We are close, to what, a complete breakdown? The players don't play, the coaches don't coach, an offensive offense and a defense that usually doesn't defend. The only ones that do something right are the fans that fill the stands which deserve much better.
Pretty bad when your best player is the punter, who thank god, is an improvement from last year. The only improvement that I've seen in the last game is that their offense didn't put up at least two scores in the last few minutes of the first half as others were prone to do, but that's more on NW's poor inept offense.

But when Painter gives excuses for losing, you take him at his word. Yup, painter said we didn’t scout Creighton, so he must be telling the gospel truth. Painter wouldn’t lie to us!

NW had over 400 yards in offense on Saturday and they average just over 200 for the season.... Yikes!!

Yeah, that's the problem. Purdue had to win that game because Northwestern was probably the last opponent they had a reasonable chance of beating (save maybe--maybe--MSU).
I suspect that Walters understands that deep down. He just had to put something of a positive spin on what was really a damning loss. The rest of this season could get downright ugly.
And Graham Harrell is laughing all day on Saturdays. He was the scapegoat. Lol
I mean Harrell's offense might have gotten to 10 pts.
It’s already been really ugly , more expected loses won’t make it much worse
May have, but they still haven’t won a game since his firing. Not defending Harrell just a fact. Wonder if their are other coaches kind of wishing they would get canned?
