Welcome to college football nowadays.

On another note, looks like we're adding some lineman and a TE that can block well. I like to see that.

Klare to OSU

Just curious. How did the guy who went to Oklahoma do this year? Did any of the receivers who left last year do anything this year?
You're thinking of Burks. Hurt probably half the year. A lot of catches for short yardage looking at his stats. I want to say he had around 235 yards receiving on the year. Looks like he had a good first game against Temple(?) and that was about it.

Hard to say what he would have done had he not got injured. OK's offense sucked last year. He announced he was coming back to OK for his senior year.

Colvin and Heide yikes

When sets breakdown. You need a PG that can dribble drive or create his own shot against tough teams.....ours does not have that ability. He's good when sets can be executed.
If you all recall, this was my issue with Painter recruiting Smith originally.
Granted, he entered into a perfect storm having Edey, but now we’re seeing his limitations because Painter didn’t get him any help in the portal.
Don’t get me wrong, Smith is much better than I expected, but he needs help to do what he does well.

2026 PG

Wasn’t sure where to put it - but saw a new recruit we are hot on

PURDUE: “The coaches check on me regularly, you know, just to ask how I’m doing. They give me tips in my game and talk with me about my games and how I’m playing. The coaches talk to me about Jaden Ivey. They like that I can change speeds and get to my spots anytime I want. They talk about how I’m an all-around player and can play with anyone.”

“I’ll probably start taking my visits during the AAU season, and after that,” Jones said.
“When I go on these visits, I want to go to a school where I can come in and play. I want the opportunity to earn a spot, not just be given playing time. I want to go somewhere I have great players around me and be surrounded by good people. A great atmosphere. I can play on the ball or off the ball, so that doesn’t really matter to me.”

Well if he doesn’t commit early to Purdue, other P4 coaches will soon take notice and offer him 😂 . Paint usually is in on kids earlier than most (as we know)

Who follows Kramer and Jordan on X?

Catchings would have been an awesome help. The problem with Catchings is he decommitted too late in the year to be able to use his scholarship on any player in the portal. The good ones were already taken.

I’m quite certain if Catchings had decommited earlier, painter would have found someone in the portal at the wing or big. Or he may have recruited another BIG instead of Cox.
We were already over scholarships by 1 with catchings. Once he decommitted we were right at 13. So, in regards to going to the portal, t didn’t matter when he decommitted since we didn’t have a spot.

Klare to OSU

What sucks is OSU didn’t recruit him, from what info I looked at, the guy develops and does well and here comes OSU with some big bucks and there goes Purdue’s best receiver! Guess most schools are just talent shows for the Schools with the money

Yeap and every day I get closer and closer to just being done with college sports.

Who follows Kramer and Jordan on X?

Straw man. There is no large group of people saying Purdue sucks. I can’t find one post. Discussing shortcomings yes. Discussing who needs to improve for Purdue to have some success in the league and the tournament yes. Talk about hitting the portal to fulfill needs to go really far next year yes. Discussing the types of teams that bother Purdue most, yes. All good.
You clearly don’t spend time on Twitter after a loss.

In my opinion, this is in a large part related to Painters offensive scheme. His decision he’s going to focus on his top 2-3 players to do the majority of the work the majority of the time. His third player is usually the other scoring option based on scheme. Yes he has a ton of plays/sets but our offense is run mostly through Smith and TKR. Pick and roll variations … the problem is teams are well aware and have found a game plan to limit the effectiveness. Aggressive D on Braden and push him away from the 3point line, the pick now is coming not near the elbows but several feet outside the 3 point line. Hard hedge brief double team Then drop off on TKR. Smith struggling to drive off of hedge and the short drop pass coming way to far out limiting TKR effectiveness and causing turnovers. Loyer is next option but this team is not setting good screens (damn I miss Zach) . Loyer has played pretty well most games but his funky drives to the basket have been harder and less effective. That leaves us with the two other players… Colvin and Heide are afterthoughts. They aren’t involved except setting picks and posting up outside the arc. I even think I’ve noticed Smith ignoring them on passes when open (I think that’s a different story). Paint has stated those guys can shoot when open but they shouldn’t be hunting shots. There’s no motion creating looks for guys. The ball tends to stagnate at times and then a forced pass … I truly believe the entire team would be more aggressive and engaged if we moved the ball quickly ran more motion and created plays for all 5 guys on the court. Harder to guard and creates more pressure on the D. It appears to me the guys are hesitant to shoot or drive being that’s not in the plays and the hesitation then makes it more difficult to score. Anyone else come away feeling like they are seeing what I’m describing? And no I’m not saying I’m a better coach than Painter. I’m saying there have been games where what the team is trying to force isn’t working and maybe changing it up some and getting all 5 guys on the floor actively trying to score might be worth a shot?
Holy lack of paragraphs Batman!

IU did not deserve to be in CFP. Great article by USA Today

It could be that none of them deserve to be in. By the results this past weekend that seems like a valid assertion. 12 is too many.
Since you're just soooooo worried about blowouts...

4 team playoff first round- 17.9 average point margin
4 team title game- 20.1

BCS title- 14.6

Bowl Coalition title- 10

Bowl Alliance title- 31.7

It's almost like blowouts are kinda just the norm 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

IU did not deserve to be in CFP. Great article by USA Today

12 is too many as evidenced by this weekend. 16 would be worse.
So then 68 is clearly way too many for college basketball right? Can't be having blowouts in the first round anymore. Are you sure 4 isn't too many? Considering the amount of blowouts in the first round of the 4 team playoff? Maybe 2 is too many. Can't have any blowouts in the national championship game right, so let's just pick the champion without playing the game.
