I could see the addition of 4th referee that focuses on the big in the paint to aid in the protection of players.

Purdue needs to make a bigger stink about the officiating or someone will be hurt, followed by law suits.

Exactly what I was about to post. Whey don't they just ring the court with officials...50 should do. Then we can enjoy 50 officials disappointing us.

Painter was unusually pointed in criticizing officiating in his pre-Maryland comments. He doesn’t normally do that, but in this case he’s been really expressing his frustration about the safety angle of not protecting Edey. IMO If we see him T’d up this season it will be today’s game - if the refs act like last time.

My fear is that the reffing will be temporarily better due to his criticism and eventually go back to the way it was. Kind of like with Texas/St Peters last year (Good Reffing then bad).

Awfully hard to run any offense when arm bars, holding, hacking, shoving the bigs, with the opposition riding the point guard. Big ten basketball is turning into maul ball.
