17 Players have entered the portal since Wednesday.

Every year almost all the roster will be expendable as players will chase the money. Coaches will be recruiting players on the roster game after game as players will be upset about playing time and the like. Every year as it stands currently, teams will have to pay up to rent players for a year. Commitment among players and coaches has come and gone. People are now a fan of the uniform, because these pros will come and go like the wind.

My source said that BIG10 teams would have a LOT more money to spend thanks to the BIG10 network contract and thanks to teams like PSU and Indiana participating in the playoffs last year.

It appears Odom is doing a good job using that additional money to attract a lot of transfer players Purdue would not normally attract.

I’ve also noticed a lot of the players that are coming to Purdue had previous playing experience with Purdue assistant coaches! I’m not certain if it’s the assistant coaches reaching out to former players to come to Purdue or if it’s players coming to Purdue wanting to play for their former coaches. But wow, this is something I haven’t seen in a long time! Players being attracted to Purdue to play for their previous coach. Just wow!

I’m not becoming a homer, but winning 4-6 games is starting to look more feasible. Winning 6 games and going to a bowl would be a nice step forward to regaining respect! Purdue is not in the same league as OSU, but we should be competitive against teams like Rutgers, Illinois, Minnesota, IU and northwestern .
Well your source does not know the rules. Its capped at $20.5m. All major programs are spending the same amount. Anything above that is the collectives and outside purdues discretion. The money you talk about is purdues not the collectives.

The cupboard was not totally bare. Mockabee stayed.
We will probably have 6+ starters that were on our roster last year. That’s not totally bare. But it’s not just the players but the culture you are trying to clear out. Had a lot of talented players shown the door who will do just fine elsewhere.

I believe after this year and Odom has a solid base of players that fit his style, you will see a lot fewer players leave and Odom signing a lot fewer transfer players.

I believe what you are currently seeing at Purdue is not totally related to NIL but rather to ODOM not liking the players who were at Purdue. Looking at our last 4 coaching hires, Brohm brought a lot of his players from WKU and players he was recruiting with him when he arrived. Hazell brought nobody from Ohio st with him when he arrived. Walters brought 1-2 players from Illinois. Looking at Odom, he brought a bunch of players from UNLV and a bunch of players he and/or. His assistants have previously coached. Odom is bringing players he is familiar with and who are familiar with him.

It’s also nice to see these new players are coming to Purdue from decent schools. Odom is not recruiting 2 star players from Wabash College Or Drake or SIU.
That seems obvious but history has shown it’s not true with Odom. He had almost as much turnover his second year as his first at UNLV and already lost 2 really good players last year in the portal. I’m not suggesting we will get 49 transfers next year but our 2-deeps will look very different.

Every coach have attritions across the nation. What worrisome about Odom is his selection of QB1. He is completely inept.

Oh asshat, you just have to accept that no one cares about you or your pathetic life. It’s clear you had a crush on CBO and he left you, now piss off!

And block…
Why wouldn't he love odom? Have him a 2 year run he's never seen. Not sure why you'd shit on a guy that did that

I believe it's capped for the first 4-5 years. After that it's a percentage of total AD budget. For some programs that could be in excess of $40 million or higher. The percentage is also a moving target, general consensus is it will increase as additional sources of revenue are created/identified/employed.

I have confidence in my source at THE OSU.

My only gripe on Brohm is that he spent an entire year knowing he was leaving and recruiting the Purdue roster. And checked out on recruiting Purdue.
My gripe is he left his brother to coach Purdue’s bowl game knowing he was going to leave and he recruited Purdue players to leave with him. Why was Brohm in so big of a hurry to leave that he couldn’t stay through the bowl game?

Where’s the logic here? Upset he knew he was going to leave but felt like he should have stayed through the bowl game? Doesn’t make sense. Why we still getting upset at the greatest coach we’ve had since tiller, a guy who passed up on his dream job to finish what he started here.

I don’t have a problem with him leaving. I just don’t like the way he left. We all knew Louisville was his dream job and he would leave some day. I would have preferred a clean break and that all of his planned assistants leave the same time he did.

In saying that, I should have realized Brohm did the same thing when he left WKU for Purdue and let his defensive coordinator take the reins of the team while he came to Purdue.

I also don’t like player’s attitudes about deciding not to play in a bowl game for fear they may get injured and it would affect their draft stock.

I’m not a huge Tiller fan either. I preferred Barry Alvarez I also liked Jim Young. I also liked Lee Rose more than Keady! I also liked Paterno over Bowden, shembeckler and woody Hayes. I’m not a huge bandwagon fan.

So you know the assistant to the regional manager in Scranton, impressive!
So you don’t me very well do you!! I don’t like people who make fun of people! Next thing you know, you’ll be saying he and the head coach were DEI hires

Props to the coaching/support staff during all this movement!! Odom has done it before so I have faith in the man but man oh man the portal is WILD!! I honestly don’t know how coaches can keep their head on straight right now let alone remembering all these new names. Heck the coaches may need a roster in their hand during the games…

I think this post symbolizes the new era of college sports perfectly (which I hate btw). In the past, most fans would support every single kid on the roster unconditionally knowing they were committed to the program and vice versa, thus thinking it a shame when someone leaves.

These days, I think fans will tend to lump all players in the same boat of being borderline mercenary's who are only as loyal and faithful as their opportunities warrant them to be. Therefore eyebrows will barely be raised as kids come and go. The bottom half of the roster suffers the most as they are not reaping the full financial benefit, but are clearly seen as expendable placeholders by both coaches and fans.
But... you're still hoping whatever that staff does with the portal produces a winner, regardless of whether you can't name a single player or not.
Sure, we all like to see guys come up through the program, develop and succeed, but we are also more interested in winning than anything else. So, if 80% roster turnover is the way to do it, then do it.

If he doesn't leave this forum, I'm going to file stalking charges on behalf of CBO....
