I would love for PU to end up in their bracket. St. Mary's is basically Iowa according to RPI. I think Iowa would beat this St. Mary's team by 25. If this is the type of competition the Zags are facing on a nightly basis they are not prepared for the NCAA's. I would love to see Haas go up against their big guy. Judging buy the game I am watching he has not been challenged at all this year.

If people don't think the media has a say in the seeding and rankings they are delusional. its the way the world works. Right, Wrong or Indifferent. Its been basketball season for a while but its getting to the best part. Every game matters.

I completely agree on st. Mary's. Watched them lose to valpo in the nit last year from courtside seats and have been saying all year I have no clue how they are ranked. Didn't add anything and definitely were not overly impressive. they are equal to valpo.

Gonzaga has not been challenged at all. The zags have good players but aren't any better than purdue. Would be a 50/50 game. Gonzaga is a media creation. I'd be pissed if I was a fan of one of the good pac 10 teams and lost a 1 seed (except zona I guess who lost to them without a full roster but did lose).

If they let the big guys bang in the paint I think we could really put it on Gonzaga. Haas and Biggie would eat Karnowski alive

Yeah I watched some of that game and was not all that impressed with either team. Nova and UL are way better than the Zags.

In fact, St. Mary's is an order of magnitude better than what the Zags face on a nightly basis! St. Mary's was RPI 19 before the game, but moved up two spots, jumping Purdue, as a result of their 18 point thumping by Gonzaga (don't you just hate the RPI!). Hard to rationalize the respect they get considering it's the WCC where 40% of the conference has 200+ RPIs and another 30% are >100 (rounding SF's 98 up to 100). Over half the Zag's conference games are "Rutgers-like" or easier.

At Florida, Iowa State, Arizona, Washington, at Tennessee, San Diego State. It's not great, but not exactly no challenge.

Florida beat Kentucky and Miami at home. They lost to every other quality team. Florida is not impressive. Iowa State was overrated and unimpressive all year. As previously noted, Arizona was missing players and it was early in the season. Gonzaga would have probably finished 4-5 in the Big Ten and I think that is being optimistic. If we are a 4 seed, I want to be in the division with Gonzaga or Villanova. Those are our best chances at beating a 1 seed.

The only thing you forgot to regurgitate was that it was a Tennessee team that beat Kentucky and an iowa st team that beat kansas.

I'm really not trying to pick on your post but it amazing how sometimes the narrative allows the transitive property and sometimes it's laughed away.

The reality is that Tennessee, sdsu and especially Washington are bad teams. Iowa st is fine, Florida is similar to purdue and I grant you Arizona is good now but was still figuring out how to play without 3 projected starters.

I don't even think Gonzaga is bad, it has good players, but is in the group with purdue not the 1 seeds. St Mary's on the other hand, should be a 10 seed at the very best. I have no clue how it's rpi is higher than purdue or how a 6 seed is a current projection. Of it gets a 6 and purdue gets a 5 I will be livid. Purdue beats the gaels by 20.

St Mary's has to be the most unathletic team on the polls by far.
They would be a lower mid tier big ten team

Florida is a product of that same media bias and beating one good team on their schedule.

Iowa State is decent at best.

Arizona is a totally different team now than they were back when the Zags played them. I think Arizona was missing their best player most of the season. Think Purdue without Biggie. A good team but not nearly the ceiling with him.

Tennessee is pretty bad this season.

SDSU isn't exactly the SDSU that ran off a ton of wins the last few years. A good mid-major but not a high ceiling.

The Zags are good...you don't only lose one game if you aren't pretty good, but that conference schedule is pretty lame outside of St Mary's who would probably be fighting for 6-9 in the 'down' B1G this season.
