Freeman. And he gets talked about a lot for NFL openings. They could be preparing for him to leave. No way. Shepard has them at 11-1 and in the playoff.
my bad. Got him mixed up with Shepherd at Bama.Freeman. And he gets talked about a lot for NFL openings. They could be preparing for him to leave.
It absolutely does matter. We are not in their circumstances.Doesn't matter. What matters is that a doormat program like iu made the commitment. They raised the bar and now Purdue has to meet it. Which means, you better make sure this next hire is as close to a sure thing as you can get and in order to do so, you'll have to commit big $ upfront.
This is not a "prove it" business. It's a "get paid well, and if you win, you'll get paid even more well".
Of course....Purdue could always go out there, hire a coordinator without HC experience for $3M and hope it works out....
You're right, we're not in the same circumstance, we actually have some football tradition, an identity, names and players people recognize. iu has none of that, never had and until this year, the only time they sold out a home game was when OSU or Purdue was coming to town.It absolutely does matter. We are not in their circumstances.
Just like we invested more to keep Brohm a couple times after we knew we had a coach capable of winning here. We don't have that right now. Hopefully we find someone but I'm not holding my breath with the Bobinski/Grimes regime. The point is IU did not invest 72 million to bring Cignetti in. They did that to keep him after he had a good first season against an atrocious schedule. You're right, we're not in the same circumstance, we actually have some football tradition, an identity, names and players people recognize. iu has none of that, never had and until this year, the only time they sold out a home game was when OSU or Purdue was coming to town.
Are you saying that 8 games into a single season, iu suddenly decides they're committed to football and makes a $72M investment?
Before IU ruined the guy, he was a great choice.I’m hearing that Kevin Wilson’s people have been contacted, and that PU’s interest has been reciprocated.
Cannot hire a failure from IU. It's in the by-laws.No way - 63 years old and limited success.
Just canned at Tulsa
This is huge, and is exactly what Coach Cig did. He flipped the IU roster in a big hurry. Having Coach Bostad stay as IU's O line coach was really helpful in that respect; Cig had someone left in-house to give him an honest assessment of which players needed to go.tell 60% of our current players, we don't want you anymore.
maybe ChrystIf anyone wants to start playing the Flightaware game, the Purdue jet landed in West Lafayette at about 11:45PM last night.....
It's a little unusual to hear it over the weekend as the jet is actually based out of the Executive Airport in Chicago, I believe.
Took me a while to parse the above novel down to what I’ll address, but seems highly unlikely “your inside source at OSU” (I wonder who that is??? 🤔), is accurate that OSU has lost a home game for the CFP. Granted they lost a chance in the CCG by losing to UM, and possible first round bye, but I’ve not seen any mocks that don’t have them still hosting as a 6-8 seed. Guess it could happen, but don’t see it.…my inside source at OSU says the AD is not very happy. Not only did OSU lose to Michigan, but in so doing, they also lost the opportunity to host one of the college play-off games. Yes, they will still be in the play-offs. But hosting a play-off game was expected, and would have been a huge revenue generator.
I know a coach who could do just as well as Walters and would gladly accept $250,000 a year. His current coaching experience is track. but I'm quite sure he could win at least one game…
I actually projected Ohio St at 7 in the rankings this week, but that puts them 9th in the bracket because SMU and Boise will be ahead of them getting byes. Close between OSU and Tennessee IMO. We will see tomorrow.Took me a while to parse the above novel down to what I’ll address, but seems highly unlikely “your inside source at OSU” (I wonder who that is??? 🤔), is accurate that OSU has lost a home game for the CFP. Part of what people have to remember is that OSU was 2, not 5. 5 was just where they ended up in the projected bracket last week (all weeks). It is a big question as to how far they fall.Would love if it happens. Just don’t think it will. Guess we will find out soon enough.
Immediate playing time and first class education.Probably over analyzing this but Zyntreacs Otey, a 4 star DB said yesterday he was delaying his signing until February due to the coaching change. Dub just tweeted that Otey’s dad said he changed his mind and will sign as Boiler on Wednesday. Looking through his offers looks like a strong connection with Memphis…wondering if the Memphis guy is our next coach 🤔
He also has offers from Western Kentucky, Marshall, and Toledo which are all coaching possibilities as well. Outside of those he has offers from Tennessee, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Kentucky, UCONN, as well as others.
saw that, at least a little ray of sunshineImmediate playing time and first class education.
I think if that kind of info were leaking out about Memphis coach, it would spread very quickly.Probably over analyzing this but Zyntreacs Otey, a 4 star DB said yesterday he was delaying his signing until February due to the coaching change. Yeesh. Someone is pretty butthurt at being called out for having a weak schedule. It'll be okay little one.All the talk about IU’s schedule cracks me up.
I didn’t hear that when they were playing Oh St,Penn St and Michigan every year.
While y’all were playing Minnesota,Norhwesten and Illinois.
Now that’s fair and balanced scheduling.
Those divisions were a joke and you all know that.
The hate across the country for IU having a good year is really weird.
They did not make their schedule, next year they play at Oregon,Penn St and Iowa,it all evens out in the end.
I would love Jeff at Purdue. We'd never have to worry about discipline againArmy coach Jeff Monken has done a remarkable job turning around the football program at West Point.
He can bench coach but can he recruit and work the portal? West Point doesn't do that stuff like other colleges.I would love Jeff at Purdue. We'd never have to worry about discipline again
Dunno but perspective, he was able to field a rather good team this year without NIL and knowing his players have to go serve. Not easy to recruit to that sort of situation. He can bench coach but can he recruit and work the portal? West Point doesn't do that stuff like other colleges.
I respect the Army program, but no thank you.I would love Jeff at Purdue. We'd never have to worry about discipline again
That is my "other" team so it would suck to see him leave.. not sure he would anyway but with the right amount of money.. you never know.
Sounds like he's interested in the Purdue job and likely what Bobo looks for in a leader this time around. A very experienced HC who's built up a program and had sustained success at a difficult place to win. Midwest ties and can develop players. Maybe he could convince his cousin to come over as OC!Dunno but perspective, he was able to field a rather good team this year without NIL and knowing his players have to go serve. Yeah the problem is he can't bring players with him so he'd have to leverage the portal a LOT. What he has done there with the handcuffs he has is nothing short of amazing. I have little doubt with full resources behind him, he could mimic that and better.Sounds like he's interested in the Purdue job and likely what Bobo looks for in a leader this time around. lol for years you people hid on your board and played hear no evil see no evil banning any Purdue fan who said peep. One great season and you’re hear? I’m still waiting for you and mark milton to tell me how yall like that ass kicking in 2004 you coward mfer lol. Who is next to come over here? My team is on the floor? What a bunch of…I’m hearing that Kevin Wilson’s people have been contacted, and that PU’s interest has been reciprocated.
Gary busey’s agent has yet to confirm Coach Busey.. I mean Allen’s interestHe’s happy where he is and I don’t think PU is interested in paying a lot of money. Plus, PU is interested in an offensive coach.
He’s an IU fan who was one of many who would have any boiler banned for decades on Peegs. One good year and he suddenly wants to talk about it lolNo way - 63 years old and limited success.

Same amount of straight cash coming from boosters? Are you sure? You're right, we're not in the same circumstance, we actually have some football tradition, an identity, names and players people recognize. iu has none of that, never had and until this year, the only time they sold out a home game was when OSU or Purdue was coming to town.
