ready to go big time and is Bo willing?

Here's the salaries of the top 8 paid coaches in the college game for 2024. The real question is will the NIL PU boosters anti up to take PU to the top level of programs and get a coach of this caliber?

After the Walters hiring by Bo and ultimate failure with two years of wasted time and money, and hiring Brohm knowing he'd leave for da' Ville, will he be allowed to go big or will he have to go cheap again and stay home?

I've said it for a long time that PU should be at the top of the league and not basement boys because they're too cheap to get a good one.

The highest-paid college football head coaches in 2024 are123:
  1. Kirby Smart (Georgia) - Salary: $13,000,000
  2. Dabo Swinney (Clemson) - Salary: $11,132,775
  3. Steve Sarkisian (Texas) - Salary: $10,600,000
  4. Lincoln Riley (USC) - Salary: $10,043,418
  5. Ryan Day (Ohio State) - Salary: $10,021,250
  6. Mike Norvell (Florida State) - Salary: $10,000,000
  7. Kalen DeBoer (Alabama) - Salary: $10,000,000
  8. Brian Kelly (LSU) - Salary: $9,975,000

It's time for Bo and the NIL money to get off the toilet and get someone woh can change the climate. If they're not willing to do that, maybe it's time to continue settling.

Issues

No. He didn't tell us exactly anything. What you're inferring or interpreting may or may not be the truth. And to say that so n so "Demanded a starting spot and to be the focus of the offense", because that's what you think Painter was implying (but didn't say), is wrong. It's just your opinion.
And I'm not discrediting "real" information, because you don't have real information. You're taking what you heard in a media interview and trying to extrapolate specifics.
The reality is, only the recruit, his family, agent and Painter know what was requested, demanded, promised, etc. We the fans don't.
Except we know that Painter said no and moved on.
So we pretty much DO know that his requests/demands/promises were not agreed to, whatever they were.

What tjreese did was right out of the Faux News playbook. Go and find the first negro that agrees with their stance and display them on the show or here in this forum.

As far as my man Stephen A. Sometimes it depends on which way the wind blows on some of the stances that he takes. So it’s hard to label him a liberal or right winger. Overall I think he slightly leans right. Very slight. But he is definitely not MAGA. He hates Chump. He goes on Hannity quite often. They disagree when they discuss Chump.
Interesting, I think he leans left, but it is probably because of what we consider the middle. What he said does not change as a result of color. It wouldn't matter if a Chinese, Mexican or white said what he did, it would be true. The last several years we have seen projection by the dems towards the repubs in what was actually taking place by the dems. What in the world does color have to do with anything said? Are we to assume contradictory to data that blacks are more knowledgeable about matters and a black then would carry more weight and so I waited for a black? Perhaps I should look for an Asian since they seem to always be at the top of any academic measure? What would a black person saying this add to anything?

4) eh, I think the team IS soft. Doesn't mean they can't change but we have nobody with Zach OR Masons steel backbones (or hard muscles) on this team. To date.
We've shown we can play with any team in the country when we play well. Auburn (like CT) is very good and in ways that cause us problems usually. It will take a very good effort to beat them.

The sky is not falling. Good grief after Braden/Fletch/TKR we still have DJ/Raleigh/Cam/Myles and the frosh guards. Plus the kids coming next 2 seasons......I'll take that team.
I have no idea whether that next group of guys can play or not but it's been a long time since Painter ran a bunch of bums out there (sorry Tacos and Sauce).

How long can Boiler Basketball avoid being portaled?

Painter will eventually have to play the nil game on offense as well as defending against poaching if he wants to make a long tourney run. Maybe if he holds his base next year he can make a run without more than a role player pickup. After that, not so sure.
