The Reports of Tom Izzo and MSU's Demise Were Greatly Exaggerated

Just a week ago, people were shoveling dirt onto the grave of Tom Izzo and the 2016-2017 MSU basketball team.

Individuals on here were saying Purdue was going to annihilate MSU when the two teams meet in East Lansing. That simply is not going to happen.

The 4 freshmen for MSU are very special. Miles Bridges will be the most talented player on the court when the two teams play. Tom Izzo has stated pg Cassius Winston is the best passer at MSU since Magic Johnson. Nick Ward is a beast down in the low block. Ward's numbers are very similar to Swanigan's as a freshman (although Ward is a much better shot blocker) The final piece of the freshman group is McDonald's All American Josh Langford who is just rounding into form after a lingering hamstring injury. Langford is probably MSU's best lockdown defender.

There is a reason this group of freshmen have been touted as Izzo's best ever in his 20+ year coaching career. The freshmen will arguably be 4 of the 5 most talented players on the court when Purdue faces MSU, with Swanigan being the other.

Never ever underestimate Tom Izzo. Those early season losses to Duke, Kentucky, Arizona, Baylor & Northeastern (without Bridges) have made Izzo's team tougher and better prepared for the NCAA tourney.

Btw,
For those of you thinking MSU wont get into the NCAA tourney. Dream on! They'll be there. They always are. It's what HOF coach Izzo does year in and year out. Book It!

Sorry Painter missed out on the recruitment of Ward.....he is a good one......guess Ward new Swanigan meant pine time for him here.

Sure enough. MSU beats their first team of significance this season and their fans are on other message board to make sure they know about it.

Nobody thought MSU was going to go below .500 in conference play and the win at Minnesota looks to be a big one for you. There is still a LONG way to go for you to start crowing though.

Insecurity runs deep in this one.

...Even when no one has the equipment to stand up and say they don't belong there....But it does appear his freshman class is loaded this year....Just really wish he would stop his whining...

Ummm.....

Not so fast my friend...

BTW: does anybody know: when a school schedules a home game off campus (like PSU in Philly), does the visiting team have to agree to it?

This is typical of MSU fans lately. Kind of like a wanna be version of Norte Dame fans. Arrogant but not as confident in that arrogance so they seek affirmation from people who just don't care.
"affirmation from people who just don't care." ;)

Karma bites!

This does not appear to be your grandfather's Penn State....good win for the Nittany Lions. They've had some players over the years, but I think Chambers is starting to make his team more consistently competitive.....still early....we'll see. Clearly so far, what people thought the lower part of the league would be is no pushover.....and the top of the league may be somewhat volatile.

This could be a roller coaster conference season.....Boilers better buckle up.

Yep. Every team in the league will lose games they 'could have' won. How each team reacts to those games will determine their place in the standings. Here's hoping that our team is mentally tougher than some of our fans.

There is no doubt that all the players are mentally tougher than many of the fans...no doubt at all. I just hope they are mentally tougher than the players on other teams.
