iu week. First off.......

Cignetti won’t be at IU for long if he keeps winning at a relatively high level.
I think the bigger question is how much success can IU expect moving forward? Was it a complete cultural shift that will lead to talent accumulation and competing for the top 3-4 of the B1G or did they find a perfect storm of really favorable schedule, finding the right transfer QB and a new scheme?

They've clearly embraced the 3 guaranteed win non-conference (Old Dominion, Kennesaw State and Indiana State in 2025?) so they should be in bowl contention but will that be with a 6-3 or 7-2 B1G record or a 4-5 B1G record?

Daniel Jacobsen update from TOS

I mean I'm not sure there's much point in trying to shoehorn him in at the end of the season. The value added doesn't equal the lost season IMO.

Lost season?? I doubt he is here 4 more years. Thus, he can play this year, which currently there is absolutely NO sign of, then sure, not losing anything.

Hopefully, next year he is so flat out amazing, it's his last year & we end it as NC.

CJ Cox Defense

It probably takes substantial energy to pick up the ball full court like he does. Also he's probably at a higher risk of accumulating fouls than most with his on ball pressure. I know he picked up his second foul in the first half against Michigan and probably didn't play the rest of the half.
Painter rotated LewJack and Kelsey Barlow about every 4 minutes so they could keep constant pressure on the other team's point guard. They were also fun to watch.

Mt. Rushmore vs. the gravel pit

Some of us will still beg to differ on calling Edey Purdue’s “all-time scorer.” While that’s true for total points, Mount’s 32.3-point career scoring average beats Edey’s 18.2 by 14.1 points per game. That difference alone tops Robbie Hummel’s career scoring average (14.0)
You can downplay Edey's because of the more games played and thus lower average. But if you do, you should also downplay Mount's because of the lack of defense played and the much higher scoring games in his era.

At the end of the day, Edey holds the most points scored ever for Purdue and Mount holds the highest scoring average ever for Purdue. They are both in the record book and should be lauded as such.

Dreaming is free, so is believing in the tooth fairy, but no one does once they are a rational person.

This is CKGs first year with a team of her construction. This is who she is a a coach. She has not shown any hints that she and her staff can develop talent that they get. Recruiting is in fact her only strength as a coach I can see. Roster construction is an F, player development is an F, game day coaching is a D at best, offensive and defensive schemes are an F. She is unlikely to develop those skills while trying to coach up a terrible team of her own construction.
What I meant is that anyone who thinks Purdue is about to fire CKG needs to wake up from the sweet dream, because I don’t think it’s going to happen anytime soon

Thanks for the article. Could have been far more informative. Like how much does he actually weigh NOW? Is there really zero chance for him to play this season or is that Brantley's gut at this point? Good news is that this is exactly what we wanted as the silver lining to his injury. Bulk up....
I think it would take some significant and unfortunate injuries to have a Daniel Jacobsen coming off injury to be better than what Purdue could throw out there in the postseason. And if that's the case, I'm still not sure I'd blow his redshirt in hopes that he can hold his own in the tournament.

I don't know that I am at the he's a four year starter point some folks here are, but he's clearly a talented player and he and the team are better served with an unfortunate but useful redshirt season to bulk up and get stronger and come in next season more able to deal with the rigors of the position then to try to get him minutes on the fly end of season and blow the redshirt

Tuskegee Airmen will no longer be taught to Air Force recruits

We currently have ten (10!) aircraft carriers on order (link 1). At the same time we know full well that China, Russia and Iran all have hypersonic missiles that can take them out (link 2). And today's hypersonics are Mach 5 (a bullet from a rifle flies at Mach 3). This will soon increase to Mach 10 and some of the development is being done at a Purdue/ND joint lab facility (link 3).

Looks like we have hypersonic weapons in the works. What’s your point?

Did Gearlds not conduct a post game interview last night? Curious as to whether she still claims we are improving each game, but haven't been able to locate a vid.

That covers some of what she said.......... don't read on a full stomach.

Then you should know that new weapon systems; including the ones you speak of, are developed everyday. Why do you think Lockheed is doing, making paper airplanes? Then take years to implement, pay for and deliver. By that time Hegseth will be long gone from the Pentagon.

I fully agree that one of us is wacked out. I was an active duty US Army officer for 28 years and retired at the rank of Colonel (O-6). The only uniform you ever wore was Cub Scouts or maybe high school band while the studs were playing football. I said nothing whatever about "getting rid" of fighter jets or anything else. We need to stop procuring aircraft carriers, tanks and fighter jets because drone/missile technology has made all of them obsolete. We don't get rid of them, we just don't buy any more. We should focus DOD on the drone and missile development that will win the next war. Ditto the much ridiculed "Star Wars."
Thanks. By obsolete I thought you meant they are no longer of use. Their value is declining, but still useful against Iran, possibly Mexican cartels, and other enemies.

Big Ten only going to get 8 teams in the Tournament!

I've always felt there should be minimum requirements. 20 wins and .500 or better in conference.
Then you guarantee that the best teams don't make the tournament. You're going to take 20-12/11-7 Southern Illinois with a NET of 82 and 2 Q2 wins? Or 19-13/8-10 Georgia with a NET of 32 and 8 Q1/Q2 wins.

For FUKKS SAKE! The reason why we say DEI this and DEI that about Biden's hires are because:

1. Biden himself stated the number one qualification was skin color, THEREFORE it's more than likely the best person for the job was overlooked. IF the best person was a black lesbian woman then that's who it was, but that's not how that brain dead imbecile hired and it showed!
2. These people he hired were SHIIT at their job!
3. MANY of them should have been fired because they were so shiit at their job, but Biden refused to fire anyone

You have no F'ing clue what Hegseth's qualifications are so you're here bitching. Perhaps his best qualification for what we need is the fact that he isn't tied to the military industrial complex, but has enough military knowledge to know how to move our military forward.

If it was a black man, you wouldn't say shiit. Even if it was Hank "Guam is going to capsize and tip over" Johnson. That guy is another example of DEI and a testament to how stupid Democrat voters can be.
Hegseth only job that he was selected for is to do what they are doing now. Get rid of all of the DEI and other stuff Chump deems need to go. Hegseth was not selected to run the US armed forces like that position requires.

When “better than Archie Miller” is the brag it’s not going well.

As the OP said, there are so many reasons he won’t be Indiana’s coach as soon as this season is over. He’s lousy and he’s a dead man-coach walking. Kind of like football for both IU and Purdue; try and try again until hopefully they finally make a wise decision and get it right. Like Painter (or likely Cignetti), a good decision when finally made can have lasting excellent impact.

B1G Tourney tickets

Not that I'm planning to go, but I'm sure a lot of you got the email this week regarding BTT tickets. It came with the following note/warning:

Important Updates for 2025

With the expansion of the Big Ten to 18 schools, ticket allotments for each institution have been significantly reduced to accommodate all programs. This means fewer seats than ever are available in the official Purdue block. To manage this transition, ticket requests will be capped at two (2) tickets per account.

Ok, fine, makes sense. But there are only 15 teams that make it. Debate if you want about that whole idea, but my next question is, do the 3 teams that don't make it get an allotment? They shouldn't, other than maybe a box for VIPs. So really, there should only be 1 additional block of seats for the schools. Right?

The other thing about it, there's going to be more empty seats for the early rounds than we've even seen before.

Having thrown his team under the bus, it's only fair that Cronin's allotment would be conditional on having to take Greyhound to get there and back.
