Just for fun....had Painter used the portal..

I know it COULD happen, but I’m pretty sure RB is not going to RS next year. He has all the tools to be great for us. The game is a bit fast right now, but with this season plus the offseason with Paint and staff training him, along with gaining 15-25 lbs of muscle, he should be easily ready to produce at the 10-15 min if not more. Him and DJ in two years at the 4 and 5 will be tough for any team to go against.

If Heide isn’t playing the 4, I’m not sure what the mins breakdown would be at the 3 between Harris, Heide and Colvin and even Cox too.
If Jacobsen and TKR are starting and Burgess is playing big minutes (at least some of which will be at the 4) I'm confused as to why you think that means that Heide is playing most of his time at the 4 as well. It's not what we saw before Jacobsen went down.

The only reason we are seeing it now is because Berg and Burgess aren't ready to play a lot of minutes. If they were, he would be playing a lot of 3.

My disappointment is Jacobsen going down wanted him to play this year and get his lumps an̈d see him adjust for next year , not sure where that's at for this team to rise up to FF next year . Although we will have seasoned players .

Being half glass full for the DJ injury, hopefully now Berg and RB are able to take a leap for next year due to more playing time and then DJ comes back to at least where he was to start this year for next season. That way the 5 spot will be much more competent than this years group after the DJ injury.

I don’t think DJ plays more than 20-25 mins next year. Leaving 15-20 mins at the 5. Burgess would then play 10-15 at the 5. I think TKR plays 20-30 mins a game between the 4 and 5 (maybe 5 min at the 5), leaving 15-20 mins for someone to play the 4. Which I think Heide gets majority …especially is he plays well off of DJ.

I think I don’t understand where Heide would get more than 10-15 mins at the 3 next year?

I just don't think Burgess is a backup 5. He's a 4. He's not a rim protector nor is he a post up guy.

Heide is flexible. He can play 15 at the 3 and 5 somewhere else. He's not playing more than 25 minutes next year either. He's not breaking 18 right now. And that's with no Jacobsen. Colvin and Harris are playing more minutes right now than he is.

Just too early to judge anything on RB, imo, but I’d expect him to improve significantly in the next 10 months.

I’m consistently overly optimistic, but I’d expect DJ to be much more Big Ten ready a year from now than he was pre-injury.

I know he’s out for six months but I’d expect that he’ll be bearing weight and able to do some lower body weight training soon. Hopefully he’s already working on his upper body and his nutrition. It’s much easier to add muscle when you’re not burning tons of calories playing basketball every day.

I've never broken my leg but have had severe sprains in knee ligaments and it felt like it too forever to be strong enough to weight train again like 9-10 months. of course I pushed them too hard too soon and set me back. Maybe bone is actually faster from that perspective? idk too lazy to type into google haha. At this point I would not expect anything more than where he was when he got injured. If he can get his stamina and shot back to those levels I will be thrilled because I think BRB will improve enough to have a really solid group of true centers for next year.

I think you’re right. I think west snd Benter are both new to the mix for time at the 3 spot as well as the 2 so Heide likely sees time at the 4
