Braun Eliminates DEI

You and others on this site are sick, racist individuals that constantly downplay slavery or any other racist activity. I assume that y'all are Purdue sports fans for coming onto this site in the first place. You talk about standards I assumed as Purdue fans or alumni for some of you that y'all were above this but I was wrong. Y'all are jacked up individuals and should be ashamed of yourselves. It's just sad to see so called Purdue fans being so racist and non-empathetic of other human beings right here in the US where we all live.
BNI...I still believe you not to be a black man, but instead a fat, bald, aged old fart living alone with no family or friends stirring the chit and playing a role. I know many black folks and none of them preach racism about EVERYTHING as you do. Even the liberal ones.🤢

Best not to look at that stuff. It will drive you crazy.

In 2015 or 2016, I was looking at a small condo in Hilton Head. Nothing fancy, just a 2 BR, 2 Bath about 100 yards from the beach. They were selling for about $150K in one of the complexes we liked. Not sure why we didn't pull the trigger.

I looked a year or two ago and the same complex and size condos were selling for $420K.

A Revolution of Common Sense - A Seminal Shift in Values

Can't cross the First Citizen. Vivek is pushed out before DOGE can cut a single program.

That leaves one man in charge. Coincidentally he's responsible for cutting government spending while making billions from government contracts every year.
"Pushed?" I haven't read on it, but in a cursory review was unaware he was "pushed out" as opposed to seeking a governor's spot in Ohio that would be a stepping stone towards a presidential run if desired. I thought it was like musical chairs where the governor leaves for the senate and he fills the governors spot.

When I'm wrong, I'm wrong......

I likened him to Scotty Skiles. Skiles was not a tremendous athlete and he was also short. But there was just something about him that spelled competitor and success.

Smith is a floor general. And a coach on the court . Those are very rare qualities. That requires more than just athleticism!

Despite his lack of physical abilities, Skiles Had a very successful college career and a pretty good NBA career.

I believe with both Skiles and Smith, their success is ultimately connected to their college coaches and style of play. They are/were the perfect fit for their coaches system.

In a different system and a different coach both players may not have been as successful.

I liked and respected Skiles a lot even though he never played for Purdue
I was thinking about Skiles make up and Smith there is no doubt about Smith point guard ability if keep up his shooting range and look a little more for his shot some team will take a shot at him

yes, thanks. Will check him out! BTW, always have enjoyed your Purdue sports perspectives.
you can find him on youtube as well. All his books are great, but the one that goes back a couple hundred years is A Conflict Of Visions in how different sides of the aisle approach things. Many of his youtubes go back a few decades but may be addressing things today. Some are with another brilliant man William F Buckley. The most recent Social Fallacies is a very easy read and discusses many things today as well. Your interest in that area may be a nice start if interested https://www.amazon.com/Social-Justice-Fallacies-Thomas-Sowell/dp/1541603923

I just listened to a few minutes and perhaps this gives a taste...along with any book reviews. Ben Shapiro who is very bright considers Thomas the greatest living thinker in the USA and beyond. Login to view embedded media

Man, if we only took more investment chances.

I had a chance to purchase a few lots on Hamilton Lake (Crystal Cove) sometime ago. The price for each lot was 28k and you had to be on the 'list'. Well, a friend was the broker on the deal and I was at the #2 spot but my wife wasn't huge on the deal because my in-laws were on Clear lake and she believed we didn't need it. Now one of those lots are up for $290k.

Two seed talk

Yeah 25-6 would be in decent shape for a #1. Gotta figure (at least) 2 SEC teams and Duke look really good for 1s. The ACC competition is just not strong enough to give Duke more than 3 more losses. The top of the Big East is not looking good right now, so yeah 17-3 in the balanced B1G should make that happen.

But Iowa State in there too.
Interestingly, I looked a little at the rest of Duke's schedule, because I noticed that they are only 5-2 in Q1+Q2 right now. For comparison, Auburn is 11-1, Purdue is 9-4. Duke has the fewest number of Q1+Q2 wins in the top 13 of the NET.

The rest of the way, currently at least, they only have 6 more Q1+Q2 opponents, and one of them is actually Illinois.

