So I guess Gonzaga isn't the only team to get better since November

I actually thought they were better. But obviously Purdue is too. Much better!
That is correct. People made the observation and also ignored the other side of the equation. Much like noting how poorly Gonzaga shot in that game while not noting that we also shot the ball poorly (as a team that ended up near the top of the country in shooting).

This is the first year Purdue has actually looked like it was actually better in the tournament than at the beginning of the season. This is also the first time Purdue has looked like they made adjustments at halftime! This was also the first time in tournament play they played with a purpose And controlled the tempo and forced the other team to play their style of play.

They say the tournament is based on guard play. Well we have 3 of them that want this badly. And a guy in the middle who wants to prove people wrong and win this thing!

Tonight was probably Purdue’s best game of the year! This is what makes a champion.

Whaaat? They put up 106 in their last game, that was the best they have played. Purdue and Painter have been making half time adjustments all season...

The last game they played was against inferior competition! And for all practical purposes, it was a home game.

Tonight’s game was against a worthy opponent and they played a disciplined game. Scoring a lot of points doesn’t make a great game. Defeating a worthy opponent does.

Go back in time to watch UCLA and Lew AlCinder play against Elvin Hayes in the tournament. That was probably Lew’s greatest game at UCLA.

It wasn't just the points scored and Utah State wasn't inferior competition. Gonzaga is not a great team this season. Purdue played great tonight, but they were most dominant against Utah State. No way to prove this point, just my opinion. Purdue didn't pull away from Gonzaga until about half way through the second half. Against US they left no doubt and got after them early. Tonight was a 5 point game at halftime, lots of missed opportunities in the first half.
