...for the 2018-19 season.

Wait, I thought that Purdue was going to be down near the bottom of the B1G next year.

Butler is #22, UM is 12 and M$U is 11.

Gary Parrish at CBS has us at 26 in his 25 (and 1).

Which I think is about right. A tournament team that will spend a few random weeks ranked in the 20-25 range.

About where the “experts” had us last year. And yet...wait, how did that happen when:
1. We have an avg at best recruiter in a coach
2. We have an avg at best “tourney” coach (whatever that means)
3. We had no bench
4. Insert all other negative poster comments here...

I believe Purdue will be a top 20 team by season's end - much like Michigan was this year. I think we'll have a few early season losses as we look for the right combination. It will take awhile for players like Dow, Tre and Hunter to become significant contributors. but, once they do, we'll be fine and in our usual top 15. I think we're going to surprise a lot of people much like last year when people only looked at what we were losing rather than what we have coming back. We'll be a different team, with a different style.

4 seniors who spent a ton of time together, a energetic shot blocking 6th man and a dynamic sophomore combo guard. Hard to see us losing those seniors and staying in the top 25, even at the end of it. I don't think we'll be at the bottom of the B1G (unless CE leaves) but I think on the positive side of the NCAA bubble seems about right.

We'll be playing a 1 seed in the tourney next year if we get past the first round.....way less of a fall off from when the Baby Boilers ended their respective careers, but there is no way we lose what we lost and be expected to spend significant time in the top 20 this coming year. The following year, I would be surprised if we didn't spend most of the year in the top 20 with CE (again, assuming he stays) as senior and what we pick up between now and then.

If CE has another year like this past one, or better, he won’t be around his senior year. I’d put money on that.

Personally, I’m not sure theyll be a top 20 to 25 team at all unless they have a MAJOR step up in offensive development in Haarms and/or Eastern. They both have the capability, but if at least one of them doesn’t, it could be a long year.

I won't be surprised if next year's Purdue team looks like this year's Penn State team. Carsen will be the focal point, like Carr was for PSU this year. A lot will depend on how quickly the rest of the team comes together. Getting through November and December with no bad losses (something PSU couldn't do this year) will be critical.

I do expect Purdue to be playing NCAA Tournament caliber basketball by the end of January. We'll see.
