I was at the same game as this guy and after reading this post I am depressed from the eyyore attitude..no idea what "over programming" means but it was one of the best spring games I've been to from an entertainment standpoint...we look much much more like a big ten team than we have the past couple seasons. Long ways to go but I came away somewhat excitedOriginally posted by BoilerStutz:
I stayed for the first three quarters. Here are my thoughts:
First, the unimportant. The open part of the stadium looks a lot better without the stands. The scoreboard and the dorms behind it look nice and give the stadium a college feel. I did not expect this. The band was hyperactive today. I was trying to talk with the retired coach I went with but we could not hear each other until we moved to the other side of the stadium. Burke is over-programming the game in an attempt to create some entertainment. Bad idea.Blough looked much stronger to me than the other qbs. He is able to escape and extend the play, an important skill with our limited offensive line. Appleby looked find and Etling still panics. Blough probably will not see a lot of time this year, and I think that is a big mistake. Marshall did look very athletic as a receiver. The other receivers did not look athletic. Our linebackers are real men. We will see if they play like this during the conference season.I thought the offenses and defenses were marginally better. By now, one would hope for bigger improvement. It is not clear Hazell will improve things fast enough to remain beyond his original contract.. Recruiting has not come along as most of us had hoped, and one can see this on the field. It is time for field turf at Ross Ade. The grass is a struggle, and it is not worth the effort. It was a gorgeous day in Ross Ade, the football was ok, and the crowd was smallish. No one will confuse us with a strong program.
I have always preferred grape kool aid myself!
