Purdue at Ohio State: MASTER DISCUSSION THREAD

O$U has talent. Knew they would wake up and play well after the HC got fired... Only down 5 and only scored 30... Purdue will score more in the 2nd half and should slow O$U similar to the Minny game... However, this does look like the team we see when they lose... But, CMP makes good halftime adjustment most of the time so I'm fairly confident coming out the 2nd half... Loyer is simply playing bad basketball... Might be in his own head at this point... Need a Gillis/Jones to step up for us 2nd half...

Watching from afar in the nose bleed seats…Purdue is in big trouble if the 2 is playing awful like Loyer is. Very weak rebounding and too much Morton…love crush by Painter needs to stop! Or we are looking at an early exit again in the tournament! 35-22 Bucks after an 8-0 good start by Purdue

I know Battle wasn't involved which is a surprise

He had no shot attempts - does now have three fouls also. Key didn't even score at Wisconsin - had 7 and was a problem down low. However, Purdue missed a lot of makeable shots, too.

Not totally shocked - life on the road. Boilers had some good energy at the start.....but couldn't sustain it.

Let's see what they do this second half.

Boilers need some serious poise.....again. Letting Ohio State really dig in to this game and get some confidence.
OSU getting all 50/50 balls. Purdue just out of sync after starting well. Don’t think it will be a problem if Zach can play most the second half, but one early flop as Zach tries to seal his man and Purdue in a hole

Got to get the lid off , get better on the boards and more 50/50 balls. Surprised with Trey doubling at the start on tHorton which was okay for that possession but then tried it a couple more times that was costly. Work hard on D and if in the half court FOCUS on the little things like cutting sharp, proper angles on feeds screens and coming off screens.

Little things bring success to big things on O and D

I can see Purdue with a 40+ point H2......IF Edey can stay on the floor.

But got to hold them down defensively. Purdue's D is suspect of late. Not like O$U is an offensive juggernaut....and Purdue seems unable to stop them.

Hard to argue that Purdue is in Uconn league after they destroyed #4 Marquette who gave Purdue a good game. Purdue has not been good last 2 games against Minny and today, two mediocre teams.

Lol. After watching that half, it would be hard to argue Purdue is a top 20 team......let alone in UConn's league.

No team dominates CBB anymore. It's just a matter of playing well in the key games and Tournament. Besides, this OSU team has some decent talent and could make some noise next year with their new coach

OSU returned to form later in the half from three, but just got layups and bunnies instead. No Zach helped.

My wife and daughter are sitting close to the court in Columbus right now, both telling me that CMP is losing his mind on the kids during time outs. So we have that...

I see where you're coming from.....tend to think Minnesota is a little better than people think......however, to your point, Purdue is not playing consistently excellent basketball lately.

They definitely need a spark.

This is the same story every year. Playing our worst ball in Feb going into March. The Big10 being horrible this year has just hidden it. Don’t think Deibler is going to shoot himself in the foot with an earl 2 nd half tech

Any athletic physical guard can take Loyer out of the game . Then he drives and throws up prayers . Does anybody see that

Next year for OSU, how about now? Uconn destroyed a great team, that Purdue squeaked by. Purdue does seem a level below them, especially because they are not very good if you can get fouls on Zach.

The Marquette comparison is completely useless here... Completely different points in the season. Minny beat us and they would have had a strong case at a tourney invite. Grant it probably weren't going to make it but they weren't far from a tourney spot. O$U has talent. In fact if you looks at player ratings they had enough on paper to be ranked at the beginning of the season. Sure, they've been bad, but they just fired their coach and that typically means they have a point to prove... #2 team in the nation at home is the perfect place and time. Only down 5 lets see how they look coming out of half... I figured these 2 games were far from gimmys.. They pulled out the Minny game, lets see how they respond here. If they come back and win this one it will show us a lot about this team imo.
