I don't think enough national voters have their head pulled out of their ass enough to 1) notice and 2) make a flip. Most are going to keep #1 where they are until they lose. Ok with me.I have believe some voters out there will see yet another quality road win against top 10 talent and give the nbr 1 to Purdue.
Keep getting better too. Today was our best defensive effort I’d say. Offense wasn’t bad either but wasn’t our best execution. Hopefully, both sides will be put together and make us super tough to beat.I want Purdue to be #1 on April 9. Until then, I just want Purdue to keep winning and put themselves in the best possible position.
We may see some votes flip to UNC after beating Duke. Old habits die hard.I don't think enough national voters have their head pulled out of their ass enough to 1) notice and 2) make a flip. Most are going to keep #1 where they are until they lose. Ok with me.
Social media is the ultimate echo chamber for confirmation bias. Ignorant masses. Agree that UConn might be better than Purdue (so might UNC at their best), but their resume doesn't reflect that. Not likely. I was stunned at how so many on social media thought UCONN separated themselves from the rest of college basketball yesterday with a 13-point win over unranked St. Johns. UCONN might be better than Purdue. We'll see. But I'm not sure how that win does much to prove it. UCONN's got a cakewalk until their last 5 conference games. Purdue's conference schedule lightens up until their last 3 games in March.
Good Post.Social media is the ultimate echo chamber for confirmation bias. Ignorant masses. Agree that UConn might be better than Purdue (so might UNC at their best), but their resume doesn't reflect that.
Agree. St. John's is worse than NU (IMO) and while it was technically a road game for UConn, those games at MSG typically have more UConn fans than opposing team fans.Good Post.
My eye test tells me Uconn may be better than us right now, but their resume is for sure behind ours. I don't see how beating St.Johns changes anything.
Yes and we could still be the number one overall seed by the end of the season in Detroit which is all we should really care aboutStay at 2, we get Midwest, UConn gets East, everyone is happy.
Because we are still the number one overall seed so it’s irrelevantI'll just never understand the mentality on this board shared by so many to be #2 or lower rather than #1.
The point is it doesn't matter. We get Detroit either way. UConn gets East either way. Houston (probably) gets South either way if the are top 4 and then whomever is left gets West.I'll just never understand the mentality on this board shared by so many to be #2 or lower rather than #1.
👍🏼 KU takin the south over UH!The point is it doesn't matter. We get Detroit either way. UConn gets East either way. Houston (probably) gets South either way if the are top 4 and then whomever is left gets West.
Barring a collapse I don't think Kansas is passing us.
I’ve seen a bracket on line that has Mich St at the #4 seed in Detroit. Not sure I’d want to play MSU in Detroit.Yes and we could still be the number one overall seed by the end of the season in Detroit which is all we should really care about
You would think the committee would never do that to the overall #1 seed, but as we know, it's happened before. Way too early to do that deep of speculating anyway. Maybe you can pencil in the 1s and a couple 2s, but that's about it. And the 16s by conference.I’ve seen a bracket on line that has Mich St at the #4 seed in Detroit. Not sure I’d want to play MSU in Detroit.
Still a long way to go, but as I said in another thread, Purdue and UConn seem to be on a collision course like Baylor and Gonzaga in 2021.The point is it doesn't matter. We get Detroit either way. UConn gets East either way. Houston (probably) gets South either way if the are top 4 and then whomever is left gets West.

They will have to win a LOT of games in the next month to get a 4 seed.I’ve seen a bracket on line that has Mich St at the #4 seed in Detroit. Not sure I’d want to play MSU in Detroit.
I was gonna say that too. On the matrix there's 1 5-seed, 1 6-seed, and then the majority are 9-11, with a few missing. They will have to win a LOT of games in the next month to get a 4 seed.

If the context is seeding, then I agree with you. If we're talking about being ranked #1 in polls, I'd argue it does matter albeit not to everyone I suppose.Because we are still the number one overall seed so it’s irrelevant
Yeah I'm pretty sure you're right on that one. Just goes to show you that not everyone who does brackets for a hobby knows 100% what they're doing, especially when it comes to the bracketing. If I understand the bracketing rules correctly, that could only happen if at least 5 B1G teams ended up getting top 4 seeds. That would mean Purdue, Illinois, Wisconsin, MSU, and then Northwestern and/or Nebraska getting top 4 seeds---possible, but unlikely at this point.
NCAA bracketing procedure (from last year): Each of the first four teams selected from a conference shall be placed in different regions if they are seeded on the first four lines.
B1G commish has nothing to do with the selection of teams or where they play. He isn't on the committee.I would highly doubt the BIG 10 commish would allow Purdue to face MSU as a 4th seed at Detroit. This is why I don’t place much faith in ratings in January and February or early bracket predictions. Early rankings are kind of meaningless.
I also don’t understand fans who get upset Purdue is not #1 in January and February. The only thing that really matters is Purdue’s rating in April. Being #1 in January and February is not going to help Purdue win games against Illinois, UW and IU.
And even if he was, which is possible, he can't be in the room when B1G teams are being discussed.B1G commish has nothing to do with the selection of teams or where they play. He isn't on the committee.
Don't think fans are upset as much as they are wishful. It absolutely does matter if we are #1. Notoriety and exposure for the university and it helps in recruiting. Yes, we want to be #1 in April but we also have to build the future.I would highly doubt the BIG 10 commish would allow Purdue to face MSU as a 4th seed at Detroit. Recruiting season is over! What counts most for notoriety is an NCAA championship not your bragging at some bar or online in February . So I guess you want to go to IU’s forum and brag we’re #1 before the game like that’s going to matter?Don't think fans are upset as much as they are wishful. It absolutely does matter if we are #1.
