Haas is not going to be on the NBA roster. It was reported he would immediately be waived and sent to the G-league. Haas may be “closer” to the NBA, but Mathias still might make more money this year. For all we know, Mathias could have gotten a training camp invite and a chance to play in the G-league and turned it down for what he deemed a better offer.
What is the latest on Vince? Is he still part of the Rockets organization? Really think that ankle injury last season slowed him down and hurt his draft stock. His game against Michigan in late January before the injury was epic! Probably the best game of his career. Really makes me wonder how he would have done the rest of the season had he not gotten injured. Hope he can stay healthy and reach his potential.
While it varies from $ 50,000 to $ 350.000 for players who attend training camps and then are sent to the G-League where they will earn $ 35,000 or so plus around $ 5000 in stipends . It would be reasonable to assume Isaac is at the top end of the scale . However Isaac just got PAID ! and here is how first of all he now is considered an NBA player just by signing with the Jazz players with this on their resume earn much more when they play abroad . Why because former NBA players sell tickets lots of tickets . If Isaac would have followed the path Dakota chose he could have earned around $ 75,000 to $ 100,000 now he would expect at least $ 500,000 . I know Isaac was considering going to china for around a million per . Usually requires at least a two year commitment . That number now would likely more than double . Isaac will play in the NBA and when that happens these numbers become irrelevant . Purdue recruiting just got a whole lot easier as well . CONGRATS ISAAC !
IN talking to my son who has worked overseas the idea that money is tax free is a myth. You still pay taxes and some foreign rates are pretty salty. The difference over the old days is you only pay it in one place.

I think the difference overseas is that in some sports the salary in your contract is net of taxes. In soccer for instance, if the announced salary is $10 M per year (although it is normally stated in per week terms), this means that the team is giving you enough that after you have paid taxes, you are left with $10 M. I have no idea if basketball contracts are the same way.
I know personally two people who have or are playing professional sports in Europe (not basketball but each in a different sport) and that is how it worked for them.
Heller, all I know is Scott Wood from Marion told me that he paid no taxes, that housing was at a minimum, and he pretty much kept what he made. He's made a nice living playing in France and now Turkey. He's had his shots at the D League and at the bigs, but continues to play in Europe. Saw him earlier this year and he was buying a new Corvette at my local dealer.
the biggest problem I see in U.S. players playing overseas is that every league has a maximum number of US players they allow to play. You can't just have 100+ college basketball players who were not drafted thinking they can just go overseas and expect to get paid and play for some Euro or Chinese , Australian, etc. team.
Some U.S. players love playing in Europe, and have made good money. But if somebody new wants to play, somebody old is going to have to leave first.
I remember UW's Griffith was making over $`1 million a year and he loved it. but spaces are limited. For some, it might be better to be like Pj and take the Euro contract rather than wait, and find there are no openings left.
