Trey is making his decision on October 30th

Indeed. The last IU game I watched was the Purdue game at Bloomington, the one where Bobby showed up to inspire the team. IU played lack luster, and failed to defend what I thought was a predictable and pedestrian Purdue offense. By the second half start, they looked like they were already beaten. I saw a general lack of enthusiasm by the players, and a coach badly out coached by Matt Painter. IU had better talent but failed to play well as a team.

Now, that’s just my observation, but I think it is somewhat accurate. I suppose all those issues could turn around by next season, but I wouldn’t bet on it. Things like team moral, and coaching acumen don’t reverse overnight. At least Tom Creans teams played with enthusiasm and energy. They had to, in order to overcome his wildly inept coaching. Archie is a better coach from an X and O perspective... maybe. However, he doesn’t seem to energize his team very well.

In any case, I do wish IU good luck next year. I want them to finish high in the BIG, just one place below Purdue.

I agree in that game that played very lackluster. That’s one game though (there were a couple more). Every team, including Purdue, has those types of games. Illinois and Ohio State games last year come to mind for Purdue.

Good luck this season and congrats on Kaufman assuming the rumors are true ...

Good post math-I was at that game and IU got completely out energized by Purdue. However, if you’d only seen IU play MSU under Archie you’d think they’d run through a brick wall to win.

In other words, one of the major problems with IU under Archie has been disappointing inconsistency. As an IU fan, I’m hoping that losing 55 minutes per game of Justin Smith and DeVonte Green will go a long way toward improving that problem. The proof will be in the results.

were those guys "cancers"?

Not flaming, serious question. Team chemistry is important. We saw that last year with at least one who apparently didn't positively contribute to the chemistry. I don't recall who posted it, but it was recently posted here that Arch is going to start winning because he now has 'his guys' and no longer has Crean's cancers.

Not sure I’d call them cancers, but Green and Smith were IU’s best players last year not named Trayce. When either were on, they were on, but both had many things going on in-between their ears and didn’t bring it every night.

High school kids still wear lace up ankle braces.
not the ones I've seen.

I know what you're talking about, but mine look like they're WW2 issue. :D

A few years back my daughter turned her ankle and it didn't look anything like mine. Her brace was something like this:

I’d say that’s too much of a binary choice.

Justin Smith is a really smart kid -academic all everything. But he’s certainly a sour personality and was a talented but really inconsistent player, primarily on the offensive end.

Green had a pretty troubled childhood. I think his teammates rooted for him and vice versa, but he was not only inconsistent on the court, but also inconsistent off the court. Kinda a quiet, still waters run deep type..

I think it’s more than fair to say that they were not winning basketball personalities, even if they were kids that one could root for on a personal level.

I'm assuming this is fake. It could be us or IU, but let the kid have his day. His choice, his day.

Yeah, I had the old school white lace up braces that weighed about three pounds each. My daughter plays vb and they all wear braces that have the Velcro wraps on the outside like that picture but are essentially an updated version of the old school lace up braces underneath.

I’m starting to think this is legit. Pictures are being posted of Kaufman at the high school where he was set to make an announcement. Sounds like they were probably rehearsing and didn’t realize they were live.

FWIW, Rabjohns has supposedly changed his tune and seems to be leaning PU. The IU insider I referenced earlier in this thread who had been 95% IU has said he thinks this has legs because his sources aren’t responding to him.

I like your post a lot. There is nothing there that says those two players were bad people. It sounds like they were good teammates and did the job in the class room. They didn't get in trouble with the law. I can root for people like that. And it doesn't matter to me that they played their athletics with the rival of my school. In the end, all these players, students and alumni enter our society. Being a contributor to life is the big deal.

The hilljacks in Bloomington are going to have a melt down over this. I predict a huge drum circle in Dunn Meadow, with a lot of tears, a safe space, and iu fans sitting in a chain line giving each other back rubs.
So basically the same thing you do when a recruit doesn't come to Purdue. I'm starting to see a trend here.

Or we just move onto the next guy. This one stings for sure, but there are other fish. Congrats on the pickup.

If it is true that TK is coming to Purdue, I hope that Boilermaker Basketball supporters don't gloat and rub it in the faces of others. This is truly a recent rare event to land one of Indiana's best from Southern Indiana over IU - - I hope we act like this is something that we can expect more of in the future.

As a lifelong Indiana resident, 2nd generation Boilermaker and someone who has worked with high school kids for more than 35 years I can confidently tell everyone that the tide for Purdue support is turning - - - getting back to the way it was pre-Bob Knight. Objectivity in local media coverage is beginning to get back to where it was in the 50's and 60's - - Purdue is seen as cool and relevant with teenagers at a level that I haven't seen in more than a generation.

Let's act like TK's recruitment and commitment is the norm - - and that there are likely more to come in the future. Matt Painter's honest, truthful, and high character approach is the RIGHT way - - the next few years have the potential to be even more fun and satisfying than the last few -- and those have been truly awesome!

Well, that's what every program does, but we can visit the IU Hoops forum and witness the reactions. It's been in meltdown mode. Yes, there has been "move on to the next guy" conversation, but much of it has also been as consolation.
It’s like that on every forum when you lose out on a recruit, including this one. There are a vocal few that are freaking out.

Exceptionally accurate and well said. Thank you! It has taken the honest approach to slowly get some recruits and get better. Now the word is out just how honest Matt is when so many still blow smoke. I'm elated for Matt and the staff that work so hard to only find them losing out at the last second and to now have a quality person stay true. Purdue basketball and football are both improving as is the campus. There are a LOT of positives going on at Purdue.

I like how kids in this area, including Louisville in this with Southern Indiana, are starting to see the benefits of Purdue. I think the Brohms coming to Purdue has helped with that. I realize that the Brohms are across the river, but Rondale is an Indiana boy. He grew up in New Albany.

Kentuckiana kids are looking at Purdue more now than they ever did. They see the quality coaches and the no BS that our coaches give to recruits. That is rare with almost every other coach saying things out of both sides of their mouths. Our coaches tell it how it is. Parents and kids respect that (most do). There is still people going to UK that care about being shown the money.

With that being said, if it turns out the rumors are right, I will have to gloat a little bit though. It makes my day. I live in IU, UL and UK country, and I take pride in hearing about Purdue in a good light and getting mentioned locally. I still hear all the time from UL and UK fans on why did they did not pursue Rondale like they should have.

What if was a planned “leak” by Kaufman and this guy to get everyone riled up hearing Purdue then he pulls a “syke” and picks IU. It would be a dick move for sure and I doubt that’s the case but you never know these days. Hopefully we hear Purdue this evening. Boiler Up

No.....When it come to iu, It's more fun to gloat, rub their faces in it, kick em when they're down, point and laugh.