The ACC is just that mediocre this year. Some of the Q3s could move to Q2 over time, sure, but that's a poor schedule.

interesting...no, I can't find time to listen to podcasts (, but you did explain your position). Could no doubt if I did while on here though... ;) Battling a bit with dry eyes and so reading is diminished. I do however like very much Thomas Sowell as he tends to tie "things down " historically as to what we see today. He is a treasure not enough have read.
I didnt listen to podcasts when I was working either, but since retired, listen to podcasts 3-4 hours a day including politics (Ben Shapiro and NPR), Purdue sports (Gold & Black, Boilers in the Stands), history (History Daily, American Scandals, Business Wars) economics (Planet Money, Motley Fool, Freakeconomics) among others. Tend to listen when I am gardening, woodworking, lifting weights, biking, kayaking or hiking by myself. We try to plan a trip a year to go biking in Europe so I try to learn a little bit of that country’s language as well through a podcast as well.

Hey, no need to beat yourself up on real estate purchases you should have made. I've been investing in real estate for over 25 years and there has been plenty of - Would've, Could've, Should've during the time period.

Check out the Florida market today. People during the 2020-2022 boom overpaid for property because of the airbnb market or flat-out thought it was a good investment. We now know that market is oversaturated, higher HOA fees for insurance policies and that market still hasn't hit 'rock bottom' yet.
but this spot was unique....deep water lot in our current neighborhood.

No, not saying “red state” isn’t true because of conservative lean and agree that it is really bad optics for FEMA, some of which is no doubt deserved. I am saying that there is an advantage to reading several articles from different sources to get a full picture of a situation. With that said, readers have to almost do the job of reporters nowadays because of the bias that exists with news outlets. Most of these outlets have been forced to be bias because they are having to follow the money. That is, if you are moderate, you probably are shilling out a lot of money for a cause. It is more people with a cause that are really to put out big bucks. If you listen to podcasts, check out “Business Wars, Season 98, Fox News vs CNN”. Brief synopsis is that Fox and CNN are more conservative and more liberal more on where the money is flowing rather than convictions, especially over time. This you can see as businesses, news outlets, groups line up on both sides of the aisle. Hope this more explains my position. Again, if you listen to podcasts, check out “American Elections: Wicked Games”. Fun listen that shows a lot of the same themes happening today happened all through history including economy, scandals, social issues, etc. Nothing really new, just different players.

We live on Hamilton Lake. Crystal bay and cove have filled up recently, but there were many years that the lots sat empty. Those that purchased and stayed patient have been rewarded for sure!

there was one very similar called the diplomat in cocoa beach. could have picked these up all day for around 28k 15-20 years ago. Were very small...but they would make a good rental

So are you saying this isn't true because "red state" is a conservative lean? "Twelve homes in 48 hours versus three homes over three months. Really awful optics for FEMA." Because if that is true, there isn't a whole lot more to say is there? I've had Amish build over $110k for me the last couple of years and know they are hard workers and get it done. Do I need a distraction from what they Amish built and what FEMA did...let alone the cost...and where would I find that non bias slant today? would I assume that circular referencing generating a large number of copied reports is not biased? No question the media has been slanted for some time and is much worse now than even a few years ago, but what side of the aisle is that media that we should search for articles not slanted?

The slant shows again the extra cost and inefficiency of the government who pays no price for making mistakes. Apparently this guy is going to get sued for apparently having out of context comments Login to view embedded media

I need to check that out. I know around 2010 they were low and I imagine the HOA and insurance and "property taxes" are all high. I missed on a direct ocean (cocoa beach) 3 br, two ba for 150 K years ago. I knew it was a good deal, but had money tied up.

-9.5 vs O$U

beside Thorton scoring in the lane, and Zach getting his arms slapped...Battle his some key three balls I recall. One maybe after a time out??

Yeah - he had 19, all in the second half, and he had a stretch of three straight triples in a couple of minutes that really hurt the Boilers (taking the deficit from 3 to 12) - one off a second chance dish, and the other two directly off Purdue turnovers. Don't recall any makes off of a time-out, though.

Wow....gotta say, I'm really glad I was so wrong about Smith. As many of you know, I was not a fan of his recruitment. I didn't think he had the size, speed, athleticism to compete at this level. He's not only proven me wrong, but he's being mentioned in the POY and All-American conversation. That's just...incredible.
I haven't been this wrong since I passed on buying a bunch of Bitcoin when it was about $2000.......
Congrats Braden, and congrats Coach Painter on a helluva find.
I've criticized CMP for alot of things over the years, but recruiting is not one of them. He knows talent & a good fit for his system. That & the fact that if you win Mr. Basketball in Indiana, it usually turns out you can play.
