Schnider Herard

@Scutt_herard: Final 5 schools in no particular order #SoBlessed #HaitianSensation http://t.co/kChZyM2xzP

Made his top five. That's pretty solid. And besides Kansas, we are by far the next best school. That would be a very solid pick up.
Landing Herard would be huge for the program. I'm impressed with Painter for making his top 5. Now, hopefully Purdue can get him on campus for an official.

Yes, very impressive job by Painter to get in his top 5. Let's hope we get a visit.

Don't count Mississippi St out either. They landed Malik Newman, a top 10 player, in 2015. Ben Howland has had plenty of success as a recruiter/coach.

That said, I would love to see Carsen Edwards help recruit Schnider Herard to Purdue. With them both being from Texas, they could develop a bond before they even land on campus together. These two would make a great inside-outside duo for the class of 2016. I love that Painter is expanding to Texas, Alabama (Haas), and the New England area (Taylor) in his recruiting efforts.

Good point about Howland, although three straight Final Fours apparently doesn't get you as far as it once did.

Until Painter gets a visit this really isn't anything IMO. Have him in for one of our crazy B1G home games...perhaps when we smash MSU.

Well, if he doesn't sign with Purdue, a visit doesn't mean much either, but if he's going to announce a top five, I'd much rather that Purdue be listed among the five than not.

This still seems like a long shot, but much less so than it seemed, just a couple of months ago.

I'd be incredibly thrilled if he ended up at Purdue, but the fact that he doesn't have an official visit scheduled means a great deal to me.

Time for Painter to earn his salary.

Stay tuned. He will earn it this season.

So you're saying Purdue should finish second in his recruiting? Because if it's all about earning a salary, then there is now way Self and Kansas should let him get away and go to Purdue. After all, Self's salary is twice that of Painter's.

You gotta love the fact that Purdue is in consideration for these top players. I love the fact that we are starting to get talented players even on the bench. Keep it going and we will reload not rebuild.

What I'm saying is that the three schools that currently have official visits scheduled are most likely his top 3.

If Painter is going to land this guy, he is going to have to play a lot of catch up.

If the staff can get him on campus, Purdue has a chance.

Did James Banks already make an unofficial visit? If he's at La Lumiere now, he shouldn't have any problems making visits.

Herard will make his official visit the weekend of Oct. 2. Getting him to take an official visit is great news for Purdue. Could you imagine if we can get this kid and have him play under Haas? And as mentioned before, maybe Carson Edwards can contact him and help Purdue recruit him.

This is great news. I think that one of Painter's best assets in this recruitment will be his players.

Not sure how much it means since he said the same thing about Holand and Self but he tweeted "Great talk with Coach Painter tonight look forward to taking a visit there #BoilerUp #BigTen"
That is encouraging if he tweeted #BoilerUp after talking to Holand and Self too!!! ;-)

Great news! I really didn't think we were under serious consideration a few weeks ago. We made his list but we weren't mentioned when he was scheduling his officials. I heard a rumor that Painter was trying to schedule an in home visit. I don't know if that ever happened but, either way, it seems like Matt got the message across. We have a shot now that we can get him on campus and talk to the guys. I still think we are a bit of a long shot because Haas probably is a 4 year guy (no complaints here) and he may not want to be a back up for two years. We'll see what happens but we are in the game now.

He may actually want to the same opportunity that Biggie wanted... a chance to play with a big center to show off more of a power forward ability for the NBA. With Haas, the two of them could be really good down low.

Painter made the in home visit yesterday before that tweet came out. Going to get a couple cracks in person - here's hoping our impressive front line resonates with him on Oct. 2. Would be nice to see Kansas pick up a big guy between now and then as well...

I think that Haas could put Purdue at a disadvantage, but I think that Isaac himself has a chance to turn that negative into a positive. I've heard Isaac talk about how great it has been to compete with and learn from AJ and it is quite compelling.

The other thing to consider is that playing time at Kansas will be even harder to come by.

Having Brantley, a three time Big Ten champion center, on staff can't hurt either.

the little I've seen on video is that he is strong and dunks...and dunks...and dunks. He may be very raw outside four feet and so he may need some time to fully develop. That is not to suggest he couldn't play now, but rather he might have an interest in going where the bigs may be a focal point offensively and a chance for development at a 4 spot with his strength.

I agree that it would be real nice to see Kansas pick up a big guy. Herard has to be impressed with the big guys on our team. Be nice to get him.

Okay so Herard visits this weekend. I hope he has a good visit with Biggie, Haas and others. Hoping he commits to Purdue.

Herard would have the opportunity to be a part of a frontcourt that could potentially include bigs such as Haas, Swanigan, Taylor, and himself. The luxury of battling against other quality bigs in practice, being the starting or backup center and being on a team that, on paper, looks to have considerable talent should be appealing to him. The frontcourt of Purdue's should be at least as good (or better) as the one at Kansas next season.

Ya... highlight videos are what they are... highlights. No one is very interested watching post moves in a highlight video unless they end in a dunk.

Herard is at a point where potentially he could come in to Purdue in 2016-2017 and start from day 1 with 20+ minutes. He is not very raw, just that athletic that you can fill a whole video with dunks. Unbelievable strong and physically mature for his age. Conditioning would not even be a question of thought.

Kid is very VERY good.

I have been saying this for a while now. Unless Purdue gets a commitment from Herard before he visits Kansas on the 9th, he is going to Kansas.

Late Night at the Phog will wow him and probably get a commitment on the spot, calling it.

Can you imagine if we moved Biggie to the 3 & Vince to the 2.

5 Haas
4 Herard
3 Swanigan
2 Vince
1 ??? by committee

I hope not. I am sure he will be excited about Kansas though. I am hoping he sees our talent at Purdue and is wowed by them. Staff will tell him he has a chance to get minutes with Swanigan graduating.

Also, any news on the other bigs that Purdue are looking at?

Is there anything special going on this weekend at Purdue with the start of practice?

I don't think he'll get minutes with "Swanigan" graduating unless we've added one of IU's 3 semester BS degree programs!!!

Ya... that's a terrible lineup, but why stop there? We can do something better this year

5 Haas
4 Hammons
3 Taylor
2 Biggie
1 Edwards

Biggie will never play anything besides the 4 or sometimes 5. Vince will never play the 2. Anything outside what we are trying to do this year is ridiculous.

Sagaba Konate and Clevon Brown just committed to WVU and Vandy respectively. We just had Kadim Sy for a visit and unless something weird happens I bet we get him.

Banks and Herard are long shots but we are still trying.
