CMP deserves a lifetime contract.

I think he has figured out his strategy and he won't let it bother him. The strategy is don't play that game...keep doing it the old fashioned way. If there's a hole in the roster, get a nice grad transfer but otherwise stay out of the portal and let the guys that want to play for Purdue develop over time. As long as you keep guys like that in the recruiting pipeline, this is sustainable.
Do you know how many scholarships are available for next year? I didn’t look it up. I could envision CMP choosing an athletic wing or another ball handler from the portal if they would fit our culture like Lance Jones did.

Is Painter still recruiting for next year? I didn’t see much activity. I hope I’m wrong because I favor recruiting over the portal.

Chump won’t even mention MLK in his speech tomorrow.
He probably won't. It is his inauguration which is an event that happens every four years. I expect the event to outline his desires for the country and provide a message to all during this event. I also expect that next year there will be a message about MLK and the following years since that is a yearly event. He could surprise me and mention it today? Still won't be surprised that when he lays out his desires they also support a country that is color blind for the people while improving their lives and a DOJ that is blind to politics as well as the way it was suppose to be before Obama started using it against political foes...that Biden put on steroids.

When I'm wrong, I'm wrong......

I don't always agree with Bone, but hell, I don't always agree with anyone on here. We all have takes that turn out right and some that turn out wrong. It's a message board after all. I've never understood why some like to dig up old takes and throw them in posters face. But that's just me.

People that have different opinions is what makes a board work. Otherwise, you just have an echo chamber, and we already have plenty of those elsewhere in our lives.

When I'm wrong, I'm wrong......

Unique to Marquette, Kam Jones is not their only PG. Some places have him as a 2/3. So If calling Kam Jones a 2/3 makes you feel better go and do so. But here are 3 sources that have him as Point Guard, where he initiates the offense now and also will in the NBA,.......

Who do you think is the best PG? I'm guessing you consider Kam Jones a PG?

@BNI,
and another thing....you keep bringing up Marcus Freeman as a DEI hire? No one ever said that on this board. In fact, if you listen to Coach Freeman, I'm not even sure he identifies as black. He often mentions his Korean heritage as well. The talking heads have been trying to bait him into the racial discussion for a few weeks now and he swats their questions away like an annoying fly. He doesn't buy or sell identity politics. He's just a football coach.

In that interview Freeman acknowledged being black and his Asian mom.

Let me educate you and others on the subject of race. I agree with the modern anthropologists. In reality there is no such thing with the me concept of different races of human beings. We are made up of different cultures and ethnicities.

The races of human beings was a racial construct developed by the white racist scientists in Europe in the 16 and 17 centuries. We all were taught in schools that humans were divided into 3 races, Caucasoid, Negroid, and Mongoloid (Asians). That was grossly wrong for them to do that. They would measure the skulls of whites and Africans. Then based the size of the skulls on intelligence if some and I mean some of the white skulls were larger.

Unfortunately, identifying folks by race has been the status quo for centuries now. The bottom line is that white folks invented racism and now DEI and other programs to help minorities is the wrong. So DEI is y’all’s fault so get over it. If it wasn’t for racism, US slavery, affirmative action and DEI would not exist.

I have no problem with spending, but my wife does. We saved our whole life so now I have no problem letting it go. I’m not trying to save anymore and see all my friends are. They are getting cheaper by the day constantly complaining about prices. I always ask what are you saving for? They all want to leave more to the kids. They won’t do things because spending the money is not in the cards. I just don’t get it. Oh well to each their own.
I fully get it. FWIW, my attorney friend that did the trust encouraged me to spend my money. I was not raised with a lot of money. Had the depression not hit and my great grandfather not allowed people to have their money and absorbed all the debt that eventually led to his bankruptcy I would have had more money...but he did what was right. My sisters and I have all done okay, but for me now with some years I still do things to save a buck...just a habit grown over a few decades...and being diabetic it helps to be active when able

We are in real danger of missing the BTT

Here’s an article from Mike Carmin on Saturday’s game vs Wash. - it’s from something called a substack, in the Greater Lafayette Sports Report. I get it in my email. Maybe others do too, but thought I’d post the link in case you hadn’t seen it.

I've never claimed to be a victim or that DEI has impacted me personally. I disagree with it from a moral, ethical and sociopolicital perspective. I simply don't believe your skin color or sex should determine whether you receive special consideration.
But it’s ok for white folks to give answers to family members on job entry exams. How ethical is that.

If you complain about DEI the you and others are playing the victim card whether it’s personal or not. That’s what y’all say to me when I call out racism. Can’t have it both ways.

Wow....gotta say, I'm really glad I was so wrong about Smith. As many of you know, I was not a fan of his recruitment. I didn't think he had the size, speed, athleticism to compete at this level. He's not only proven me wrong, but he's being mentioned in the POY and All-American conversation. That's just...incredible.
I haven't been this wrong since I passed on buying a bunch of Bitcoin when it was about $2000.......
Congrats Braden, and congrats Coach Painter on a helluva find.
You’re wrong about Mockobee too.

Maybe you should fine new hobbies? Talent assessment isn’t one of them!

I’m talking about the Notre Dame fans and forums that had his head on a platter when they lost to Northern Illinois. DEI this, DEI that. Folks at work were calling him a DEI hire.

It was in our football forum that brought up that Ryan Walters was a DEI hire,

"road" to the conference championship

I saw this too and the metrics on travel are fascinating. Would be curious how much travel we did before this....

Feel like Painter/Keady had the saying about winning the conference title is defending your home court and picking up a few road wins.....

Out of those 5, I think 2 are potential wins in Iowa and Indiana. Michigan State and Illinois will be the 2 hardest. Michigan is iffy in my book.

Not impressed with Mich D. But yes their size is hard for anyone to deal with. Illinois D can be good on D, and on other occasions looks porous. Hope we catch them right, but with 2 top 20 NBA guys, talents on their side

My dad went to Purdue. All my brothers went to Purdue and two of us dated our now wives at Purdue. I am 56 and have four boys, three of them have graduated from Purdue. Two are in IT and one is a Marine officer. My fourth is a junior in the school of Technology (CyberSecurity). I share this to say we are a Boiler family through and through. I found this site years ago when it was the Old Gold and Black site and fell in love with the passionate Purdue members and their updates/perspective/insights.

I have seen a number of posters come and go but always felt this was a pretty good group of Purdue fans. What I have learned over the years was said above, the older I get, the more valuable "time" becomes. That being said, my prayer is that each of you (good and bad) have a personal relationship with Jesus as each of us will die one day, then life really begins. The 80 or so years lived here will be a blip in eternity and much of what is said, argued, or celebrated will not matter one iota.

I am thankful for this group of Purdue fans and though I have never met any of you personally (at least not that I know of), but I appreciate the comradery among this group. So when one who used to post here no longer does, they are missed. My prayer for everyone is for you to use the remaining time the Good Lord has given you in a manner that brings you the most significance.

P.S. if anyone knows of an internship position for a bright CyberSecurity young man then let me know.
