Playing the "what if" game

I'll never use a comment count to dismiss an opinion...except when you act like you know my posts well. You don't. It is what it is. You're a faux authority on me and my opinions. Any jab you point out that I've made I can demonstrate that it's in retaliation. Nice try.
Except that you have in the past. So anyone that reads your posts, like this series, can see you are full of it. But you made the response I thought you would, no substance and as I already said before just trying to cover up your tracks. It didn't work and I have you pegged beyond a shadow of a doubt.

GG.

You produce my jab...I'll demonstrate it's in retaliation. Pretty simple. You're exposed as a fraud until you do so. :)

Already been presented. Plus you can just search through your own history and find examples.
Again, nothing I didn't expect from you and is on par with your usual schtick. You dance around the facts, paraphrase things people have already said to you and try and use it for yourself and basically lack any substance.

Like I said, I have you nailed and quite effectively.

GG.

Nothing a moderator couldn't fix. Whatever happened to the site that Abu started without all this nonsense???
I used to help him moderate that site, but it slowed down and I lost the url.. then I ended up traveling and couldn't find it again.

I think it still exists.... this forum though might need more moderation. Ban the trolls and delete the posts that have nothing to do with basketball.

^Translation^: "I have nothing". An epic waste of my time. Later!

I don't know if he's the ultimate "team player" (seems to mention himself a lot more often than the team in interviews) but even if that's the case, he still makes Purdue a better team with his rebounding, interior passing, and willingness to be aggressive and desire to be a go-to-scorer for the team and take "the big shots".

His decision to choose Purdue and not Michigan State can only help our recruiting. (his Dad knows the deal)

Except the people who have whined about MP for not recruiting one-and-done players are now criticizing a kid who was a potential one-and-done and is now exploring his options after the one season. Some are whining that he might leave, while others are whining that he might not. Why would a one-and-done kid want to play for this fanbase? Hopefully players see the common theme here about the vocal few. Whiners need something to whine about. It gives their life meaning.

What I get from some of these odd posters is a narcissistic perspective that some how, the player or the coach did something that personally affects the poster. Sure, none of us liked losing in the first round. I will bet nobody felt worse about it than Matt Painter and his players. However, some posters take these things as a personal insult. Honey-Badger seemed to be personally insulted that Swanigan would consider going to the NBA, so he posts offensive tripe in response. I'll call out that trashy behavior any time, regardless of your rebuke.

This. Some people get so caught up in thinking of the team as something that they are an intimate part of. While the players and coaches are putting their time, blood, sweat, and tears into the team, these fans want to be part of a winner and are investing their emotions. They think that when something goes wrong, all of their fragile emotion that they fully invested in "their" team becomes injured, and it is the other members of "their" team who failed them. The temper tantrums ensue.

just being Devils advocate here, but I think we're all guilty of protecting our perceptions and egos. I think both sides do this. Some take a big brother approach and protect the team from the honest, but sometimes harsh, critics. Others, really wish the program would give us something to celebrate, and yeah, brag about. Just not sure why you sunshine boys think your have the high road to yourselves. We all want the same thing...that's a fact.

I agree that we all want the same thing. Everyone was unhappy with the loss. But the difference is that some "fans" think their life is ruined, and it's the players' and coach's fault, when the team doesn't perform the way the fan wants.

I don't think my life is ruined. I think it's time to move on to a new athletic director and coaching staff that have no direct ties to Gene Keady. The only HC I would consider with Purdue ties is Linc Darner, and that's because he has differing offensive and defensive philosophies and schemes than the others in the coaching tree.

Keady led Purdue to 0 Final Fours. Bruce Weber is the only one of his colleagues, former players, or predecessors that I know of that has reached a Final Four (Deron Williams, Dee Brown, Luther Head, Roger Powell, etc.).

Lee Rose made it to a Final Four in two seasons at Purdue. Yes, he had Fred Schaus' recruits (Joe Barry Carroll, Drake Morris, Keith Edmonson, Arnette Hallman, etc.) but he still coached them to a Final Four and it happened quickly after he arrived. Keady had Morris, Edmonson, Brian Walker, Michael "Scooby" Scearce, McDonald's All-American game MVP Russell Cross the season after Rose left and he didn't even make the NCAA Tournament that year or the next.

The bottom line is that the Keady coaching tree/bringing in head coaches from the Purdue family is a very overrated idea. It's all about winning in the postseason and tournament games. That's what matters the most to successful programs and that's the way it should be.

Assess with honesty? LOL, Yeah, it's Caleb Swanigan's fault that your life is ruined. He should go pro so he doesn't ruin any more of "your" seasons. And your honest comrades were hoping Purdue would lose their remaining games and flame out in the tourney so that MP would be gone sooner. And your "honest" friends want Stephans gone because he did not express grief the way they thought he should. And your honest friends absolutely, positively do not want someone from the Keady coaching tree (well, uh, except for maybe Brantley). And your honest friends demand a new coach, but they either won't name a replacement or they name someone with a record of accomplishment worse than MP's. You call it honesty. I see it as a lot of emotional thrashing around, looking for someone to blame.

I think you're self-deluded if you think Purdue is going to be any better in close games under Painter and staff's watch. We have 11 years of data, much of which shows the contrary.

I can only assume that you will also reject anyone from the Calipari and Krzyzewski coaching trees. The Keady tree has produced 2 FF coaches, which is more than the Calipari and Krzyzewski trees combined.

Bruce Weber and who else? Steve Lavin's UCLA team lost to Minnesota in the Elite Eight in 1997. Krzyzewski has about a dozen Final Four appearances and 5 national titles, so there's less reason to doubt those who follow his philosophies (i.e Mike Brey was a Coach K assistant at one point, so was Jeff Capel: they've both been to the Elite Eight before, which is just as far as Keady's teams ever went).

Who said anyone's life is ruined? Oh, yeah...nobody. But, it sure sounds emotional for you to claim as such. And, how would you know anyone hoped for losses? Oh, yeah...you don't. But, it sure sounds emotional for you to claim as such. Speaking of pleas to emotion and over the top rhetorical phrases drummed up out of thin air? And, you don't get to decide when someone is being honest or not. You may disagree with someone, but for you to act as if they're not being honest is ridiculous and arrogant. Some people are far too petulant to accept an opinion they don't share and lack the capacity to just be an adult and put a mature rebuttal into words. Time after time, I see a reply that instantly goes after the person with the opinion rather than an actually thought out counter point. Sort of like this one that I'm responding too. It's always "you", "you guys", "Trolls", "Your friends".

Who said anyone's life is ruined? O And, how would you know anyone hoped for losses? Oh, yeah...you don't.
Um, yeah, one of your "honest" Debbie Downers posted it on this board. And he caught flack from the "Sunshine Boys". Not surprised you missed it.

Clem Haskins, 1997.

And just to be clear, now your idea of success is the Elite Eight?

I think you're deluded for thinking Purdue should fire Painter.
Alright Mr. Stat Guy, show me how many coaches with a winning percentage and length of service comparable to Painter have been fired.

You want to put Purdue basketball in the headlines? Fire painter and see how much we get laughed at. Then watch and see how quickly he gets another good job. You're a joke.

Not sure why you quoted me in it. Maybe quote them? Just sayin. That'd be great. LOL
You described the people I was addressing as making "honest" comments. Maybe you should't appoint yourself their spokesman before you decide whether you agree with them?
