Ronnie Johnson really bringing the sauce last night

Frankly, I like knowing what Ronnie did. I don't think it is spiteful at all. I just like knowing that his contribution to his new school is about at the same level as his contribution to Purdue's team. It helps to confirm that sometimes the right things happen in life and basketball. Thanks to the OP.

No it's spiteful because he only posts something when he has a bad game. It's weak and classless at best. Ronnie is having a pretty good year and so is Houston.

Don't need to be posting these threads.
I tend to agree. The guy is gone; he's moved on and Purdue has moved on. There seems to be too much hostility people are still holding to with him, like there is some joy in watching a guy fail even when it has no bearing on your own team.

Frankly, the PG position has been kind of a mess for several years (save for JO falling from the heavens mid-semester last year). Sure, Ronnie had his faults, but clearly the staff has not found what they're looking for in a 4-yr point guard in quite some time, nor have they really done all that great a job of maximizing the talents of the guys they've had. I think it's fair to say Ronnie's issues were more about Ronnie than they were about CMP...but I don't get the vibe he's missing playing here any more than Painter's missing him for not being here.

That's fine. I think the IU Sucks chant is weak and classless at best but I don't think anyone is going to be stopping that anytime soon.

For the record, I'm not sure I've posted much about Ronnie before that. However, your objections will encourage me to do so more often in the future.

Not hard to see what the problems were. Just look at the results the two years he was here compared to the results both before and after.

BTW, if Ronnie has moved on then why was he gleefully tweeting about CJ Walker when he withdrew his Purdue commitment? Strange way to "move on".

Yeah, he makes 1 comment nearly a year ago, and it's been nearly 2 years after he left Purdue, while some on this board have relished in each of his perceived failures ever since. If you want to believe he hasn't moved on, I'll rephrase to say he's "moved on more than people here have".

Short version: be the bigger person.

I think it's the first time I've looked at a Houston box score since he's been playing there. So are we even on your "bigger person" scale?

Look, it is not a "bigger person" issue with me. I am just curious about kids that have played in the past for Purdue. I like hearing about them. I wonder how Ronnie's older brother is doing too. That doesn't make me a lesser person, right? I know you are specifically targeting the posters who gloat about the struggles Ronnie has had in applying his particular brand of "sauce" to his game. I don't really care that much. I am just curious abut their fates.

It looks like he's shooting much better in all aspects (2PT, 3PT and esp FT), averaging 10% more points in fewer minutes and 0.5 fewer turnovers. IMO, his numbers are better than our two PGs combined.

He and Painter were not a good fit. BTW, let's just not put it all on him either since we all know Painter can be a hard-ass quite easily. However, if he could have stayed here, we'd have a stable, senior PG who is actually quick with the ball - I'd say one thing we're really lacking on the team this year.

No need to bash the guy who left two years ago.

Agree! The kid just didn't mix well with Painter. We have all had bosses that we didn't mesh with. Coaches are much the same. Good to know that he is doing all right. Same for Lawson. I had always hoped he would have a breakout year, but it never happened, here or elsewhere. Wish the kids the best.

I'll take our point guards because right now we're not dead last in the conference.
