Listen I'm not paying for 6 to take my family to watch nobody's. I'd gladly pay a grand for ND or a big name school.

Listen it's okay to have different opinions. Some right some wrong. Usually you can tell which one is wrong by who slings personal attacks.

I agree we shouldn't schedule Alabama week 1-3 but we should also not schedule Snider High-school either.

Nobody would have blamed Painter for having a weak OOC in 2006. If Odom is here 20 years he should be scheduling strong like Painter. Not everything has to be one way or the other at all times.

You're missing the point, which is, for where Purdue is as a program, playing ND serves no purpose.
Tell me, what good does it do the program to go to South Bend and lose 49-3?
As opposed to say, replacing ND with say...NC State, K-State, or even a Colorado. Those are still name programs, but you at least have a much better shot at a W.
Play ND again in 2-3 years when you've rebuilt the program.
No guarantee you rebuild 2 years 20 years 200 years. Just play quality opponents.
Playing a national televised game is great for both schools. In state and God forbid we become good again it will bring in ratings.

Sorry for derailing the thread. I guess I'd rather play ND than take an L to teams like Toledo 2010, Northern Illinois 2013, Eastern Muchigan in 2018. Just to count games I personally went to. I'm sure we lost plenty of more games that when you win it doesn't mean much. When you lose you look like idiots.

Saw it. If we are “competitive” again someday, sure. But right now, no. Having Walter’s teams on national tv last year getting beaten by record numbers in Ross Ade did nothing to promote the program in a positive light. I would have rather our games being played on the tv in the last remaining Blockbuster in America.
Stop playing ND early in the season, push them to rivalry weekend in November. That way if we win it spoils their season (see Northern Illinois), and let’s be honest we’ve owned IU in the bucket series that it’s expected we beat them every year - push them to week 3 and move on.
Getting embarrassed on national TV does you a lot more harm than good.

iu was smart to buyout the Lville game. It probably helped them get to the playoff. No iu fan is apologizing for that decision.
ND doesn't see Purdue as a rival. It's just another game to them. You leave iu where they are and where it should be: blood rivalry game should be the final game of the regular season.
And for the same reason (about a .700 winning percentage) I’m not sure I see IU as much of a rivalry game in football either.
