if we dominate NW on Sunday. Afternoon nationally televised game on CBS and a chance to make a statement to everyone watching.
No, one of those games where we can only hurt our seeding by losing to a lower ranked team. If we beat NW, it will be looked at like we are supposed to beat a lower ranked NW......which indeed we should.
The B1G late season losses of Wisky, MSU, NW and MD of late have not helped the conference IMO....and seeding wise I expect the committee to abuse the B1G.
4 or 5 seed for Purdue.....4 if we win out. 5 if we fumble along the way. Could go to a 3 if other potential "3" seeds fumble there way into the tournament too. However, I believe besides Gonzaga, the top of the Pac 12, ACC & Big 12 is very strong and will be given a lot, if not all the 1-3 seeds.
I hate to be a downer but this is exactly the kind of situation where we shit our pants....nationally televised game on CBS and a chance to make a statement to everyone watching.
The RPI and other computer generated sites are used primarily for the bubble teams and not seeding. I write this every year, every year when the seeding is done and the Chair explains seeding variances it is always how the Committee felt about a particular team. Computers don't take into account injuries and other factors that the Committee may use to factor seeding.Yep gotta make the best of every opportunity. At 20th in the RPI, which seems to heavily influence the selection committee, we are squarely a 5 seed (technically on the 5/6 line but no way we are a 6). Blowing the doors off of NW and rolling through the B1G tournament will be our best bet to avoid that dreaded 5 line and visions/nightmares of Arkansas Little Rock.

I think what confuses most people is that Whisky SHOULD be a much better team with Koenig, Happ, and Hayes...but they don't have a real solid supporting cast for those three, IMO. Those three are getting about 30-35 with Showalter getting 28. Outside of that, there are 2 players getting 14-20 of the minutes in Trice and Brown. I think Gard has done a bad job of maintaining minutes throughout the year and his players are getting tired. To compare to Purdue who also appears to have an 8 man rotation:I may be looking at conference play through Old Gold colored glasses, but I have seen some really bad basketball played by other teams in the BIG this year. Last night, in the Iowa-Wisconsin game, some of the shots players were taking were downright awful. The last couple of threes before the winning one by Iowa were total bricks. Wisconsin threw up some pretty lousy shots as well. It seems like the whole conference is in a shooting slump. Meanwhile, the Boilers have struggled a bit too, but still look a lot better on O than most conference teams I've watched lately.
your correct, but if you look at teams playing in the ACC, B12, etc... You'll see the same thing. Kansas was laying an egg against a really bad Oklahoma team the other night for about 35 minutes and was down 12 with 5 or 6 min. to go. They came out of it the last 5 and won, but it's happening everywhere.I may be looking at conference play through Old Gold colored glasses, but I have seen some really bad basketball played by other teams in the BIG this year.
