Ok, I’ll say my 2 cents.
Didn’t look like ourselves, too many TOs, sloppy passes, Smith and Edey foul trouble and people just being a step slow. With all of that, we shouldn’t have lost the game but onward and upward.
Looking forward to our opening round game. Get Smith rested and back to 100%. After every loss, we have bounced back and come out with a fire. I am most interested in how we handle the first 6-8minutes. Don’t put it into cruise control and just throttle whoever we play. Time to put the demons to rest and silence the critics.

One other silver lining.....after again having to push the heart back down the throat yesterday......Braden Smith looked better physically than expected. Several days, and he should be good to be recharged and ready for a run. Not having another wear-down with Illinois tomorrow MAY (emphasis on MAY) be a blessing in disguise.
Bottom line - regardless of today's result......there is only ONE WAY......only ONE....for the Boilers and Painter to alter their perception (not that it's the most important thing - but it's there, naturally). Start up the redemption tour/bandwagon......let's see what they can do. Would enjoy seeing some serious fire, too.
Rooting for them - have a wonderful opportunity and wish them the best.....lay it on the line and let the chips fall. If you come up short, so be it......play the way you can play up to your capabilities.....and may the best team win.

Well this team is the same as last year other than Lance, driving the ball, shooting better and adding more ball screens and handoffs with the off ball screening a bit different and overall better defensively. It is exactly the same only different.
Purdue gets beat the same way every game every year. Every time there is a missed shot and Purdue doesn't get the ball the other team does. Every time Purdue doesn't throw it to a player on the team, it typically ends up a turnover. Every time the possessions are very similar and the other team shoots better on both sides of the arc Purdue loses those games as well. Every time Purdue loses, the other team has more points. It is always the same. The players change, but Matt is the same. He is the constant in all of this.

Just my opinion and you know what they say about opinions. They’re like a holes, everybody has one. If this team is different than last year then I believe losing today should be the final step to getting ready for next week. This loss should eliminate any attitude issues that may or may not have developed with the accolades this team and players have received in recent weeks. Time to file them away, get grounded, and get back to work. Don’t read or listen to any stories about how good you are, just prove it. Opposing players with “attitude “ are best dispensed with by just beating them, don’t talk to them or get drawn in.
Scary part is no one scored but Edey down the stretch , that’s why we had so many turnovers everyone played scared . No movement and waited for Edey to shoot or turn it over. Also we didn’t push the ball like we have been, the tighter the game the tighter we became
Started the game with a very bad decision by Zach, ended the game with a very bad decision by Braden. Need to be smarter next week.
Well if I had the NPOTY, playing guys with 4 fouls many of who were deep, deep bench players......I think that sounds where I would attack every time too.
Turnovers as always are the key to us winning and losing. 15 way too many and several were live ball which are killers. Keep them under 10 and we win going away.
I have to agree with this to a point. I would like to see more action in the offense before simply dumping to Edey, though. Why not try a high screen and a back cut first, just to see if it's there? Then feed the big fella.
Listening to Coach Hurley and Donovan Clingan last night, that's exactly what UConn did against Marquette. They saw a huge mismatch down low and just kept going back to the well. There was nothing Marquette could do to stop it. As much as some on this board hate to admit, it is a luxury to have a big like Edey.
It is a luxury to have a NPOY at any spot. FWIW I didn't see the burst out of Braden, not that I think there was any "lingering problem" outside of soreness if that. He has played Wisconsin twice and think he fared much better in the two before and can't recall him ever fouling out.
I haven't watched the scores, but thought I read some other 1 seeds got beat in their tourney. I think that reenforces the thought that conference play is tough. Teams, coaches and players know each other and try to take away what they can. Doing so eliminates some things that teams outside the conference teams have not seen...both ways.
As an example-look at how successful Zach rolling to the basket after the high ball screen was for much of the season. Then there were a couple of adjustment due to teams starting to load up on Zach's rolling to the basket with Mason coming up to the top of the key...and then sometimes there was the back screen on Mason for a dive to the basket. That sequence was very common earlier in the season and you know Purdue hasn't forgot it and still runs it. Knowing the other team's movement places both teams closer together at all times and leans to more physical play as a result...and less options.
I hope Braden is fully healthy and Purdue getting out of the conference finds some of the game you are wishing. Purdue needs the Zach that just plays ball. Now a weakness Zach and Trey both have is quick, physical play inside.

relative to the turnovers and not scoring or pushing the ball is a constant D for many years played against Purdue's O. Purdue more than many teams reverses the ball. Some of that is to help out the post for positioning. Some to just rotate the D and get the D moving and perhaps in less good position. Doing so outside of a skip pass that would rarely get through is the ball going to the top from a wing and then to another wing. Teams know this and try to shut that down...and like any pass not vertical intercepted..it many times leads to a score. Players cannot go on auto pilot. None of those passes were great D by Wisconsin, but poor O by Purdue. I think we can expect to see teams zone pressing Purdue to eat clock, playing tight on the perimeter and swarming quickly post entries.
Now, when Purdue is played tight on the wings...how many back cuts do we see from the wings?

Power 5 - Purdue, North Carolina, Tennessee, Arizona, and Houston all were top-seeds in their respective conference tournaments and lost (Houston and North Carolina did make the championship game).
In the grand scheme of things - Purdue loses in OT to another tournament team who had just played them within a week. Yes, Purdue had the game won a couple of times IF it made one more play....no fun, but I don't see why the players or anyone else would be ledge-jumping - upset with themselves? I would hope so.....but time to move on, you can't dwell on it.
You only show after late season losses and then you go back into momma's basement and watch porn.

Wisdom - can be one of the many blessings that are bestowed upon us if one is willing and patient.
There are 68 ships sailing in the sea. At the end of the war 67 of them will be sunk. This is what makes March Madness exciting, man. If the drama is making your hemorrhoids flare up, I suggest finding a new hobby. Maybe you could try scrapbooking or quilting?

With so many improvements over last year, it's incredible. Back to back B10 champs, with 2 all B10 first teamers, one of whom is the npoty. Best 6 recruiting classes in Purdue history in terms of wins.
You guys takes are incredibly unreasonable and almost comical.
That’s a great achievement but we’re talking about March… don’t think the regular season holds that much weight

Already responded. That was BEFORE the tourney when we were playing the same way as years past completely relying only on edey. We fixed that.
I was wrong. Happy to be wrong. Ecstatic to be wrong. It had been true for a LONG time about us, until now.
Should we play the game of me pulling up you being wrong the last 3 or 4 years when we lost early to double digit seeds when you had us winning?
Or is that not allowed?
It was like this all season, I had a few drinks yesterday and got out of character, I’m sure he’s a good fan, not one that I’d want to be though. Trashing on coaches, trashing on players, saying refs are fixing games, I mean to each their own I suppose, life can’t be that bad every day I hope.
