Sure we could have played less competition and had only one loss right now and probably be ranked in the top ten - but without going up against some of the best teams and seeing our defensive weaknesses this team would not be playing at the level they are now. Kudos to Painter for his non conference tough scheduling. Boiler up this team is becoming legit!!

Basketball it makes sense to schedule tough non conference games.

SOS matters greatly and you have 30+ games to play enough other teams to get to 20+ wins.

Football it does not unless you are a projected playoff team.

If we can somehow win both out West - gonna be extremely tough - then have those 3 home games - which we are winning - we will all of a sudden not be overlooked anymore for the BT Title. Kind of like not being talked about but if we are 10-1 all bets are off. Getting way ahead of myself but we almost need that since 3 of our last 5 games are at Mich State, IU and Illinois.

I have to believe that as a result of the pre-season, there will be nothing put in front of this team that they haven’t seen before.
