Very tight 1st set won by Purdue in extra points 26-24. Hudson leading with 8 kills and only 1 error. And her 1000th career kill on her first one. Boilers seem a little lethargic. But better a win than a loss.

Purdue wins 2nd set easily 25-12. Purdue’s hitting % for this set was 0.414 vs MSU’s -0.074. Purdue has 7 blocks vs 2 for the Spartans. Eva continues to dominate with 15 kills against 1 error. Chloe is pretty silent with only 4 kills. Could she be hitting the “freshman wall?”

The troublesome thing is Coach Shondell making two challenges and losing both. The second was when Purdue had a 10 pt lead and was done at the urging of his team. I hope that does not come back to bite us in the butt.

Eva had 21 kills and 10 digs hitting 0.500. The only other player on either team in double figures for kills was Chloe with 10 kills and who also had a double-double with 10 digs. Purdue had 11 bocks vs 3 for MSU.

So Purdue finishes the regular season with 21 wins and 3rd place in the Big Ten. Let’s see tomorrow evening who comes in to Holloway for the first round of the NCAA.

Very big win, Purdue likely earns a 10-12 National seeding, that means a easier (somewhat) sweet 16 match, it beats playing a Nebraska or Texas in a third round match.

Yes, good observation. Switching out Lourdes for Colvin as our middles is such a potent combo.

Going off RPI, I would guess 10 seed. Although we beat Kentucky and they are one spot ahead of us in the latest RPI that I could find. Not sure how much tweaking is done to spread conference teams for the rounds of 16/8, but that could move us up or down a spot or two.
