Don't assume anything

Clearly, we should just fold & grant them the championship today.......lol

Kinda sounds like iu declaring an off season champion......but unlike iu, at least this Illinois team has skill players and a decent Coach. And yes if they do get Riley back, they would be much better. I see him in the draft though.
I wasn't touting ILL, it was to show how dramatically some teams will have altered their next season outlook vs what they had at the end of last season. "Someone" is going to be REALLY good that nobody saw coming. Hopefully it's us....

Murphy having surgery?

Eesh. I had both of my shoulders repaired from full labrum tears (5 anchors in my right and six in my left). I had my dominant arm repaired in my mid 20s and it took a full year to recover fully with dedicated rehab. His is a partial, but wow, that recovery time sounds short. Hope it goes well for him.
How long ago? It's CRAZY how quickly rehab often is now compared to even 5-10 years ago.

2025 Team

Here is a concrete fact. Purdue was found in 1874 and had not won anything in basketball or football. UNLV was found in 1957 and I am sure some your fans in this forum are older than that. UNLV have gone on to multiple Final Fours in basketball and won a National Championship in basketball in a historic fashion. That 30 points differential in the national championship game still stood today after 30+ years. Playing in the NC game is a blessing but beating your opponent into submission in a NC game is an entirely different level. I hope you can agree with that.
You guys are in a BIG conference but you acts like a little bitch. Rutger will surpass you if you're not careful. IU fans will forever refer your fans base as Purdone forever!
Blah blah blah 1990 blah something 1990.

How is Rutgers passing Purdue and in what?

9 man rotation prediction with minutes

Take it with a grain of salt, but here’s my current guess regarding the rotation and minutes distribution:

Starters:
Smith (38)
Cox (19)
Loyer (26)
TKR (31)
Cluff (21)

Rotation players:
Mayer (24)
Jacobsen (19)
Harris (10)
Murphy (7)

Others:
Benter (2)
Burgess (2)
West (1)

I emphasize guess as I may be way off.

Edit: The above assumes no redshirts. I actually think that a West redshirt is likely and a Burgess redshirt is possible.
Looks good to me. I posted below but i think cluff plays most of the 9 minutes that renn isnt in with murphy. I can see cluff starting and going to the bench early then subbing in when renn gets a blow. Mayer looks damn good to me too. 24 minutes sound right and i can see him being in at the end of games. Very confident, strong, and good ball handler to pair with smith to put the game away. Weve had too many helter skelter finishes of games. Mayer will be that second guy we need to ice it.

Murphy having surgery?

I get what you’re saying but if he’s “counted on heavily” for rebounding and defense” this team is in trouble. It might be a win if he can get to the “doesn’t suck” level in those areas.
There are more questions than answers with this story. Painter has shown that he won't play a 6-8 guy who can score but not do much else. If the guy Murphy is guarding scores more than him, and at 6-8 he doesn't get his share of rebounds, then he won't get much playing time. People here complain about Loyer's defense. Loyer will be on the floor a lot. If Murphy doesn't play solid defense, would he be on the floor much with Loyer?

2025 Team

Ya. I dont care about ratings. They are a mostly pointless system.

Purdue played in the basketball national championship and is about to be top 3 this coming year with a team of little transfers and sub 100 players.

Purdue to play Kentucky in an exhibition game at Rupp Arena

Okay I'll break it down once.

Indiana travels to Lexington in December.

Indiana coach Darian DeVries cleaned house. Both roster and staff, even including long standing Dr. Tim Garl. So Indiana has brought in 10 portal transfers and 1 freshman(so far). Hope it helps you.

Lamar Wilkerson(1 year left) 20.5ppg
Reed Bailey(1 year left) 18.8ppg
Jasai Miles(2 years left) 15.4ppg
Nick Dorn(2 years left) 15.2ppg
Tucker DeVries(1 year left) 14.9ppg
Tayton Conerway(2 years left) 14.2ppg
Josh Harris(3 years left) 13.4ppg
Jason Drake(2 years left) 11.1ppg
Conor Enright(1 year left) 7.5ppg
Sam Alexis(1 year left) 4.7ppg
Trent Sisley(4 years left) #66 on 247Sports

I put their records last year before there names. What would concern me as IU fan is there are a ton of low-mid major guys who have not had any experience winning at those levels, let alone the B1G.

Devries should be a stud. We'll see if Conerway can translate up a couple levels. For the rest of the guys, stats are just stats when you are losing IMO. I know everyone will point to Tonje, Florida gaurds, and those portal success stories, but going this heavy on this many mids with losing pedigree is risky IMO. We'll see.....
Indiana's situation is interesting and will no doubt attract plenty of national attention next season. Darian DeVries will be the Dusty May of '26 if he molds this new roster into a contender. But this total portal restock strategy could become more of a cautionary tale if Indiana straddles .500 in the B1G again and has to sweat out another Selection Sunday. We'll see how it goes.

Not to be Mr. Obvious, but the good thing about Purdue's situation is that Painter didn't need game changers. He just had to find a couple productive contributers who would mesh well with the rest of the team. I trust he accomplished that, but again, we'll see next year.

The difference in Purdue's off-season championship versus most is that their primary 'wins' came in the form of retaining current players.

Sort of like IU bringing back TJD except with another AA candidate and a bunch of other good players around him. We'll see how it goes for Purdue, but that was a decent season for IU with limited support outside of JHS.
Retaining Smith was massive. Which I didn't personally believe he was ever close to leaving. Getting Cluff was huge too. Cox and Harris were probably the most likely to get plucked and Purdue was able to keep them. There is a reason Purdue will be #1 to start the season.

My guess is Benter (and maybe West too) see way more minutes.

Having new options of Mayer, Benter and West might lower Loyer's minutes even more than you already did. Guy HAD to play alot last year. Might not be the case next year.

Hoping Mayer can help Smith so he doesn't have so much on his shoulders. Smith @ 30??? That means Mayer is REAL good!!

Actually, Purdue seems to be the off season champs this year. Indiana is flying well of the radar(which I like). And Purdue deserves it.

It’d be great for Purdue fans but the team (especially the younger guys) get way more out of the experience if it’s on the road in a hostile/crazy environment vs (an expected) top team.

So far, when we have lost these exhibitions, we have gone further in the tourney than the team that beats us (not sure there’s any correlation though 😂).

UK should be real good this year and Rupp will be rockin. They’ll get to see what could have been, had Smith gone there 😂

….gonna be a long summer In anticipation!!!
Purdue haters will balk, but the consistent thread in these scrimmages is that MP doesn't care if Purdue wins and may actually prefer they lose. Per your point, great experience either way.
