Do the Hoosiers break out those IU/ND reversible jackets and cheer on the Irish now that we all know IU and "The Big Cig" were nothing but fool's gold this year?

Gonna' be a long sad year on the basketball court too.

A lot of money spent on a blown-up coach and a Canadian QB who we were told loved cold weather.

you left out a 24 yr old before Canadian

IUFB will be fine in 2025. There are "maybe" three games IU could lose - at Iowa, at Oregon, and at Penn State. So, 9-3 or 10-2 (not including a bowl game) will certainly not be "back to reality", and the bucket will stay in Bloomington.

Depends what their schedule is like. If they stack the cupcakes again then they'll likely have another faux season.. but if the teams have a pulse, likely .500 or middle of the pack.

Bucket likely comes back to Purdue as our new coach won't be the same walk in the park CRW was.

As a Purdue fan I would have loved to be playing in a bowl game. Let alone the playoffs. So not really sure if it's fools gold. If they have a dud year next year then we will know.

Even if IU would have a similar record next year, you know the CFP committee won’t make a similar mistake again.
If Indiana is 11-1 again, then it means they have 8 conference wins from a group of Illinois, at Iowa, at Oregon, Michigan State, UCLA, at Maryland, at Penn State, Wisconsin, at Purdue... So they'd end up with road wins over Iowa, Oregon or Penn State as well... Yea that would easily get them into the playoffs.

Average margin of victory in this weekend’s games: 19.25

Average margin of victory in the ten CFP national championship games: 20.1
So what do you think that points to, every year there's one really good team in college football and a bunch of pretenders?

Zero chance.

Most of the key guys on Indiana's defense (incl all three 1st team All-B1G), both starting wide receivers, the majority of the offensive line, and nine of the ten top assistant coaches including both coordinators are returning. A ton will depend on whether Mendoza and Hemby pop for IU this week; both would be a talent upgrade.

At Oregon, at PSU, and at Iowa are very tough games, but there's no reason to believe they'll lose the three early season cupcake games or to the mid/lower level B1G teams, especially at home and especially when looking at what they did to those teams the past year. Based on expectations they'll likely be favored by at least a touchdown in 9 of 12 games and will be about a touchdown (or a little more) underdog in the other three.

So, by your theory, they'll win all those games and then likely fall flat when it counts most. I know you guys know this, but ND was the better team and now owns the state. Every team is going to get better if they're willing to spend money and it appears that PU is finally in that group.

Cig had the easiest schedule he could have for a first-year coach, and that will be different next year.

Come on, give the clown pants enthusiasts some credit…every star athlete grows up wanting to play football for Indinia where they get the opportunity to play Kennesaw State or Old Dominion. Oh wait, thats not how that works … miracle season (schedule dependent where they failed to be competitive in the games that count) followed by sophomore slump for clown pants curt in 3…2….1

Not really my theory. My theory is that while things don't usually play out as planned, IU will have a consistency of personnel and culture that should serve them well against the B1G.

Cig went 11-1 against a relatively easy B1G schedule in retrospect, but given that UM, Washington, and Nebraska were all well-regarded in August, you never know. But I am reasonably sure that the three pre-conference games, Wisconsin and MSU at home, and Maryland and Purdue (sorry) on the road are pretty likely IU wins. That's seven wins, and then they have to win two of Illinois and UCLA at home, and Iowa, PSU, and Oregon on the road.

Clown pants curt went 0-2 when it mattered - and you’ve come here to brag. In the past 5 years I’ve seen my team repeatedly knock off top 5 teams, which I’ll take every day over a scheduling fluke. Those games are memorable, your team and CPC let the fans down when it mattered. Trust us those wins are way more memorable than beating Kenessaw State.

I really dont like making fun of IU. They got Blown out in the playoffs, good for them they made it. Sucks as a Purdue fan, but come now, i was happy 3 years ago when we made the Big Ten championship game with some "fools gold"

I really hate ND football allot more than IU football (basketball reverse) because often ND is a pretender not worthy of their ranking or contract with NBC or their arrogance.

In a way I was happy for IU football, gives me hope Purdue football can turn it around with he right coach and a couple of good portal transfers.

You think that when your rival is projected 17th in the 18 team B1G yet ends up losing a college playoff road game 27-17 to finish 11-2, that's a disappointing or unmemorable year? Then I can't wait for IU to have what you would consider a good year!

Have an excellent Christmas and holiday season my friend! Safe, faith-filled, happy, and healthy to all.

Is this the spot where it gets interjected that in approx. 130 years of Purdue football, they have won 10 games once and that was 45 years ago.
