The most tangible display of lack composure came when Ivey got the flagrant 1 with game tied 24-24 at the 5:26 mark of the first half. Not only was it a turnover (which gave them 2 shots) but it took him out of the game the last 5:26. From that point on, we were outscored 15-4 the remainder of the half. I was hoping Ivey would open his interview by apologizing for losing his cool and saying it will not happen again. Maybe he apologized privately to the team, but as a “leader” a public apology is way more powerful. Ivey can bet other teams will try to get him to lose his cool. Hopefully he learns from this.
I know you cannot directly say the team’s lack of composure was the cause of the 13-4 run, but my hypothesis is it was a major factor in that run. During that run we sent them to the foul line 9 times fortunately they only hit 5. We also had a turnover lead to a layup. On the offensive end we missed three layups, one dunk, and the front end of a 1 and 1. We just appeared rattled.
