Ya... that's a terrible lineup, but why stop there? We can do something better this year

5 Haas
4 Hammons
3 Taylor
2 Biggie
1 Edwards

Biggie will never play anything besides the 4 or sometimes 5. Vince will never play the 2. Anything outside what we are trying to do this year is ridiculous.

Vince has skills. Seriously, I bet he could play there for stretches if CMP wanted him to but obviously there's already a lot of competition at that position.

Vince could play and guard the 2, no problem. I think he'd have a tougher time playing/ guarding the 5 spot than he would the 1 spot.

I don't know how well he could defend 2's but I definitely agree that he could play it offensively. However, there's obviously depth there already plus the 3 is probably his best fit right now (although the 2/3/4 are typically very similar in CMP's system). I think it's fair to say that his offensive play was better than his defense as a freshman.

Those of you playing with lineups that have Vince at the 1 with Biggie playing anywhere other than the 4 or 5 are ridiculous. Obviously, some of you are being sarcastic in your responses, but think of this for just one second: Could you imagine Vince trying to guard Yogi Ferrell? Or Biggie trying to guard Blackmon? It would be a shit show on the defensive side of the ball. You couldn't even try a zone because it would be ridiculously slow on the perimeter.

Honestly, some of you people's ideas are so far fetched that I can't believe you speak as if you know basketball and think people believe it.

I'm guessing you've never seen Biggie play. I have in HS & he could play the 3. After Davis leaves, who's going to be our big defensive stopper??? no one... so why not play the best 5. If your telling me that DM or KS could play better D than putting VE at the 2 & Biggie at the 3, I would buy it, but they can't.

I don't see Biggie at the 2, the 3 yes, but not the 2. The discussion was about next year & Yogi will be gone, so no, we don't need to worry about VE guarding Yogi next year unless it's in the NBA. Biggie will not be playing the 3 this year, we are set with both RD, VE & BS. I do think VE could play the 1 or 2, but lets hope it doesn't come to that.

On the other hand I'd love to see yogi try to guard Vince or Blackmon try and guard Biggie. Or anybody on that team try to defend AJH.

Seen Biggie play more than 20 AAU, HS, and USA games. I know the kids game. Right now, he could not play the 3 in college. Not even close. His passing, strength, midrange shot, and back to the basket play are what make him able to play the 4 or the 5. The 3 is basically a guard spot. Think Caris Levert or Zak Irvin. That's who plays the 3. Biggie could not guard those players. They are too fast and quick for him as well as being too great of shooters for him to guard on the perimeter.

The college 3 is not where Biggie could even imagine playing unless he becomes a much better 3 pt shooter and gets unbelievably more mobile. Him guarding smaller 4s is still a question mark and not proven at all.

Thank you for typing that out so I didn't have to!

And for the other poster that said, to the effect, let's see them try to defend Biggie at the 2 and VE at the 1...Easy, zone defense. With mobile players on the perimeter and essentially a lineup that has one threat at the three point line, you could pack every player inside 15 feet.

Just because it seems like a good idea, doesn't mean it is and I honestly get the sense from some of the posters here you honestly believe Purdue would win games playing that lineup. Any team in the conference would run that team up and down the floor dry.

Let's say you've got a jigsaw puzzle that takes 5 pieces and you've got 12 pieces in the box. Just because some look prettier or are shaped better than others doesn't mean you can take the 5 best looking ones and have them fit together in the puzzle. The pieces have places they work best and other places not so well or not at all.

Well VE just said he played some 2 in practice. I would be careful about saying the word never or anything is absolute with this flexible team.

I agree with you, but don't you think the flip side would be fun to watch? Yogi trying to guard Vince and Blackmon trying to guard Biggie?

Biggie has range from the arc & will shoot from there several times this year. I'm not saying he will play the 3 this year, he won't, we have to many 3's. I said next year would be a possibility if we recruit another 4. Also, just because a guy plays at the 3 doesn't mean he is going to guard a 3 at the other end. Offense & Defense are complete different.
